I’m new to the game, so excuse my ignorance.

My question is in relation to the gear you get from the tournaments. I have looked around and from what I can gather, gear in PvP is purely cosmetic.

But I dont understand how it works. I thought as you rank up, you can get cool looking gear from the vendor with your glory.

If thats the case, WTF do i do with all the loot I get from tourney chests? I’ve put as much as i can in my PvP locker (guess this is just a bank for gear), but ive got loads of stuff in my bags that wont fit into my locker because i already have the item. So what do I do with it? Is there any benefit to keeping the gear if im planning on buying the gear with my glory?

Also, I saw you can craft PvP gear too. After reading the thread about that, Im still not sure what the point of that is, considering ive got a full set of gear anyway?

If you get gear you already have, you can salvage it with a PvP Salvage Kit (100 glory or something), this will give you materials to use in the Mystic Forge in Lion’s Arch, which you can use to make gear you don’t already have.

You dont have to go to Lions Arch. There is a mystic forge in heart of the mists, right next to the tournament guy.

Other then, pretty much as above poster wrote: buy a pvp salvage kit for glory, and salvage all the gear you can’t fit into locker/don’t want. Store the mats you get, or use them to create new gear.

Mystic Forge is here because there are no gear vendors, just chest vendors and to lowers the amount of randomnes you are able to make exact items you want from specific materials in Mystic Forge with a chance of getting critical success ie 1 tier (tier, not rank) higher item

So how is this gear from the chests different to the stuff I can buy with lory when i rank up to 10,20,30 etc?

Gear from tournament chests are also unique, seer and armaggedon gear from free tournaments and probably different ones from paid tournaments. So if you’d want a seer or armaggedon set you would have to participate in free tournaments as that’s the only way it’s available.
