I am not the best player by any mean. I am just an average player and I know I will get lot of flames for saying this but this is the truth. If you are really as good as you think then you will have no problem getting minimum 1700+ rating and top 250. Yes even if you are placed in bronze due to “unlucky” Matchmaking. Proofs are Drazeth from Denial; he got placed I think in Silver (Not 100% sure if silver or gold but I think he was placed the lowest out of all the pros) and he soloQ his way to the top 50 in a couple days by carrying scrubs. So yes, If you really “deserve” high plat or Legendary MMR then you can get it by carrying scrubs.

This season is the best one so far. The system is actually working. I opened the leader board and recognized almost everyone one in the top 100. So that mean the system is actually working. It still flawed in some aspects, but keep in mind this is 10000x better than previous 4 season. There is actually some prestige to your Division and MMR now. So to the people who are whining non-stop blaming the system, maybe take a look at yourself first. Maybe you’re not as good as you think you are and need to work on some aspects.

Before I get flame for “oh you’re just all talk, you get carry by mmr, you get lucky placements” etc. Sorry to said that’s all false because I was placed Mid gold and climb to mid plat MMR soloQ. Granted, it’s NA which is a lot easier than EU, but most of the complainers are from NA so I guess it is still relevant. I started duoQ when I hit top 50 because it a 20% less chance of getting a deadweight player on your team. Here is an example of my Second time getting to Legend MMR where my duoQ partner and I had to carry an AFK mesmer who did not use a single portal and gave up when we were ~300 pts behind. I have to tell him to stop afking and straight up said “We will carry” to get him to go to fights and spam buttons. He didn’t Moa Once that game.

So yes, If you TRULY deserve the rank you think you deserve. Then start carrying. And yes I know there are Uncarriable games but those are a few in a dozen. Almost all games are carriable. You should always try your best to carry before blaming your teammates. Look at yourself before blaming your teammate. I know when i’m not playing 100% I would never tilt at teammates but tilt at myself. When I tilt at teammates is when I am not playing at my best.

People are just being delusional about where they belong. if there are top 10 players that means theres also bottom 10 players. Someone has to be at the bottom aswell, everyone cannot be on the top so people get frustrated and wonder why they are stuck.

So we finally get a skill based sytem and people complain because they can no longer grind or get carried by premades.

I agree with Kratos, people have 2 choices, either to get good or climb the ladder or at least accept the fact that you were not as good as you thought and belong in the right divsion until you put more effort in and get better.

but anyway its pointless to argue with these people. if someone is delusional you cannot really change their mind , they will keep complaining about matchmaking until anet reverts back the garbage grind based system.

to be able to ascend in rank, you need to be able to carry 4 people all the time.

and that’s a load of bull...

there’s also professions which are hardcarry and professions which are no carry.

teef vs ele as a perfect example for both types. to succeed in teamfights, you need a team supporting profession which is either ele or whatever. if you play ele and your teammates do not understand how to rotate with an ele, you will lose the game.

if you play teef, you can decap and outrotate the enemy team all the time and win the game for your guys, unless they suck really really really hard.

Is that really what Legend tier in NA is like?!

Kratos and Edmrix, I can literally shred both of you 1v2 and a 1v1 would be comedy gold. Quite literally. It’s becoming annoying seeing you two talk with such a condescending tone lmao. You lucked out in placement because it is a fact that if you regularly queued against me in your division, you wouldn’t even come within 250 points of my win. Boh of you play easy builds, low risk high rewards. I play the opposite because…well, quite simply put Kratos, I am the best player. I don’t have to rely on broken classes to beat players. All my builds are founded upon my superior reflexes and ability to literally dodge most of the direct damage. It’s cool that you use a class with perma stun, but don’t fool anyone here with your prententious attitude. Neither of you will be in the next ToL. So please, drop the attitude.

The “one pro gamer carry 4 baddies to victory against decent team” spiel is a myth. Never gonna happen. Hasnt ever happened, will never happen.

Then the weekend started. Matchquality got horrible. Teammates could have been apes and done a better job. But I carried, and carried hard. Did I win all matches? Hell no, but I held on to my rating through it all.

What Im trying to say… you cant carry to a win with all odds stacked against you. There are matches that are just unwinable, plain and simple.

Doesnt mean every match that you loose, is unwinable. But sometimes you can only give it your best shot, and its still a 300-500 loss. Last weekend there was about every 2nd match like that for me. Before friday, I didnt have a single match like that.
Now, weekend is over… the last 3 matches I played, we won. It was close matches. Fun matches. Challenging, but doable. Still some bad players on my team… (trying to kill two tempests on enemy capped point for the whole match, that kind of bad players), but also one or two good players. The enemy teams were pretty much the same, no huge discrepancies.

So yeah… sure, you can carry to victory – within reason.

Im guessing you rose past plat t1 before the weekend. Which makes you rather unqualified to talk about bronze to gold t1 matches during this weekend.

Fact is, matchquality this weekend was most horrid. Hence the increase of QQ threads.

To be fair, weekends are known to be kitten when it comes to matchmaking because everyone and their mother is playing. Also, no one expects you to carry every game, sometimes it is just uncarryable if you placed that low. However, the majority of games won’t be that, as you noticed yourself. So if you truly are above the players in your division, you will get out, even if that means you have to make changes to your build, playstyle or even swap to another class.

Novaan, its actually what I did to keep that rating I went from playing mesmer and kiting like a young god, keeping 2+ busy all the time, but not being able to keep my teammates from dieing to one thief… to playing warrior and killing the thief.

So yeah, thats also a thing. Some builds are just unsuited to carrying really bad players. If nothing dies, you have a really hard time to win matches as a tempest, since you will get outrotated. If your teammates end each match with 20+ deaths, you can be the best roamer… and will still loose.
But thats things that I kinda expect a decent player to know and adapt to, and in my opinion thats part of “carrying”.

Im absolutely sure that I will rise to where I really belong, this season. On each of my accounts. Im not worried about that. Sorry, if my post sounded like the typical “stuck in ruby hell” post, it wasnt meant like that. Just… posts like the one made by Kratos rub me the wrong way. You cant carry to win all the time. And some complaints are justified.

Lmao if only you even watched my video. I hardly use staff for anything beyond heals. I play mainly melee and I’m often in my opponents face talking that good, per usual. I’m literally the only one capable of using my build because it’s quite glassy and the damage requires strategic implementation of dodging with timed attacks. In fact, I’d go on to say using a glassy build to take on multiple players, like I do in Episode 1 of Best Player, and one that completely relies on evading, not blocks and invulns requires skill. But it’s good to see that you simply read one word and apply this preconceived irrationality of yours. This comedy won’t end until the average intelligence on this forum sees a statistically significant increase. And I can only do much to raise the average kid

I think the key phrase here is swap to another build or class.

I know I am not a great player, but some classes just don’t carry as well as others. I main chrono (I can drop portals between home and mid but I can’t make my teammates use them) and enjoy it, but I am considering learning another class to get out of the lower tiers. I just don’t have the damage or sustain in a team fight to carry.

Another issue that will become more apparent as time goes on is people not queuing aside from counteracting MMR decay. Being forced to duo queue is a pain in the neck, because first you have to find someone to duo with…

Im sorry i know you are kind of playing right down the middle but you yourself use examples of why match making can be the reason the ranking system is not great.

First off we can all get this out of the way, yes this is the best season. Yes this is the most fun etc etc etc. The problem with saying that is this is SEASON 5, when you can literally say season 1-4 were not great systems. Its not a great starting point.

You talk about yourself, you talk about a ESL player and many pro players have complained about a certain necro placing in the top 5 and this person is my hero.

You cant make a thread telling people to learn to carry when they simply want GOOD GAMES and to not get flamed.

We need a system that creates fair matches while giving the player based there rankings.

i started the season on day 5 think.
For my first 10 games i had 8-2 loses. (which is what i am used to win)

Those “lost games”were games, you cant cary. There are machtes you just cant win.

After the 10 games, i lost the 8 following games.
Well in a bigger scales, it may become stable.
Still i was wondering, why i had people in my party people with 11 loses and 10 wins, when i have 8 win 2 loses

The worst is: i got almost the same people 3 games in a row….
so i kept losing games.

Personal anecdote. I got placed below my correct division at bottom of silver. I knew it as below where I should be b/c I see consistently winning in areas I was involved in. I don’t play that many games, however, I am steadily climbing and just about to enter gold 1. The matches have been trending to more even matches. System seems to be doing its job, for the most part.

Basically it feels like the placement matches are a dice roll deciding how many matches you need to get top rank. Like an inverted six sided die x100. Roll a 6 and play 600 to grind up to you skill level. Roll a 1 and keep a game a day to stay up.
The system ist good but flawed by measuring personal skill on a pug effort and by placing you on asumptions (from plaing with randoms). It need a lot of time to settle MMR and this time feels disributed randomly on players depending on luck.

yes some pple like ROM drazeh Helseth etc can carry a team a bit, but even them cant carry all and lets be real 95% of playerbase doesnt have their skills and thats good, not everybody want to spend their time in game.
