Turret engis ruining Stronghold lol
yeah it’s funny how they can leave thumpers & just go about what ever.. & you cant do nada till you destroy what ever is there. But you cant cuz you get ganked with the rest of the turrets.
Turret engis are ruining PvP, not only stronghold. Braindead builds like that shouldn’t be rewarded
I’m going to call bullarky on this case. My last match of Stronghold was against 2 Engineers -1 defended, 1 attacked- and we wiped the floor with them. How, you ask? Well for one I was a Staff Ele that just AOE nuked the clustered turrets with easy. The other was my teammates, one being a Shatter Mesmer that kept doing the clone thing with Feedback too (self destroying turrets, classic). Our thief kept using the “come here!” Scorpion ability to pull the Engi away from the turrets to do the stabby stab out of harms way.
It is once again an overused complaint against a class that you personally have issues with. But by no means does everyone in the community have issues with this class or build. The choice of going outside your personal build comfort zone to instead find a more creative approach to tackling obstacles is the reason why we have so many utility skills, weapon swaps, and the trait trees.
scrubs will always be easy to wreck. turret engi just let’s a scrub become more powerful than his fellow scrubs, because it’s the only AI Sentinel build that works. anyone loosing to turrets deserves it. ya’ ate the cc, played badly and lost. sure, the engi might have played badly too but that sentinel lets him make more mistakes. most players i see are running zerk builds that they can’t play very well, it’s no surprise they are qqing about a build with cc you have to dodge.

Trust me, you WILL see a LOT of staff ele’s in this mode. It’s already a great build, but in this mode, it’s just insanely strong:

- Nuke down doorbreakers that ball up like crazy
- Stability for channeling
- General AoE Buffs for NPC’s
- Very good at killing treb
- insanely strong against builds like Turret-Engi’s
The biggest disadvantage of the build IMHO was, that he only is really strong in teamfights, because then, a lot of his defensive and offensive AoE doesn’t go to waste. In this mode, you have NPC’s around you at so many locations, that you’ll always find a place to fully utilize the build.

Trust me, you WILL see a LOT of staff ele’s in this mode. It’s already a great build, but in this mode, it’s just insanely strong:
- AoE Heal your NPC’s
- Nuke down doorbreakers that ball up like crazy
- Stability for channeling
- General AoE Buffs for NPC’s
- Very good at killing treb

In this mode, you have NPC’s around you at so many locations, that you’ll always find a place to fully utilize the build.
I can vouch for this. I played a match against some engineers using a similar tactic described by the original poster. I dropped a Meteor Shower in their turret cluster and destroyed them all with the one spell. Being forced to fight on a point was the only thing keeping the staff elementalist from being seen more often. Here there are tons of places to perch and rain down fire from the sky. Plus gate portals which elementalists can run through with their downed state’s vapor form, meaning you can’t finish them until the door is down.
Meanwhile turret engineers didn’t seem to make very good gate guardians either. I used my ranger to pull the guards away from their turrets and killed them in front of the engineer, who could only look on helplessly from the safety of their iron cocoon. Then the engineer didn’t have the damage output to kill the doorknockers before the gate was down. At least not while they had regen from my healing spring.

I just encountered a turret-engi that went offensive and dropped down his stuff in front of our gates, was pretty hard to deal with, then again, I ran Fresh Air and no1 helped me killing him. Also, I tried killing him before his turrets alone, which didn’t work and was the wrong approach.
See what I did there? Instead of instantly whining turret engis are imba because I didn’t win in a 1v1, I recognized that I had the wrong build, my team didn’t respond correctly and I played the 1v1 in a wrong way.

only really braindead build is phantasam mesmer imo. hate the stupid dps and instant 6+ bleeds. killed a guildie today (she is a solid cele cele) without even attacking her. just ran around cloaking and summoning. it’s the only build I actually loathe, and no you can’t have it. it’s too disgusting.
also beat a really good warrior with it in 1v1, and i can hardly even play mesmer. carried by stealth and ai.

A “decent” cele ele would have cleaved your phantasms down long before they become a problem.

Everybody that is NOT new to structured PvP will find that A LOT of the builds used there are being used in Strongholds. This is all new and people, as stated above, have found ways to counter some of the “brain dead” builds that are out there. If your preferred profession happens to NOT have the proper counter to what you are facing, then simply hope that somebody on your team does. Communication is important. Again, we are all still trying to learn this as we go, though I do feel like there is something missing from structured that should be there.

Yeah they should nerf that. Mist form going through portal is way too op. This way bunch of eles can fight outside spawn forever with little to no risk.

If you’re a warrior and getting juggled then you should think about the build you are playing.
I don’t see how the hell people are still QQing over Engineers here, I mean I main a mesmer and I’ve managed to literally 1v Engineer+turrets all day.
Make Clones>Throw Feed Back Bubble> Turrets hit themselves not me, I throw a either chaos storm and bounce conditions back and forth and chaos armor and I just out boon their dmg.
As for the rest of you guys, there are OTHER classes that can aid. There is NO shame fighting someone with help. (team games)

Overall engi is favored in this game as to this day many of their op abilities/traits are not nerfed so its safe to assume that engi is their gold child. I bet the specialization flying turrets will be even more broken and they wont do anything about that as how they dare to nerf engi ;o i mean its the least playable class so its needs moar buffs. Still interesed for a proof that he playing turret engi for some lulz

There is no outrotate in stronghold – my teammates fault -sure, maybe, single medi guard made for mobility isn’t good offender (trying out stuff) but it felt kinda stupid to send skritts to death. That said 2vs1 him. Problem is he got +oned not me. Problem is that turrets deal more dmg and serve more cc than other AI’s build (which by the way is the easiest way to prove that turrets are not balanced). Actually turrets can get better sustained dmg than people whoo build for dmg. When wearing sentinel. Balanced.

Yeah, because turret engi is so different. Let me tell you a secret, it’s not.
Also, everyone in this game knows the build but they don’t run it. Wanna know why? You might think about it a bit more.
If you can’t figure out how to take out turrets, no one can help you… I mean I get it if you are a zerk thief, but that’s about all I will give you. They are even easier to counter in Stronghold.
