HoT elite specs are easy to play and learn, they attract players, and are op, so the f2p accounts buy HoT. Meaning everyone that is wanting the back piece, and that pips are killing the pvp community because. The HoT elite specs make it so hard to kill people that they had to remove bunker ammys, instead of balancing the specs. This was not a problem pre-HoT. There is just way to much defensive traits and utilities now to where it doesn’t even take skill to run certain classes, and also the aoe from these specs is to player friendly instead of a coordinated single target burst from the more skilled classes. These aoe’s give players the ability to just burst randomly and hit stuff without even targeting, which is pathetic on anets pvp team and take no skill at all. Pre-HoT pvp, was what would have brought this game into serious esports.

I disagree, you couldn’t be further fro truth, Let’s look at warrior for instance, the Defense line is more OP than zerker or discipline. Same with Guardian, their core lines are better than DH, hence why most of them are running core guardian.

Riiight, no one sees trapper DH in pvp these days…
I also wholly agree with topic starter about OP and easiness of HoT specs – just look at meta scrapper. That thing is so easy to play and powerful at the same time i could not believe i’m still playing engineer and not a warrior. Any core engi build has to deal with massive kit juggling and pay extreme attention while doing so to be actually efffective. Not scrappers!

Or how about DH? Their difficulty curve is legendary…

I would say that smallest offenders here are chronomancers and druids – these two actually demand some skill and higher control level then their core versions in exchange for stronger powers. But some specs are blatantly moar power for moar ease hands down..

Chronomancer and Druid my two goto classes when I do feel up to 3 or 4 matches in GW2’s sPvP. They are very fun and their Command and Control capabilities are very high IMO, but that really is not saying much, seeing that Amber quality players are making it to Legendary division the past few Seasons. I heard this season is the worst of them all for that. LOL

I think I’m going to stop by just to see some of the matches, and see how bad are the players that have fully stayed on the path to GW2 sPvP “Greatness” and is still in try hard mode are these days.

I agree.

They did try to convert their pve population (millions) with easy passive or OP skills to pvp population (thousands).

The break the pvp population (thousands are gone to balanced pvp games) and pve population prefer to kill scripted dolls.

It was so wrong but it’s too hard to rollback.

sPvP lifespan for average joe is 3 months.
For smart player that like pvp games, 6 months.

We know each other, that it’s really hard to create a spvp guild and keep it alive for more than 3 month. (except pro league guild or MISTCORE).

Couldnt one argue that since the fights are alot more tanky and last longer itd require proper; teamwork, positioning, skill usage, and setups? I’m a new gen so I obv don’t know too much but in terms of PvP fundamentals from what I’ve seen in the past this game was alot more burst dmg with quicker kills. Drawn out PvP fights focuses more on teamwork and -insert said things above-.

Man, I really missed the burst, fast paced version of the game. To bad the majority “[didn’t] have the reaction time” so Devs removed it due to “unhealthy gameplay.”

I wish every skill in the game was like DH LB#3, a skill-shot. Moba MMORPG…that will be the day.

That would make gw2 to easy…imo
Gw1 was far superior on that, was necessary team work to achieve good ganks, lure players into certain cirkittenances, know how to stress players with condi.. there was more know how needed.
Gw1 good teams could burst players, but would be necessary teamwork, here isnt much like that…
Combats were slow paced, commenter could comment anything else, explain what was happenign and why players were doing it…

Far far superior game…

1st April joke, when gw2 receives a “balance” update.

Anet does not have a pvp balance team…

You are right, though. Anet is pushing more passive play to attract more people to pvp.

Hmm, pre HoT i was able to play with Toughness/Vitality Amulet if i wanted to play a bunker build, and i had very good survivability. They removed defensive Amulets and some other ones too. Now, one mistake and you go from 100% to downed in 4 or 5 seconds lol. Damage is just way to high right now. It was fine before HoT if you wanted to play defensive builds. Now you can’t play defensive/bunker builds any longer:(

Passive skill procc’ing was needed. When you had non standardised player models and legendary amounts of particle screen pollution to the point no one could clearly see what the heck was going on, the only way to balance it was automatic passive skills.

Everyone has seen a cluster bomb of light and magic happen when mysteriously you see-BLOCKED- pop out of the madness. That was your passive saving you from something you couldn’t see coming, from a player that you’re not too sure what they cast or exactly where they were.
