If there is one thing explaining why condition builds are better than power is that in the current state of the game you can mitigate direct damage with Boons (Protection) and Conditions (Weakness) but Condition builds cannot be mitigated with boons nor conditions (don’t say regen does that, all what regen can out heal is 1 or 2 stacks of bleed)

It would be nice to see some new boon that acts like protection but counters conditions (something like condition duration is reduced by X%) and a condition that could act like weakness but counters condibuilds.

And give those to professions with the least condi-removal capabilities (Warriors, theifs, Mesmers, Engineers …)

So what do the community think about that ?

Um, well. Couple things. I COULD see a boon that says “Conditions deal 30% less dmg” so protection, but for conditions. But I don’t really think it’s solving a lot. Immunity or making them fall off faster probably isn’t good. And to be honest I don’t think making a boon to counter them is really that good either. I think they just need to be toned down a tiny bit as far as ease of application and maybe even a little bit on damage.

I don’t want everyone getting comfortable with “add a new boon for this and condition or that” its a good mind set to make the game overcomplicated and flooded. New boons and conditions are actually just kind of patch overs rather than fixing individual classes, and I don’t really support that.

I thought about this too, but if they did I’d probably be more in support of protection being 25% reduction of all damage rather than 30% power dmg and x% conditions.

Condition Removal Abilities is your counter to Conditions..

I can’t pop an ability and remove direct damage.. other than immunities that sometimes work against Conditions as well..

Conditions are supposed to go through defenses. You don’t need a boon against conditions because they’ve already given the ability to straight remove them and even reduce their duration. For a profession like the Ranger that lacks boon removal, conditions are a way through those boons and toughness.
Whats whack is that condi application, it gets spammed, it gets stacked. In some cases it is pretty much spiking without the down time of physical spikes.
The only thing that needs to be done with conditions is look at what is putting out excessive conditions.

Overall, condition damage was worse than power damage until recently, when necros got their condition boost. Other classes are either bad at condition damage or just overall balanced so if you added a boon that was against condition (or gave it to protection) All you would do is hinder any viability in ele, thiefs, mesmers condition builds and so on.

I have no doubt that if more protection boons were created, all it would do is push the meta into bunker builds again and people would just complain about that after.

He has a point though, AFAIK the only viable condition build until now was an Engineer, and now Necros. That’s 2 out of 8 classes. Condition builds need to be buffed for the other classes.
