Uhmmm you forgot something?

Are you saying you don’t like seeing you killed someone while you were off doing something else? Otherwise you need to read the post again, I said fun to play with but not against.
I like to use atleast some skill to get a kill rather than seeing walk to me and down, its really boring

Tell me about it, either the traps need to be retuned or the capture points need to be larger. The only exception being of course Foefire mid, where there is actually enough room to properly play against these things, however, the last time I actually had a game on Foefire was oh so long ago.
Amusing statement, I don’t play traps and I do know how to play a guardian very well, yet when I went ranked a few times with traps, everyone just stabbed out of it, dodged it or just face tanked it (bunker build) easily.
Yep guards 2 shot everyone, that’s why it’s been so effective in ESL /s

Ya omg so true its a good thing that the other 99.9% of the player base isn’t in ESL.
More news, world hunger solved because Bill Gates ate dinner last night!

ESL plays are the closest thing you will see to perfect mechanical interaction between classes, and guards are so hilariously outclassed by other meta builds except thief. Classes SHOULD be balanced around their perfect mechanical interactions because anything less is a player fault and l2p issue. Guards just happen to have a lower skill floor making it easy to pick up and be effective, but the effectiveness quickly drops off compared to other classes.
Taking a nerf hammer to it out of kneejerk reaction to inexperienced players complaining will make it the next warrior class, and we all see how much of a dive it took in the past couple months because the mob all got out their pitchforks. Getting one shotted because you walked into 5 traps then stood in all the damage makes it about as OP as a rifle warrior one shotting you. In other words, you got killed by a one trick pony, who should then be punished by the rest of the team for running a crappy build with no survivability.
Guard needs some fine tuning – nerf in certain areas and buffs in others, and hyperbolic language doesn’t contribute anything to the discussion.
tl;dr any sort of 1 shot trap guard build is completely worthless outside the one time you get baited into the traps and for some reason didnt just dodge out of it. It’s completely ineffective at higher levels of play and a straight nerf to traps would break the class at more than just the lower levels.

Lol, what is the point of balancing for tournaments that gain less attention than unreleased games (see Blade and Soul) when the rest of the population disagrees with decisions made on that level. ArenaNet can keep balancing this way, but don’t be surprised when the ONLY people left playing are ESL competitors, since apparently this game was not designed to be played by anyone of a lower level of play.

Stop making this treat about dragon kitten traps please, it’s part of the issue but not the main focus of this treat, plenty of others to be found elsewere.

oh my kittening god they banned the word hunt art (when spelled right)
I’m sure DH can be toned down a bit to raise the skill floor, but a straight damage nerf to traps is not the answer to the “1 shot trap” problem. The class is already barely viable at the top.
I’m already derailing this topic so I wont go into details here lol.

The main issue I have with dh traps is that they lie around for 5 minutes and when you go decap a point with nobody on it and suddenly you get half hitted by invis traps before you dodge, youre severly disadvantaged when somebody comes to defend the node. You can call that tactic or a l2p issue (like learn to dodge into an undefended point because the risk is there?) that doesnt make it any fun to play against. And that is what this treat was about.
There’s actually quite a bit of time to react between the trap triggering and you getting locked into a potential dragon’s maw so you eat the full procession of blades damage. If you dodge sideways as soon as you see the traps trigger, you’ll get away with a small scratch.
In any case, if a guardian is running that kind of build, he should be an easy farm everywhere else in the game because he has sacrificed ALL his defensive utilities for traps. Train him down hard and focus him every fight until he learns his lesson.
I see you never played against a chrono well bunker… Else your list would consist of nothing but that one build.
The mob has spoken and the turrets shall be burnt at the stake.

I concider that support mesmer, wich is listed.
You know, all this talk of Guard traps, I’ve been playing my vanilla Guardian I’d been using in matches, and today was fighting a Mesmer who insisted on never entering the capture point I was defending. In retrospect, maybe he assumed I was a Dragon Hunter and had trapped the place up, but it really allowed me to whittle him down.
you spend complaining about it on the forums, you’d be
done by now.”
Just give a global cooldown on traps so guards can’t cluster stack all of them in 2 seconds and we good.
