Um, is this supposed to happen?
Well, I’m sure in most people’s opinion changing classes mid match should not be possible. But judging from anets stance on not doing anything about it, it might be here to stay.

Oh ok so this is actually something that other people have had happen/know about? Surprised I haven’t seen a thread about it.

There are plenty but i figure most people at this point are tired of repeating the same subjects.
Shame on you for rage quitting.
But yes, that is what happens when you swap characters.
You can switch toons by logging off and back on. They wantt to fix this.
But yes it keeps you in the same tourny.
Also, you should be banned from doing tournies for a day for quitting.
Some penalty on quitters anyway needs to be imposed. Take your loss like a man.

Sure I’ll take a one-day ban right after the guy who was afk when the queue popped to put us down one. And the afk glory farmers that just sit at the spawn.
Sorry, but I’m not feeding kills and glory to the team that also already has a guaranteed win.
There’s nothing wrong with sitting out when you’re in an impossible situation. I think you should tell your team in teamchat that you won’t be playing, though.
The original tournament system was unfortunately designed around 5-man premade groups. The way that rosters work, for example, is very good and flexible if you’ve got 5 people in your party, talking about which professions you want to take, etc. But it’s not helpful and very unintuitive for people queueing solo.
Two issues make the problem bad:
—hotjoin is not fun for a large group of semi-casual players due to constant zerging, farming, all glass cannon builds, etc. Thus, they queue for solo free tourneys, but:
—everyone is doing paid tournaments right now because they have a better format and matchmaking. So frees take so long to pop that the casual players often forget they’re in the queue or log off before the tournament starts.
This problem should get fixed when they redesign free tournaments as a solo-queue single match alternative to hotjoin.
I have won several 4v5s in my time.
I even won a 3v5 once!
Don’t even give up just because you have a numbers disadvantage, man. That’s just pathetic.
I wish AN added an hour long ban for people who do what the OP tried to do. Forcing them back in obviously isn’t getting the message across.

Not sure how that would help…?
Sure, he should at least try until his team gets wiped and then tell his team he’d rather not go back out of spawn. But the problem is the first guy that didn’t show up, not the OP.
I think the best fix is to make free tournaments into single matches for solo/duo queuers. Fast pops so people don’t forget they queued and log off, no more pro vs pug, the possibility of using the same matchmaking program they’re already testing in paids. Best of all, an alternative to hotjoin for casual/semi-casual players.

Well yeah, the laws of probability dictate that you would eventually win an unfair match-up if you play enough matches.
However I’m content to leave due to the much more likely outcome. Sorry, but I’m not there for charity. The enjoyment of the game was already ruined for everyone the second it was a 4v5. Don’t make me the bad guy for doing something more valuable with my time. I’m not there to be a practice dummy for the other group, that’s not fair to me either.

That first guy might have shown up if that was in effect. That, and there wasn’t any guarantee that he wasn’t going to come back on.
