Three months with this matchmaking
I personally would like to see a hotfix. As someone who has been on the not as fortunate end of the matchmaking it’d be great to not have to put up with it anymore. Compensation would be a great way to show the community that anet listens and are trying as hard as they can to find a solution. Especially considering how much toxicity is surrounding the system as it is now, a fix would be a huge step in ensuring the entire pvp playerbase doesn’t quit.
However, based on how a ton of people have reacted to stuff like this I’m guessing the people who lucked their way to legend or premade farmed it will say no so they can get more rewards and try to act cool by talking down those who did not get so lucky. But we will see as more reply to this.
I don’t think there will be any change with matchmaking. It is working as intended. And if not who cares. Apparently anet does not …
I’m not the kind of person to make demands, this is their game and they run it how they like. Personally for myself and a few of my friends we have stopped playing PvP as it is because we know we can’t progress any further.
I will return when this is over and new things start happening, have fun all.
I think a hotfix for the matchmaking would be healthy for PvP. I have talked to a lot of players in game that stay away from PvP partially because of the toxicity and partially because the terrible matchmaking this season is sparking extra hostility when you get grouped up poorly. Implementing a hotfix would get them to at least consider playing again, and the more players in PvP the better it is
Yes, the matchmaking system does a great job at giving you an overall winrate of 50% but it sucks at giving you fair teams to fight in individual matches. Its mostly completely one sided matches and the system merely alternates which side you are on.
Seems like a few people are hitting their skill walls and blaming the game. If it’s the game, why is it that some players (solo, duo, or not) are having no trouble carrying their teams up to legendary but others aren’t? Remember that legendary isn’t for everyone.
That isn’t the problem. The problem is that the matches are simply not fun to play(due to massive imbalances between teams) regardless of if you’re an amber 1 player or a legendary player.
Multiple multi-season legendary players have been saying that this seasons matchmaking is a disaster and that they had completely one sided matches their entire journey to legendary. They consistently say that when they won games, they could’ve been afk and still won, and when they lose their contribution to the match was next to pointless. In both cases, they were simply along for the ride, and not actually doing anything to help win or lose the match. I think even Chaith has commented on the matchmaking saying it’s extremely bad right now and stacking winning teams and losing teams nearly every single match.
If the matches are so one-sided, like they currently are with this matchmaking, they aren’t fun. Spvp is losing players at an alarming rate, sure, people are finish their legendary backs, but it’s a much deeper issue than that.
I could lose every single game for weeks in a row, but if I had close games, felt like my contribution mattered, felt like I had decent teammates equal to me, and my enemies in skill, I would have fun. That’s all I want, fun. The current matchmaking system is as far from that as humanly possible.
I think this is most peoples problem with the matchmaking as well. Then, as soon as you reach legendary(or whatever you wanted for backpiece), most people simply wash their hands of the game and either move onto another game, PvE, or WvW. There is little to no fun to be had right now in Spvp. PvP should be fun, it’s not. People want to have fun, they are not capable of having fun at a moderately decent rate due to the games current matchmaking system.
This is why I want a full reset.

In the time it takes to design, implement, and test a new system, the season will be over anyway.
@Shiyo you captured my feelings on the matter perfectly. I know I’m not very good at PvP and I have no problem losing all of my matches as long as they are fair matches and the other team isn’t facerolling us. That is not fun. Its also not fun to faceroll the other team.
I’m honestly done caring. Anet has made zero effort to make this season enjoyable whatsoever, and created possibly the single worst matchmaking system in the history of competitive leagues.
Despite overwhelming criticism and suggestions, Anet has once again remained completely silent on an immensely unpopular system, without so much as a token “we’re reading and making plans” that they would give to other game modes.
I’ll continue playing not because I enjoy sPvP, but because I simply don’t have anything better to do, and despite the system being an absolute dumpster fire, I’d like to continue improving on the extremely slim chance that season 4 is actually playable.
Fortunately I only need to hit Diamond this season or next and Ruby otherwise to finish my meta achievements, so as soon as I get where I need to I’m gonna do literally everything I can to deliberately ruin the gaming experience for everyone else I play with, because that’s what anet has taught me to do.
Just move to a better game, you know the one I mean. Ranked mode on that game will be starting soon.

The matchmaking has basically been the same since season one with minor changes. Stop waiting for some magical fix its not coming. They have been looking at it for 7 months so either they are the dumbest people ever and can’t find any meaningful fixes to improve it or this is what they think is the best based on how everything works.

I find PvP unplayable just because of the matchmaking system.
The combat is great, the balance is pretty good, fighting other classes is enjoyable, but I simply cannot have fun because nearly all matches are one sided stomps.
Playing PvP where your contribution means almost nothing isn’t PvP to me. PvP should be decided by who is the better player(s), right now it’s not. The way matchmaking works is making PvP completely unfun for me.
