they made it so you are in some weird view when your on it. its no longer the first person view it was.
ANET usually has reasons behind stuff. but i am begging change this back fast it is so weird and un called for.

Î noticed nothing wrong with the trebuchet after the patch.
then you must have never used one before.
now im a sitting target i cant see when ppl are coming up on me so i can prepare for a fight.
is that the reason for this or was it accidental.?

Treb works exactly the same for me. And by first person do you mean third person?

Got a screenshot to show us? I logged on to see the color change but then went to work so I can’t actually see what you mean. Screenshot ftw!
I can confirm something was changed.
In fact, the update occurred during a tourny I was playing. We entered Kyhlo and I had a chance to use treb for a while. It definitely felt different but I couldn’t recognise the difference.
I think there really is something with the camera.
I always use the treb. I did not notice anything. Did you try angling your view with the mouse? It seems to move just as fine as before.
I always change it so I can see the whole map and see who’s coming at me right away, so maybe I did not notice a change in the default setup.

Yes it’s definitely changed, the view is not the same as before (more zoomed in giving disadvantage when using treb), and the camera seems fixed when I move the treb left or right, it used to move before with treb.

That’s pretty much it! I understand now what this weird feeling was.
this is how it looks now. instead of a top from the trebs eye view were we can see. now we are basically looking from the ground its very low we cant see much hard to see.

You can’t see people coming at you from side with this camera setup…it sux
Sometimes in our base, the trebuchet is not ours, this is the enemy trebuchet that we need to destroy.
I believe it is because the combinatin of GW2 Camera system that pushes itself accordingly to the terrain and the increasing the hitbox of the trebuchet. Well im almost sure.
Could be an improvement to make treb harder to defend.
Does Mesmer portal repair still work? If it does, then I could care less about other changes. My ele doesn’t usually Treb anyway. That single mechanic kinda ruins that map for me.

the problem i am talking about is now when we are on treb we cant see anything. it now is basically blind fire trebs and hope you get hits. (spray and pray) it basically = zero skill and lots of luck.
if you are shooting enemy home point it is most noticeable.

could be to make the trebber easier to kill?
i was thinking that also but Anet would have told us they were doing it and there reason. i think this just happened (the treb is bugged) because with how much skill this game takes i dont think they would make something that takes zero skill to do just so a thief can sneak up and kill you easier.

NEW TREBUCHET CHANGE SINCE PATCH:
When using the trebuchet, the camera zooms in very sharply into the back of your character, making it difficult to see your trebuchet trajectory and where the aiming arrow is pointing at.
Before, using the trebuchet would zoom the camera OUT and above, so you had a larger field of vision and using the aiming arrow would feel a lot more precise. Now the camera zooms very close over the shoulder of your character (as if the camera is pointing up from the ground).
This also makes it difficult to see enemies approaching your trebuchet.

Camera angle seemed fine to me.
The only significant change I noticed is how much smoother the treb worked. Rotating it was far less clunky than it was before.

- Camera position is no longer high behind the trebuchet, but low fixed around your character.
- turning or firing the trebuchet often makes your character leave the treb (and puts the fire skill on cooldown when firing).

I know what you are talking about but I’m talking about another bug for trebuchet,because that’s not the only one. Do you thing that’s good when you can’t use your trebuchet because this is the enemy trebuchet instead ?
When I’m Red and when at the blue place I couldn’t destroy the enemy trebuchet but instead I could use it, I think there is a problem and even if it’s occasional it is good to report.
That’s just another information about the malfunction of the trebuchet. By the way the title of this topic is : Trebuchet is broken.. So I explain my case that’s it.
I think if we want improve the game we need to report everything about one subject, here the trbuchet. We don’t want a fix for something and the next week there is another bug. It’s not step by step that we want it’s a general fix about it to fix it once and for all.

i was shocked when i played trebuchet today. as ppl stated before:
-camera doesnt zoom out but zooms in -> i have to manually zoom out but its still weird.
-i get ejected from trebuchet at random
on the screenshot you can see that the treb is not in the middle of the screen. if you are not experienced at using the trebuchet, you will have a difficult time. i wouldnt mind about the whole change but the main problem is: one can’t see ppl coming towards the trebuchet like before.

You hit 2 people while just standing there pressing 2 buttons,one for 10k one for 11.5k….and you couldn’t see who is coming as well?!
That is unacceptable Arenanet,i am uninstalling as we speak.
not being able to see ppl incoming is not what i care about. i have ppl telling me when i have inc anyway.
my problem is i cant see were i am shooting. i want it to be skill were i aim at ppl not just blindfire.

I honestly hate the thing, every other map has a feature that promotes mobility and award points, where as the trebuchete simply gives one guy the ability to be in every fight in a decisive way, I find it completely not fun and I enjoy kilo maps when the trebs are never touched. This starts out at complete hatred in tournament matches and just boils to vehement hate by the time I try to play pug games.
We are looking into this issue and may have found one potential problem with the new trebuchet model. If anyone that is seeing an issue could record it and make a video, it would help a lot to see exactly what you are seeing. Thanks!
Original trebuchet camera angle:
At 00:22, you can see the old viewing angle while on trebuchet. The camera is situated above the trebuchet, zoomed out, and looking down. The warrior is a Norn – seeing how small the Norn is on the screen gives you an idea of how much the camera zooms out.
Also, notice how in the old viewing angle, the screen is centered on the TREBUCHET, so you get a clear idea of where you are aiming with the arrow. The new viewing angle is centered on THE PLAYER with the trebuchet slightly off to the side.
Compare this to the viewing angle on the screenshots posted in this thread and you can clearly see the difference.

Please change it back so that the camera is centered on THE TREBUCHET, so that players have a clearer image on where they are pointing the trebuchet with the aiming arrow.
The new viewing angle centers the camera ON THE PLAYER with the trebuchet off to the side, so it makes aiming a lot more confusing because the aiming arrow is not originating from the character – the aiming arrow is still based on the trebuchet that is now off to the side.

i can just LOL to guys that say use lot of treb before patch and dont see any change after patch.
serious or you are lying and didnt use much treb or you have some serious problem on our eyes.
i am a mesmer and for obvious reason i am always on treb on tournaments, the camera view now is so bad that last tournaments my team did no one were using treb because is pretty much useless now
correct this please or batle kylo soon will be just a normal map without anything special

Camera angle is now adjusted to person using treb… if you use asura ofcourse you will see less from top of your head, then lets say Norn. Why should a small class have all advantages withouth any disadvantages while norn or charr is disandvantegous thanks to his size.
The camera is zoomed in a bit but I actually find it more responsive when turning to aim the shots. You can still see a majority of the map, at least on a widescreen display. I do think the change makes it a bit tougher for new players to just pick up learning the treb, but for people that have been using it right along you should know the angles and distances to hit each point.

you talking rubbish. knowing the angles is fine but you have no overview on the battlefield itself. if you are aiming at windmill/mansion you cant see anything else, check my video above.
yes we do know the angles and distances. but that doesnt mean we should have to just play the game with our eyes closed cause we know were stuff is at.
from your video immortal home point and mid dont seem to bad is what ppl are saying and i can see there point. but far point trebing is absolutely horrid.
