Toxic/bullying/rude players
Sometimes.
I’ll repeat something I’ve said before about excessive trash talking.
Trash talking…is just trash, talking.
Yeah there’s a guy in Plat who purposely pulls people into objects (he plays DH) and claims to be constantly throwing for high-ranked players. I guess it makes him feel important. Toxic people like that are the minority but very noticeable. Anyways the best you can do is improve and keep climbing so that eventually, you can objectively say that you’re one of the best. The trash talk only gets to you when you kind of feel like it’s deserved.

You’re exactly right, I don’t report people for most trash talking since I’ve caught myself doing it. It’s just the toxicity has made pvp not worth attempting anymore.
Do what I do. Ignore them instantly and don’t even respond. If you let them get to you, you have already let them win. Obviously if they do this toxic behavior to you, they do it on a regular basis, and probably a good portion of the server already has them on ignore.
It’s one thing to be average or below average, it’s another for someone to rub it in like a 4 year old over the internet, and focus on the problem, not the solution. If you are actually below average, even if they are correct there is no reason to act this way.
Negative Nancys usually have nothing else going in their life other than the satisfaction they get over insults over the intarwebz, which is quite sad. If they cannot focus on the solution, and insist on childish insults based on a fixable problem that they themselves could contribute to fixing, simply ignore and move on.
You cannot expect someone to get better at PvP by not playing PvP at their current skill level. It’s how progression works.
TL;DR – pvp is toxic
Anyone have similar experiences?
Jupp. I dont play PvP very often and every time i am repelled by the PvP community.
Openworld and Harder Content is always like black and white.
PvE is actually a very friendly environment, but as soon it gets difgicult people get salty. And because PvP is never an easy cake to bite people get very salty very fast.

I am surprised this thread is still up considering how we supposed to pretend that everything is fluffy and wonderful and there is NO issues in game. Anyone saying otherwise is supposedly lying (not my words).
My block list is very very long.

I want cookies for everyone!!!!
thats what i do on toxic players, i give them a cookie and ask him if he is fine, or if he needs a break.
Most players loose really fast the madness on themself after i did that
It doesnt help on all players, but its atm the most effective way that i know to help out
Oh and cookies are really cheap + EVERYONE LIKES COOKIES!!!!

PvP communities are toxic. Welcome to gaming bro!!
Especially the losing teams get salty real fast. But the block list exists for a reason!
Just focus on improving yourself and crush all those lil kittens.
Youre welcome
I normally love salty players it means im doing something right. however if its one thing i hate more than toxicity is AFKr’s they are the scourge of pvp. i dont care if youre 0-500 you dont stop playing unless it is literally a GG ie. you are 200 points behind with 30secs on the clock thats a GG.

I had some guy afk because i played thief. He said he afk’s in every match that has a thief unless thief rerolls. He wasn’t joking either.

he was most likely fanboi’ing noscoc, during the time that thief was unviable (meta) good players obviously could make it work.

I more then likely met this guy on my team for my 2nd and last Ranked match of Season 7. He told us the same thing. Of course I didn’t bother feeding him with the salt he was looking for.
I simply just refuse to play another fixed ranked game. Simply out of the same spite that ANet is now cash farming the cheaters with multiply HoT accounts. By feeding them legit players who are actually trying to play the game legitimately. In the end of the day GW2’s ranked leagues are no less P2W then BNS’s 6v6 Soulstone Plains matches.
Thank you but no thank you ANet. I’m not like most of these drones, I can go elsewhere where great PvP does happens and is fully supported. And backed by a competitive PvP business model.
I’ll leave this thread with this finally note. Notice how fast ANet moves on PvE issues. Awesome PvE in this game. Very good quality PvE for the buck. However PvP is completely dumpster grade in this game compared to others.
But at least I admit it!
PoF guys get ready for PvE joys
ANET doesn’t punish this behavior.. although there’s a rumor that they “award” dishonor for negative reports.
If true, this is perhaps the worst normative mechanism I have ever seen. Punish a misbehaving player by making them have worse games. Don’t tell them though.
That way a kittened player will have even worse games and not know why. This is certain to help them feel better and thus behave better.
Shaking my head @ ANET.

As a compeditive gamemode, I have to go in with the understanding some people simply don’t have the maturity to be there – and it does, at times, get stressful. That’s just pvp – you’d be lying if you didn’t curse like a sailor after watching a team mate pull off a stupid move like getting facerolled 1v4 off-point. And I’m sure some people get frustrated at my play too.
I just hope that by playing my best, others will try their best too. Unfortunately, like the OP said, people in high silver/low gold give up and turn on eachother after a 100 point lead or even after the first failed skirmish on mid. This isn’t fun to play against, and it certainly isn’t fun to play for.
But, there have been redeeming games, at the very least.
Its a bit of a trend to flame if you lose…..good players who carry every game do it but bad players who get farmed all game do it aswell.
^ Once you realize this you realize there is no point to react to it.
The “feedback” you get is most often so far from what actually happened that its totally irrelevant and is best to be ignored.
