This spam meta...
I always felt GW2 was fairly spammy with a dash of unresponsiveness to begin with (great combo). I do not think conditions are an inherent problem on their own, and its cool that players can choose between direct or indirect damage. To me its a deeper problem where its just much better to fire off your attacks without thinking about the team or when the cooldowns will be back up. The Ease of Application is just way out of whack in this game, which you could rephrase as ‘spammy’ indeed. To the point where you might as well just dodge spam instead of timing it against larger burst, and how gameplay is now basically ‘fit your tiny circles into the big circle’.
At this point that translates into conditions overwhelming the available cleansing options. Should conditions simply be nerfed i just expect other classes to take the spot of the currently OP ones within days while the old ones take a months long backseat yet again. Get the classes off the crack rocks please. Tone down your game.

Pretty much what OP said, I agree. When I saw the first trailers of the game, I saw a ranger making a combo with an ele for flaming arrows, and I thought that this was great!
At last a game with some synergy,a game that if I work and build on my allies I will grow stronger and feel like I am contributing..but right now.. the meta is nowhere near that. Right now you only care about spamming your AoEs and diffrent kinds of CCs in order to kill your enemy faster than he can kill you, there is no point in any team work and building a team, just take the cookie-cutter builds and rock the floor.
Think about it, when was the last time that you payed attention to the combo fields, in spvp, in order to power up your skill by a combo finisher..?

lol the game was always spammy
Cast bars would be a start. But changing aoe would be a problem, since the majority of skills in the game are aoe.

The skills philosophy should be “Few but good”. There should be less aoe, less control, but they should be determinant on the flow of the fight, something that letting it land or interrupting it would make the difference, wasting it or not should make the difference.
Many skills shouldnt be AoE at all, and those who are should have clear animations like warrior and eles aoe, they should have long Cds and at that point they can also be strong.
This is where this game should focus. I don’t think it’s too late, nor impossible to achieve. The game still has a solid base from where to begin.
but they’re a lot stronger
than they will be next year!
