ToL is boring to watch
I disagree, I watched the EU finals and found it to be really exiting.
I can tell you, you’d have way more hard time to understand if you were watching a GW1 GvG. The problem comes with the fact that all classes don’t have the same skills versus a MobA where a certain hero always has the same abilities.
You have to know what weapon they have to know what they can do or not do.
Also, utilities and elites make this game boring on the sPvP side (at least to me).
That’s probably why it isn’t fun to watch
I actually enjoyed it. But I did get bored on games when it was one-sided. For the games that were neck-and-neck, I was on the edge of my seat. If there was a VOD for BooN vs TDI, Game 2, I’d link it. It was a really good match.
The non one sided game were exciting but you gotta know the game so you can see good plays, sireph and blu are good casters but their not very good at spotting skillshots.
guildwars pvp is boring as a whole the end
Best Mercenary Guardian you can find to fill your last slot.
Keep Calm and PVP Hard.
I’m not exactly sure why this is, but I kind of agree with you.. I watch Blu, play all the time, seems like a bad kittens guy.. But, I don’t feel very invested in teams, or individual fights.
Maybe having more windows to show individual fights.. Or just camera work in general.
For me it can be boring because of the lack of competition and investment. I only vaguely know a very small number of teams, and almost every game involving a good team was a stomp. Also the breaks were too long, imo, you shouldn’t be having breaks almost as long as the game itself, unless you have something more than music/bad jokes to fill in the dead space.
Only the last game in the finals was fun to watch but many games in the quartefinal are fun to watch….
Watching any game is pretty boring to be honest. The exceptions being story driven games where the gameplay doesn’t really matter and its more of a movie.
I dunno – I really enjoy watching SCII and I honestly don’t even know that much about it.
I think a huge part of that though is there are big plays where you know how important the play was. You know the gravity of a situation with the tiniest bit of knowledge – and I think their shoutcasters do a great job of emphasizing those plays. No amount of clever tactics go unnoticed.
One thing to note is that competitive GW2 is still in it’s infancy – it’s still missing some core features I think but it’s getting close!
And yeah – it’s hard to be invested in teams when they are so frequently splitting up and reforming. They need more incentive to stay together.
The casters did a great job.
The issue is that conquest itself isn’t overly fun to watch. I personally enjoy the weekly 2v2 more.
Maybe because Gw2 is one of those games that you wanna play instead of watch.
And maybe because the camera view kittening sucks.
I personally think GW1 was great to watch because you could choose individuals to watch and follow them as long as you choose. Whereas the setup we have now the casters choose who we can view.

GW2 competitive scene is still in its infancy only if it has Benjamin Button Disease.

I haven’t signed into these forums or Guild Wars 2 for a long time. I was told about this ludicrous post and felt compelled to reply. The GW2 competitive scene must be a phoenix because this kitten died a long time ago.

kitten , I didn’t know Blu42 ran kitten this hard.
Allie now that you’re not an employee you could just call these haters a bunch of bitter no-lives who can afford the luxury of centering their worldly frustrations around a game which is still developing its pvp.
Oh and taking it out on people put in a position where they have to be nice. Anyone able to talk unabatedly would dismiss these comments.

It is so exciting to watch bunkers slap each other in the face with wet noodles for 15 minutes. If you are not excited by this then i don’t know what will entertain you.

Truth. It is a phoenix thanks to the PvE and WvW players coming in (me included).
I think it’s a good move in ANet’s part. If you get the casuals play PvP and have them grasp some of the mechanics, then you have an audience when a tournament crops up. Previously, the barrier to entry for PvP was its empty rewards. Now that the new update is in, those who want to PvP on the sideline could be rewarded for their time.
But, yes, GW2’s PvP is still in its infancy. Teams are still unknown, and some players don’t have a personality or reputation to garner a following. I’m not sure if it will catch up, but we’ll see after China’s release.
i wanted to watch the game for the sake of watching and learning some strategy but the game is boring as hell even the EU… TCG steam rolled everyone the end. and NA well its more boring than EU. i thought i can force myself to watch for the sake of getting a precursor and finisher but i rather sleep and watch the recording later. (which what i did) and oh yeah that guys helseth wasnt he the one who made bunch of QQ video where hes saying he wont play tourney etc coz of lack of animation blahblah and there he is playing tourney.
