This game needs Endurance hate
ANet will buff Weakness, but a bit of additional Endurance-hate couldn’t hurt.
It would suit the War pretty well to either have more Weakness or some Endurance-drainers.
Sounds necro by lore.
by mechanic idk
imo mesmer should lose illusions and get interrupt f1-4 buttons.
f1 interrupts targets action and deals damage
f2 … and drains endurance
f3… and copies interrupted skill in its place for a single use.
f4… and puts the skill on an extended cool down.
way more mesmer like than clutter illusions
Or you can make skills drain endurance by default.
To give players choice what skills to use instead of pewpewpew…

Endurance is fine. Vigor and dodge/evade/block on Weapon skills that make endurance seem crazy.

Especially perm endurance via 5 point minor traits in extreme popular traitslines cough Guardian, Mesmer cough, or perm endurance via extremely popular major traits cough Ele cough.
Without giving classes boon removal, I do agree that there needs to be more endurance hate not in the form of Weakness. Classes like the Necromancer would be ideal for this kind of mechanic since they themselves have no reliable access to vigor or endurance generation themselves.

Weakness is supposedly being buffed, but I’m pretty sure it’s only being buffed to affect critical hits as well as normal ones. It still leaves perma vigor to be an issue since I’m not sure how the uptime of Weakness is going to compare to the uptime of Vigor. There are more condition removals out there than there are boon stripping tools. Even a Necro can keep up with that much boon application on classes such as Ele and Guardian, or even thieves.
For thieves/necromancers only. Yes.

Game needs something called instability “unable to evade dodge or go invincible for x seconds”

What I meant was a non-condition/non-boon way to mess with endurance. The portion of weakness they are looking to buff is the attack portion.
Did you mean “can’t keep up with that much boon application”? Because that is certainly the case. But it doesn’t need to. Well-placed boon removal is all that’s needed.
It’s tricky to this though while making it visible to everyone that this skill removes endurance, especially during a battle. Similar to how they gave retaliation damage a graphic. Also, endurance in some cases is the lifeblood of certain classes. On the other hand, removing endurance from say a Necromancer, they wouldn’t dodge at all depending on the amount of endurance removal.

Vigor and dodge are fine. Weapon skill evades built into attacks with short or no cooldown are low skillcap cheese, but even then it’s a stretch to call them OP.
we may consider whether or not there is an incarnation of [ele] that would be viable
but balanced. For now, we do not expect it to see serious use.” – ANet
Of course ..of course!Endurance hate you want dear necro??!Right! Its not like you gonna face another necro anyway..And its not like your lack of vigor on top of the new endurance drain abilities and weakness will affect you at all!
I dont get it sometimes..its just like when warriors were asking for boon hate and then when it happened they magically realisedthat their elite signets active is 3 ..boons that are taken away by a thief :P
Seriously though vigor is fine and you need to take into account the popularity of new weakness if it ever comes..Build in evades on weaponsets is..i dont know.In some builds its just stupid but i dont mind the concept
Anything “hate” is a slippery slope in terms of development time and resources. Just ask Blizzard how much they regret all the time they wasted balancing the game that way.
I’m not saying that creating counter-play is bad design. But when you have an MMO with literally hundreds of abilities, utilities, conditions and traits and you will end up realizing that your efforts are futile. No matter what tweak you make to counter an ability or playstyle; the problem that you solved created several other problems.
The process will continue to infinity.
adding it to PvP would be kind of interesting… and I realize this is the PvP forums but uhhh… while trying to keep the game simular to how it plays in PvE where would “endurance hate” ever fit in in PvE?
I guess you could make something like a sPvP rune set or sigil only so it’s not only realistic to balance so some builds don’t get to strong with it, but also makes it accessable to any class, and could spark an important part of the meta.
On the other hand if you don’t like endurance, bait it or stun/snare.
“Maybe I was the illusion all along!”

exactly this. vigor itself might be fine, but the near permanent uptime that some classes get with little to no effort is just ridiculous.

That is actually exactly why it isn’t fine.
Vigor is nearly as powerful as protection and it (along with the sigil-endurance) completely throws off strategic dodge counting…
Bad, bad, bad…
Endurance is fine. How much dodging are those necromancers doing?

I wish someone would have applied your logic when Elementalists were considered OP.

Remind me when in the past 4 months they decided to implement additional “heal hate” in relation to elementalists? Oh wait they didn’t, they just went after the Elementalists.
How Anet toning down a specific profession vs them attacking a global mechanic is the same I have no idea.
Next month will be Jumphate.

i know right? what a weird idea, to keep what worked in gw1, instead of just paying it lip service by including stuff with the same name.
but then thats sorta what guild wars 2 IS, something with a name and few other similarities to it’s origional.
