You know what I really miss? Skills that tell you did good when you use them properly. Here’s some examples:

I miss interesting ways to revive allies (at risks):

Instead this game contains a ton of passive effects that other-wise could have been incredibly interesting if used more actively. Examples:

The definition of fire-and-forget.

Could have been so much more interesting if it weren’t so passive and long cooldown.

What is the deal with the insane amount of cleaving attacks and AoE effects? It makes more sense in PvE due to the amount of enemies, but why does PvP have to suffer from this as well? I would love to see more target focused skills. Often it just looks like a cluster of effects. Being able to tell what is happening in PvP is one of the most important things to excist.

I have to mention the insane amount of leaps and teleports. Snares, knockbacks, knockdowns, pulls etc are enough interesting ways to think about one’s positioning. Some even abuse the leaps/teleports to reset lost fights while thinking about when and what to dodge could differentiate one’s skill from another.

Lastly, hidden information. Whether you are new or experienced at the game, you should always be able to see what is coming at you. This game, however, hides a lot of important information with Traits and Runes. I can’t express how important visual information is!

Personally, I am a huge fan of the original as it contains so much depth and rewarding play. I am aware it was difficult for a lot of people to get into PvP due to the sheer amount of skills and lack of guidance (other than the wiki).

You had some great ideas to give players a good sense of where to begin with their build by having weapon specific skills, allow for everyone to have a way to sustain with self-healing and a way to defend themselves with dodges.

But the way this has been implemented has downgraded everything by just constantly being able to hit whatever is in the area, disrupting visual information due to the cluster of effects and long and passive effects.

Guild Wars (1) is my most beloved game, to this day it is still so unique since there is no other game out there like it. Guild Wars 2 brings a lot of concern to me for the future, wondering if I will ever be able to play a game so unique.

I would love to create a detailed video/post to give more depth on this subject, but I am not sure if the game will ever change (since it would require a lot of rework).

My friend fear not! You are simply launching the wrong Gw’s!

Disclaimer: No, I did not read your entire post. I stopped after the opening paragraph had nothing to do with the title because gw’s has nothing to do with this title (Gw2) besides sharing the lore of the GW’s universe. Ie: different game, different mechanics, different dev team, etc.

Things I really miss in this game…

Druids shape shifting.

Now, this is as logical and constructive as your gw1 references, it’s a totally different game, do you see what I’m getting at? Essentially your post is based off of 7 things you “miss” from this game (according to your title) that never existed, in this game. Furthermore, I miss halo 2’s sweep shot snipes. oops did at again, irrelevant things in other games attempting to be constructive in a thread about GW2.

You are completely missing the point.

Skills mentioned are the ones I am using as examples. They promote awareness of situations. They don’t have to be copy-pasted into GW2.

If you enjoy all the things mentioned above, just say it. That is your opinion.

I am personally not a fan of certain things implemented into the game, and I express those. Feel free to express yours.

But I’m not missing the point, the skills you mentioned were never in the game, it is quite literally me saying I miss pre Hanzo nerf arrows on my ranger. My ranger never had it. we never had:
•https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Distracting_Shot
•https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Diversion
•https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Foul_Feast
•https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Word_of_Healing
•https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Flesh_of_My_Flesh
•https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Death_Pact_Signet

Ie: everything you said you missed. It’s just not relevant to the “topic” of your conversation of things you miss in this game.

at any rate in regards to things you missed…

https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Bull's_Strike has a more irrelvent effect as gw2 combat is desinged for the player to always be moving (exception of stationary channeled skills)

https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Distracting_Shot interupts are in the game, and traits + skills themselves are their to take a +cd additional effect to said interupted skill.

https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Diversion to be fair if you consider enfure pain/zerk stance the definition of “fire and forget” unsure how you are using this as an example.

https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Foul_Feast we have both skills and traits that do this.

https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Word_of_Healing I miss monk to… but i mean… monks kinda just spammed this skill when ally was below 50% wasn’t rlly a “wow nice clutch good read on when to use!” skill.. it was ltierally near spammable and best in slot for >50%health. Also, GW2 does have many skills and traits in relation to scenarios like this xhealth percentage, xboons, etc.

tbh I really don’t get this at all… I’m sorry, just… skills are there to be used and x always take precedence over y in any given scenario given the factors of range, health, boons, build, tankiness, positioning, etc of both you and your opponent… I’m going to kindly guide myself away from this thread now, sorry op. I really just don’t get what you mean…
