I started a new character this week for pvp. I thought it’d be fun. Then I realized the matchmaking in this game is beyond bad. Every game I play is just god awful. For the most part I have 2 or 3 players go home at the start which is great because when I see the dragon ranked meta players destroy them all like a joke I realize its just such a waste of time. I don’t know why anyone would bother trying to learn anything new. Its completely ridiculous.

It would be so much better if you just did it all at random. Solo. The way it is now you stack all the inexperienced people on one team… and toss them up against what seems to be anyone! Thanks! I don’t care if my MMR doesn’t change as a result of losing the match. It’s not like you can see those numbers anyway, and all a non-moving mmr does is leave you in the same match pool…. Awesome!

Also it’d be fun if the dailies weren’t so terrible. I’m tired of running into teams of 3 stacked guardians while playing anything that does high condi damage. It’s great. So much fun. Why does anyone play this game again? The massive ping? The broken skills after every patch? The incredibly frustrating matches? Or the lovely reactions people have to these horse kitten games.

It was decent when they actually had a Solo Queue, but now even in unranked, you’ll get pugs vs premade groups. My biggest complain is still the irritating 4v5. I’ve had it after getting 3 consecutive 4v5s today, this is an old issue that has NEVER seen any improvement. But yes I agree, match making in this game is laughable especially when they stick 4 of the same class together.

I’ve PvP’d 5-10 times a day for the last week or so and have only had ONE truly bad game where it went ~500-0. Overall I’d say MM is working fairly well.

Who’s the PvP Dev? Why does he allow for an organized team to play against random team?

How is it possible that this happens in 2015, especially on a game that’s the sucessor to GW1 (which already had separated Random – Team Arena – HoH – GvG since launch)?

im under the impression gw1 had 0 matchmaking, and therefore all matches were a crapshoot as to who you played with/against, even more and worse than the current mmr based matchmaking

They reset the ladder yesterday. Matches may be kinda wonky until people play more games and settle close to their real rating.

I’m liking the new MMR algorithm right now. Eight wins in a row and counting.

I don’t like it. Before, I was around 17 wins and 0 loss. Now I have tried ranked arena with refreshed status, losing them all. It wasn’t about winning, it was about fair competition. In ranked arena, I am against highly skilled people beyond who I should be matched with. Constantly getting ganked by shark and dragon ranks with 500vs300 point games. Just a peanut wolf rank here.
