Just wanna qq on this thread. So I got to 23/30 riding a 3 game win streak in Ruby and thought maybe I would finally get to diamond. Next thing you know I’m slammed with a 5 game losing streak. I win 1 game then another 5 game losing streak. Now I’m back to 15/30 all in 1 hour. Haha gotta love match making

Actually 1 pip shy of ruby. Was stuck at sapphire T1 for 2-3 days (weekends). Lately I’m getting over 50% winrate and crawling out of sapphire. But that’s only because I decided to change my thief main with a mesmer that carries surprisingly well. Even though I’m mediocre mesmer at best I am rekting most meta builds with relative ease.

I can agree with you on the thief side. Even though I takedown targets relatively fast. With all the aoe spam I can’t help the teamfights to allow my team to snowball from there and I effectively leave them in 4v5. What’s worse is that … every class seemingly has a reflect now. And, well…I can’t use my shortbow for things other than shadowstepping. If i dare to shoot at people chances are I’ll shoot myself 90% of the time. If I go melee I’ll be torn apart by AoE condis and AoE stuff in general so I can’t pressure correctly.

That’s not how i run things on mesmer. I can actually stomp now! Which is cool. Because usually my teammates don’t know what stomp or cleave is. It’s really cool. Might make a reaper next and #1 #2 my way into diamond. We’ll see.

+1 Shatter Mes is worse than Necro.

Shatter mes obliterates reapers hands down. Or most reapers I face are bandwagoners and just spam 2-3 skills + heal (which is surprisingly effective versus most classes, especially if ur team has a boon buffing rev). Either way, I’m actually happy we get reapers now as a shatterbot. The scepter corrupt is unfun when I’m being chased by a reaper but hey … eventually i blink away xD

To be matched with people who know what stomp/cleave is. And that it is pointless to be a 3-man group on a single cap while nobody is attacking you. Because this is all I get in soloQ. If you don’t, all good for you. golf club clap

Sure, I’m not perfect, I make mistakes like everyone else but when nobody tries to cleave a downed person I automatically consider the idea of AFKing.

When I play with my team sometimes we do an enemy teamwipe while they try to ressurect a downed player and snowball the freaking map. The pugs I’m matched with are absolutely and definitely UNABLE to do this thing.

Sometimes I +1 a 2vs2 situation, I help kill one of the enemy players and run away to cap/decap some other point

My teammates proceed to die to the 1 remaining person who just ate kittenload of condis and general aoe splash damage.

You tell me if my expectations are sane or insane.

P.S: I also wish my pugs in the upcoming season to have half a brain and not walk willingly into marks/traps/wells expecting to win something. This is like the most common stupid thing I see.

See maybe i have a weak nervous system, but after 5 minutes of the same mistakes over and over and over I lose the will to fight in such a game and just go and duel some people here and there 1on1. Who cares really when the score is 450 vs 50-100. It’s not like this joke of a team is suddenly going to git gut and snowball the map. Not that it’s impossible but unlikely to happen in soloQ environment.

I rest my case.

P.S.S: In my last match for last night I had a [TCG] thief in my team. I tried to talk to the guy about tactics and kitten. He then proceeded to go mid alone and afterwards jump around the temple of the storm without engaging any enemy. Effectively making the game 4v5

Needless to say that guy was an kitten. e

I have 66% winrate and looks like my lossrate gets triggered as soon as I get to 4th pip.

When I say I, I mean its pretty much true for everyone. Maybe ANET can boost win chance at 3rd – 4th pip while boosting loss chance at 0-1-2 pips? Not sure. But, this is kitten well frustrating.

Then again,

Last night I had a match with a guy who would not leave treb even when the enemy team had no treb. He said that he chose that map because he wanted to treb. I was 1 pip away from next tier. I mean no matchmaking tweaks can fix that. Only updates in WvW can. I really pray that before season 3 WvW gets updated and trebbers and zergers go back their homeland.

I myself winstreaked to sapphire T4 and got stuck a bit. Then I started to duo and got another winstreak to ruby T4. Then I mixed solo/duo into diamond.

I have been playing ele/engi/mesmer this season. Mesmer is not on the level of the 4 meta choice yet(ele,engi,rev,necro) but I believe it is tied with druid as the 5th best after those.

It only is if you know how to rotate your skills, and the necro on enemy team doesnt know how to counter play properly. I immediatly switch builds when I see a mesmer on opposing team, usually ending with me killing mesmer with his own boons and condis.

Only met one mesmer so far I simply couldnt kill, he was that good.

I was partied with shovel and sticker when they were close to getting to diamond. We had a full party and i think we went 3-1. We crushed 2, close game on 1 and did decent vs the team we lost too.

Its just hard because alot of us dont play a ton of games. So it kind of sucks to see sticker, shovel and kanto fall back in tiers when they were so close. Its odd because we were not in TS but when we were full party it was easy and everyone kind of knew where everyone was going. And everyone could call out what they didnt like rotation wise.

Even when we were in a party of 3 it was bad because the 2 other players just were not on the same page as us. I mean at this moment i only play 3-4 games at most during 1 sit. If our 5 man team that day decided we were gonna do it. We probably all could of hit diamond after 4-5 more games.

Lol … who kills an engi 1on1 :O I tried scrapper last week and the worst I got was a stalemate (e.g. I couldn’t kill my target but they couldn’t kill me either). The sustain with hammer is real xD

Also I forced some DH bandwagoners to cri really really hard.

I guess it is time to start communicating at the start of the game. I think there should at least still be some nice ppl around that are willing to listen to advice.

Is it normal for someone in Ruby division to rush Beast at Forest?

Maybe you have reached your wall for now and to progress further you have to improve a bit?

Normal, no… but without a thief or mes on other team… and if midfight is hopeless due to necro stacking vs ele stacking… yes, even I tend to rush beast then.

It is situational.

Why rush mid after capping close when fight is clearly not gonna be lost and you can leave close open due to
a) either 5 enemies account for and not moving towards close
b) backportal
when you can just as easily go take one or even both beasts.

There is no one way to play a certain map in conquest, its all situational.

Of course, communication is key… and when nobody is communicating, you only can do the cookie cutter approach. In that case, rushing beast is most likely not good.

Because you were being matched against scrubs who don’t know what assist is …. usually the teammates I get in soloQ. literally you shouldn’t be alive after mesmer moa (which has increased duration over engi’s AoE moa)

Go send ANet a cookie for matching you with decent teammates. Because it freaking infuriates me when my teammates go chase half HP shrouded reaper when there’s a moa’d druid and I need a little bit of firepower to finish them. Most of the time I do it alone but sometimes my cooldowns are not nearly ready but I’ve decided that I should drop the moa in that precise moment.

Funny thing is, I’ve never missed to land a moa. Guess people overestimate how good they are at dodging around this forum

I guess. I also survived a double moa once by just kiting it around the pillars in forest. I think the timing for the moa is also pretty important, if you just throw it at full HP rev who just kited of a teamfight it prolly won’t work that well always

not the best idea, but when you’re on engi and are down to <1000hp with healing on cooldown it can be fun to just annoy people by launching an aoe moa bomb =)

can also be a useful tactic for escaping the fight when being focused heavily so using it defensively rather than offensively

Love it when I play on scrapper Set the cam to birdview -> drop that moa behind you -> bunch of people get moa -> kite away without pressure /o/ xD

Moa should be unblockable like those necro marks

However I mostly keep the moa to scare would be stompers/ressurecters

yes moa can (and sometimes does) down you, but often it disorientates people briefly enough for you to be able to disengage a fight and get enough distance that either you can kite them off point or reset so you can heal up and come back in anew.

when doing it to annoy people i only do that when the match is already lost, or when in unranked because what is unranked for if not to have fun :p

and yes for the most part necro’s should be off point at the start unless you know you can survive long enough to get your life force up and switch to shroud before you die without the ele having to blow a bunch of cooldowns early… and informing them that you’ll be fine, works best on coms though as you can call for healing or not

but as necro’s tend to be focused first havign the ele keep them alive longer whilst others on your team focus someone on the other team may not be the worst thing in the world. all depends on many different variables (such is the fun with sPvP)

This. Corruption necros are a real pain in the kitten for a scrapper, the other day I got once, during a match, two corruption necros who were in party that I didn’t see coming: got rekt in few seconds with their condibombing.

Condishatter mesmer are another thing, so far I only met one of those who was really good at it and put me under great pressure, but you can drag the fight for quite some time if you know how to time cleanses.
