This is from a player who plays a thief.
The thief class is essentially broken because you MUST rely on stealth and or teleports. The non-stealth thief (one designed for pure damage and only limited escape abilities (Such as signet thief) really are a thing of the past. The problem is that the scaling of damage is way out of proportion. The pure DPS thief actually doe not do enough damage and the PITA hiding thief does way too much damage. Basically the thief design has forced players to retool into the problem that they are today.
Whack 5 K, poof hidden…whack 1K, hidden…whack 3K…whack 6 k, 2k 2k dead….poof …HEY I’m way way way over here guys….chuckle…poof hidden.
Further non-stealth thieves have the same low health pool. Things that you replace stealth with don’t increase your survival ability at all. I mean a pure DPS thief actuall goes DOWN in hit points to about 11K… That’s 1/2 of a good rapid fire!
So the way it works…you become a sneaky thief…get extra mobility…get a maybe 20% damage reduction and get to leave any fight you want to.
Really the class is completely broken and only playable one general way. Making most skills in the tree extra fluff. The cookie cutter success template is so narrow there should really just be “Theif Direct Damage” and “Thief Damage Over Time” choices at character creation. Then your skill bars auto-fill with the correct choice.
Really just stupid…especially venom…only can buff other people and be mostly useless himself thieves.
