Now don’t get me wrong, I’m all for a more skill based system and I do think the new system is a step in the right direction.

However It needs ALOT of work. My photo is exactly what is wrong. There is no way those 2 people above me should be there with that win/loss ratio. You can literally just play a few hours of the season then quit. Aren’t we supposed to be encouraging a healthy season?

The “Oh but they will get decay” argument is useless too because they can log in once every few days and play one game which will still keep their rating high and leave skilled pvpers stuck in divisions below them.

The next thing is the skill rating increases. I haven’t played as many games as most people but my win rate is around 75% now after a losing streak during placements and start. However I get +9 for a win and -25 when i lose. It makes 0 sense. I’m so terrified to lose because it destroys the progress of 3 previous games.

I hope Anet keep this system but drastically change the way skill rating works.

The new PvP Leagues system is nothing more then, a Dog and Pony show. Or smoke and mirrors if you will. Everyone knows it’s still very broken.

It’s designed for one thing. That’s to get the most players… PvEers to play it so ANet can once again push their super cheap advertisement as being another eSport game. To lure people in like No Man Sky do to spend money on their product.

All that being say is it a better system then we once had? Yes because now you can get easy ascended gear with the new system. The fact that such a huge set of items have to be put up just to get people just to spend time in PvP in it self should tell you some thing. But most will ignore this slight of hand tells and what not.

I maybe a troll with class.
But at least I admit it!

Oppps lol, I think the new system is crap, people can still grind 100s of games and get to gold, which I thought the basis was to eliminate grinding to highlight skill. Only difference is you can’t have a good coordinated team anymore.

GW2 was built in that every gamers has a chance to be in high ranks

Casual game… its not the traditional pvp game nor the traditional mmo.
Game is designed to be played by a kitten player and succceed.

1st April joke, when gw2 receives a “balance” update.

Check the entire leaderboard, there are people in top 100 with 10 matches played and some of them are 50/50 w/l ratio.

I firmly believe luck has a LOT to do with where you are initially placed and it’s pretty hard to move very far from that point.

The best 15% will do well, the bottom 15% will do badly. The middle 70% can end up in random spots and never move far from it.

In short, I totally agree this system is not working.

I think it would work better if everyone started at the same rank and it took awhile to for them to separate, not 10 matches (or actually 3-4 since those first 3-4 swing you the most).

That’s actually the best solution I’ve heard thus far. I’d make placement more accurate and gaining rank more significant. It’s too easy for people to get stuck wherever they ended up, mmr and matchmaking and all that. Against a group of somewhat less skilled players, considering mmr and matchmaking, your win rate won’t be that high and you’ll still have to grind, grind, grind, in order to progress. That takes a great deal of fun out of the experience, especially if you progress then lose two or three in a row and are right back where you started. Maybe that’s where you belong, but maybe you just need to grind more for a measly 30 points.

If we all got dumped on the same pile, the initial distribution would be messier indeed but the experience of going through the season and up the ranks far more enjoyable and rewarding.

Man, I ear you. I know I’m a n00b and all, and I don’t consider myself the best player on earth but you are definitely right on what you are saying. Altough it wouldn’t be fair for someone to be less or higher ranked just because he did more games. he idea is good the mechanism is wrong. And its like, you get influence by what your team does aswell, image if you did a great game, even if you assisted in kills and helped in the decap process and did your game right and dint get any top stats. It wouldn’t be fair to to judged base on values. Or else, everyone would be competing even inside their own teams to get that advantage and steal kills and be greedy on capturing points.

Guess we will have to live with someone that will have “God Of PvP” as a title from now on until next season, that is when, and maybe, they’ll fix some stuff up and get things rolling again the way it suppose to be.

You do know that everyone started their placement matches with different ratings, right? They basically put everyone closer to 1200 rating (and each other) and increased the amount that the initial matches would change your rating. The 2 people with the same win/loss in the first 10 matches get to different ratings because they started with different ratings that were based on their previous matches. Seems fair to me.

Sorry for that! I was just using this as an example as I noticed it when I was checking the leaderboard and thought it looks wrong. No disrespect to you.

The system then is ENTIRELY based on luck as if you want to successfully move up the leaderboard then you need to be placed against better MMR players. This is fundamentally flawed.

I still think its essential to gain more or lose less points if you have top stats in a game (focus this simply on defending points or something to prevent chasing stats). Or they should make your skill rating increase with win streaks. I’m on a 12 game win streak today and still getting the same +9 points per win.

In addition to this, rating depends on who you play, not just whether you win or lose. If you beat people at 1700, but lose more games to people at 2000, your rating will end up around 1800 (exaggerated examples, but that’s the idea). Similarly, if you beat people at 900, but lose to people at 1500 and 1300, your rating is going to be somewhere around 1000-1100.

No problem man. I was attempting a joke. But better joke is on me, I must play really bad. I dropped a lot. Now I’m only focused in farming that chest in the reward track.
Its impossible to even have a slight chance to win for me. Yesterday I didnt like 10 games and I just won one.

If you do 6/4 against bronze players you should NOT be placed higher than someone doing 4/6 against legend players, period. Understand that and then reconsider your statement.

Lol such a long shot remark. But if he’s doing better then the people in his current division why lock him there? No he shouldn’t be placed higher then legend players but he should receive a promotion to silver since he’s doing better then the rest of his tier.

Also if a player in bronze shouldn’t be able to move out of bronze with a %66 win ratio. Then a player in legendary with a lower then %50 win ratio should be bumped down really quick. But please don’t mention any about that tho.
