I would say condi mesmer is far more stupid and annoying lol
The trap is usually where the ranger is standing because the points are small. Dodge through it or bait the ranger out (condi ranger usually has no lb). The animations for traps are obvious so just avoid the area or dodge through it and out.
Not hard to counter at all.

This applies to every matchup except vs a mesmer or another thief
If you know they are a trapper ranger, all you need to do is stay ranged. The downside to their ability is that it relies on the enemy being on top of the trap. So if they are a trap ranger and they are sitting on a point that probably means that that point is stacked with traps and you should just stay away from close combat. If you have a pet, all you need to do is make the pet go in first, and activate the traps themselves, and then you go in for the kill. If you can’t range or you don’t have a pet, then you better have some condi cleans cause that’s the strength of the build, and is just something that you need to deal with/accept as a counter towards your specific build .

Just leave them on cap and do what?
Dodge through the cap, then still gotta get off cap, then ranger just drops another round of traps.
So what do you do vs trappers?
you kill it and take the point afterwards, even if the ranger can cap it in the meantime. they’re not very sustainable, have no stunbreaks if they run 3 traps and are a one trick pony.
p/p thief?
Pew pew them off point. When they die, dodge through their traps. Stomp them. Holding the cap if you can’t win the fight is pointless.

Personally? I just out clear the condis. Not even joking. Or set a pet or clone to set it off. Or just range them because they are going to sit on the point with no way to retaliate as I drop nades or mortar. I mean it is build where if you Stop Dueling you will always win. CC (because his utilities are traps). Or just spike from ranged. They have to close the gap and sit on point to fight. While you should always fight on point they have kitten offense if you never close the gap. If you just want to kill it range his behind and watch him melt. If he closes the gap to you off point hell have to set up a trap to make any sort of competent offense. Which means no trap on cap and take it.
The traps have a small radius so if you are careful you can still contest larger points
This build is not immortal just cheesy and not even in the bad way.

2 traps = at most 1 stunbreak/invuln. CC chain them to death.
They have awful condi clear. Either a signet you can see, at most 2-3 skills that can remove up to 6 condis, or RNG condi removal every 10 seconds. They also have really bad mobility, so you can just ignore them and rotate around them. Just treat them like a really selfish bunker guard that can’t support their team.
Or you can go full aids and run rabid burn engie.
Wait spike trap is a waste almost 90% of the time (stability, triggered by AI, dodged… etc)
Flame trap last 3 sec
Nest deals 0 dmg
Frost is bugged
I suggest more l2p and less QQ
As others said before, having traps means having less stunbreaks and such so stunlock is a threat but don’t forget the taunt which trapper will try to use defensively when pressured.
Also if you play zerker thief with 11k hp and no condi removal that’s your own fault.

each time a ranger uses a trap he will Arm the trap #( you’ll see a Arm movement aiming to the ground then he still stealth at that location is where a Trap is, Remember that location don’t walk on it.
if you do walk on it the ranger will use its other two traps to Take advantage of you triggering the first trap because the first is a Fire Trap followed by spike Trap and Axe split blade to stack burns+bleeds in the firefield the spike trap hold you in place for 1seconds with a KD, so avoid the first trap and the builds damage is not as strong or effective.
Kiting is more effective vs trap ranger than trying Go for a quick kill , keep note of where he stealths and go no closer than 400yards to that area or you will be trapped in a circle of traps around you as the ranger ties to sheep herd you into them , so kite back away for 2-3 seconds and counter attack, by backing away the Ranger has to use a Second trap to continue his super speed and stealth , again keep note of where the trap it.
on the second plant its time to counter attack he will be short of traps with two being on cooldown at this point set up your CC and Damage with a condition to keep his Hp in check , the Ranger will try to counter defence with a wolf KD+fear untill his traps are off cooldown or use A+Dagger(to evade defence) bait the dagger evade with a large damage attack then hit the CC after doing the CC after means he can’t plant a trap and escape then follow up with cleaves and soft CC’s.
but the main ideal is keep track of where he stealths and kite away from where he stealths super speed kicks in before stealth so you can see if he moves left or right go in the opposite direction not in the same direction or you will run into his second trap but not so far to reset forcing his cooldowns on traps, don;t fall for using a CC first against his Axe weapon set as it will be Evaded or dodged so use a Ranged soft CC or a throw blade or somthing to bait a dodge or two.
though trap rangers have One Stun break shared anguish transfers the first CC , KB,KD,push,pull,stun ect to the pet so make sure you hit with a quick CC early in the fight after the first two planted traps to trigger the trait.

Fight off point, you can even bring scorpion wire and drag them off point and dps away.
Kite around if needed.
Engie:
Rifle
Pistol
Fight off point, kite around if needed.
Can even use turrets and just make it rain on him.
Could also use mortar and turn it into a ranged fight.
basically, use the same mechanics you use to fight turret engies.
