lost 2 rounds… went up 12,300 ranks. Glad this still exists. :P
The good news is that they lost, twice. Which suggests to me the queue syncing they were taking advantage of is gone.
One of reasons they’re staying at the top is because their MMR was heavily inflated while matchmaking was broken and it takes a while to drop. The reset on the 29th will drop it much faster.

Makes no sense… I kinda hope titles aren’t given as a reward to the leaderboard. These guys would then be rewarded for going on a very short win streak and not playing for a while. It doesn’t represent skill or dedication. At least the QP titles given were based on total QP and that shows experience.

absolutely right
why get rewards for a broken system?
I mean the fact that Crs Azshene is still in the first 3 proves many things..Actually this system is rewarding for those you play a little and then afk..Fact
lol its the imaginary decay. I didnt play for a week/2 on NA solo q. won 1 round. Went up 60 places to 9th. lol so broken

You’re right. I apologize, I shouldn’t accuse without sufficient evidence. I’ve updated my post to reflect that.
I remember getting into games with and against tage near the release of soloq. Oh, I also appreciate the transparency you’ve been providing for the community Justin, thanks!

Where is the proof they are good players though ? The boards ? Edit your post to “players” to reflect more reality.

Tage is a godlike player.

RoyHarmon.5398 is pretty much the coolest person in the world.
A possible way to explain this huge rating gain is by applying the Glicko 2 system on rating rating decay WHILE mmr is not decayed. (noone knows yet if leaderboard represents rating or mmr) Glicko2 has a value that determines how accurate your mmr fits to your rating, this value also influences rating gained . If there is a huge gap between mmr and rating(after decay) this value becomes bigger and bigger because the accuracy is not given and could be responsible for this broken leaderboard since it was never intended to split mmr from rating on purpose by the actual developer of Glicko 2.
I would hope the leaderboard technical team will let us know when the MMRs have stabilized and therefore our rank now truly represents our relative skill at successfully supporting a win on a SoloQ team.
I am guessing this will be after the reset, of course, and after the majority of regular SoloQ players have been playing for a while.
Maybe in January?
You guys (especially ArenaNet employees) should know Oblivion (aka Symbolic) and Táge otherwise you must be pretty new to the whole gw2 pvp scene…

31 games played truly shows u are a good player?

As far as I know Justin joined the team fairly recently, and Team Paradigm has not been active since, like, July.
I know Symbolic, unfortunately. I don’t know Tage that well, but everyone from EU keeps telling me how amazing he is.

Looking at it objectively…
Number 1 in solo queue. Nowhere to be found in team queue. Only 31 games played total.
Smells like an awful good candidate for sync abusing to me.
31 games played truly shows u are a good player?
The thing is, without any proof, we don’t know if he abused the system or not. He might also just have had a lucky win streak, got a top placement, and didn’t had any new targets to go for.
What happened to the presumption of innocence / innocent until proven guilty?
Maybe ArenaNet has more information on that, they are not sharing with us, other we unfortunately can not prove anything. I think most guys who participated in SoloQ did this in a legit way, and earned their way to the top.

Haha.Well i really believe someone said that the system is being restarted because it was under hard abuse and this wouldn’t normally happpen because low ranked since no one cares about ranks 9999 enough.Message was quite clear and official, top players abused the system and they want to fix this while still respecting the no namig/shaming policy. However everyone can just simply look at the leaderboards to make their own opinios about who did or did not have part in this.Imagination it’s the limit
Also i am 100% sure that there are A LOT of better players out there that did not even touch queue because they either have not enough friends to sync or simply they just don’t like to exploit for an imaginary “i am good player” when in fact that is really far from the truth and cannot even be established since atm no legitimate system exists to measure such premises. / insert random punctuation i am sleepy

Hehe “Pro” players had no goals and went inactive. But still plaid a game now and then for fun read “reset decay”. And now when decay became more aggresive they suddenly found fun in pvp again playing it a lot more often.
They abused the system in one way or another. If not by getting there by syncing then by staying there by not playing. Even DEVs are not hidding it.
Please stop accusing good players of syncing.

This reminds me of the reddit thread with the vocal abuse people asking why they were banned. Such justice.
they dont needed to sync or exploit or what ever^^
Symbolic did it even life on stream with a new account on NA – he played different classes and “tested” builds and was like 11-0 or something and was NA #1
some people could do it legit
but
i know 2 ppl for sure was sitting in teamspeak all day (same channel) and played like 10+ games all the time on same maps, same time started/ended and they are in top 50 now, i even made screenshots and i know they are for sure no top 100 playerz^^
but – relax guys, they work on a better system and you cant prooof anything so dont call people exploiter for just playing the game

I think people should think about this whole “new account” thing a bit more deep.
An exploit is the misuse of a software feature or bug in a way that allows a player to generate in-game benefits without the risk or time expected by the game’s designers. It can involve the use of a third-party program and it includes generating currency, experience, or other things of value to players. It also includes actions that allow one player to gain a gameplay advantage over other players.
New account resets your MMR something other players can not do. I think that is an advantage as such. I am not saying these players are not top or something but people trying to defend them ussualy do the opposite in my opinion.
Hmm … I didn’t play tournaments for just one day and dropped 70 ranks down (~230→300). This seems somehow weird.
Reset everything on a period of time… It’s very easy to create a new account once, but it’s not so easy to create a new account every month…. We want a system that is fair and competitive, not a joke…

That statement is patently false: I believe if you think about it for a second, you will see the flaw in your line of argument.
In essence, you are asserting that purchasing a second account is a violation of the terms of service of the first account.
I purchased a second account because I liked playing with my NA friends before soloq was even introduced into the game. While i’ll admit I did have some players I played with and against during those 11 games (Stunningstyles i played 2 with and 2 against I think), I didn’t sync queue and I’m amazed at why people think that sync queueing is why there’s people at the top of the leaderboards. Nobody in team paradigm actually sync queued, sure we might have been in the same games (with and against) but we wouldn’t use voice comms because it felt like we were abusing the system if we did. The only thing being abused here is the fact the decay system is shoddy and doesn’t work for the simple fact that anybody leaving and returning to play is instantly boosted to their old placement which I’ll admit I do abuse on the team queue leaderboards.

its not only the decay.. u must admin that 11 games dont show truly any skill and ur place is more deserved by one who played hundreds of games?
No, but those were the standards set by arenanet. If i’ve won 11 games, lost none and am #1 on the leaderboards what incentive is there for me to play if decay is barely going to effect me and playing a game means I’ll lose an insane amount of ranks on the leaderboards? The way it stands somebody can get rank 1, decide they’ll just afk there maybe lose it in a few days with the new decay system, maybe even not play for a couple of months and then bam, play a game and be back at rank 1.

Fact people sync que on twitch streams. Not so much anymore cause now they get called out for it. But the spvp community didn’t care until a month maybe 2 ago.

Many top players didn’t sync queue…. but I’ve seen multiple top players solo queue, and then use voice comms with other people, even while streaming like nothing was wrong with that.
Thedenofsin.7340-> Maybe it is maybe it isn’t you could say it depends why you bought it.
And syncing goes back to gw1 Random Arenas. And those syncers were sync reporting people with reports that add dishonor stacks that everyone wants implemented. It is a feature that will be abused again.

To be placed on top of leaderboards one should be winning non stop and playing tourneys all day…
Instead, what is happening is that people play for 1 game, stop a week, play another game, stop, play after 2 weeks…
Some guys play tourney since beta, have more than 1000 wins and are super low in leaderboard while others play 20 games and are on top…. Lol
Victory should count more, and decay also, each hour without playing should count until a maximum decay…
Let’s suppose rank #1 stops playing….
After 1 day he is #25
After 2 days he is #100
After 1 week he is #700
When he gets out from rank the decay stops and he is now 99%…. Than he comes back and has to climb up again….
If he doesn’t stop playing he can keep his #1 rank as long as he is constantly winning….
This whole issue with the decay and leaderboard AFK’ers wouldn’t be an issue at all if GW2PvP would be ‘competitive’. I mean, imagine this in GW1 for example; some “top-guilds” think it’s enough if they play only at MATs (necessary ATs are neglected for the sake of the example) and win there even though they haven’t trained/practiced/buildwars’d in meantime. Pretty sure this would have been their last appearance in a MAT for a long time.
Problem of GW2 is, there is no competitive scene anymore (if there ever was one). Everyone that tries/tried to be competitive gives up some weeks (sometimes months) later because there’s so less that makes it possible to play competitive. And we’re a year after release, and ANet didn’t really make anything to make the stuff that’s needed for competitive play better. Sure, we got leaderboards, sure, we got observermode, sure, we got CAs, but everyone knows their flaws, no reason to repeat them over and over again. But the main problem isn’t even the flaw of those features; it’s all the cheese, spam and particle-supernovas on screen.

Yeah, there are definitely players who did NOT sync Queue to get to the top, and even from those who did sync Queue, it backfired for them probably half the time. The only time you reliably get the same team is ~top 20.
I’ll go over my personal experiences for a brief moment. I was normally in the 100-200 range for about 80% of the time LB came out. I fell pretty hard when I started only playing oceanic times because that’s when MM is at its worst (vast differences between the two teams due to low population). I did go from about 700 back to top 100 and from there rubber-banded in the 50-180 range for a couple weeks. The teams were still extremely unreliable since, believe it or not, more than 5 people in the top 100 were Q’ing up at any given time.
It wasn’t until I hit rank 27 when I would consistently get the exact same players. I can literally name off each player I’d do ~10 matches w/ a night for a couple weeks. I wasn’t sync Q’ing but I did want to play. When you’re getting 20 min waits you tend not to have any control over who it puts you with, since basically even if I Q up when others are in, the wait is so long it’s just going to pair me w/ them when they’re out. On that note, though, the other team would STILL have 2-3 players in the top 75 against us though.
So from my experiences getting any semi-reliable team is extraordinarily difficult, especially during the day. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had TONS of games where I would get the same awful player ~10+ times in a row.
