With a slight build adjustment, necro can burst condis harder than ever before.
Necro marks are fine btw necro got nerf hard it will be prob out of the meta if you remove the marks unblock you need to buff them in some way right now the have bad power damage and fair condi damage
I would say my main issue with Marks is that if you drop on on top of someone they trigger instantly. Unless I’m mistaken even if you stand still the Mark still triggers instantly. If you had to walk to trigger them it would add an interesting bit of counterplay where if you stand still you can time your dodges more effectively.
Marks dont need counterplay necro is defintly not in the position where any further nerfs are needed. How can people be so delusional.

Ya, he can burst a golem for extra 10 stacks of bleeding using all his cds, so gucci.
You do know you need 4-5 stacks of bleed to match the old chill dps. Any single skill other than using field combo does that?
And unblockable marks have been around for years…

Actually a condition necro have 12 skills/sigil chance to inflict chill (with a top condi build). 16 if you use the focus, but is so bad that no one want to use it on spvp.
2 by shouts (utility+elite)
2 by staff (mark 3+5fear)
8 by RS combo 5+4+3fear
1 by traits
3 by sigils+rune
All that losing all your skills just to spam chill, losing all your skills just to spam 16 bleed.
If you want to inflict bleed is simply better to only AA, you will also inflict poison and convert boons, dealing more damage in lesser time than spend all your time to try to deal damage with chill.
And after you spam that 16 stack of bleed (that don’t even stack all at the same time why you need more than 8 seconds to inflict them all to the enemy), you have all your skills in CD and you will deal no more damage by chill, losing your old chill dps for a long time.
In PvE it can be a good thing why bleed stack and there’s foods to make it last longer and make you able to inflict more damage.
Against a training dummy you can still inflict a barely good damage, but against a player that dodge, block, move, evade, cc you, that’s a really Huge Nerf.

By this logic I have problem with ranger longbow auto attack it damages me when it hits me it stood only damage me when I’m moving it would give nice counterplay marks are no traps you can see them……

Same for Thiefs without Remove for Evade. Maybe the Pressure is lower now, but its in the End not a Nerf in all aspects. Its also a buff at the same time.

I would rather take my old chill on Glint/before sword#3 than this. Even thief is probably that suffered more due to chill, bcause unless they removed it instantly every time it ticked for 600 a few times.

Are you serious right now?
You need to land 5 chill attacks on a target to even equate the damage of chill damage with bleed.
What absolute idiot is going to let me land 5 chill attacks? If you face tank reaper shroud 4 and 5 then you belong in amber division.
All the same, if I have access to a block, I want to use it, if I’m chasing a reaper as a warrior, and he drops marks, I should be able to shield block, run through, drop zerker stance, and have a fighting chance, but no.
As it stands, I have to eat all the marks, then deal with everything the reaper is gonna hit me with as my stances fade.
It’s an uphill battle every kitten time. I’m super tired of it.

There are tons of unblockable skills un every class to single out necro’s is silly.
I mean oh your right while your at it lets remove all unblockable skills and roll tanks, that way we can all just stand around on points deadlocked.
All the same, if I have access to a block, I want to use it, if I’m chasing a reaper as a warrior, and he drops marks, I should be able to shield block, run through, drop zerker stance, and have a fighting chance, but no.
As it stands, I have to eat all the marks, then deal with everything the reaper is gonna hit me with as my stances fade.
It’s an uphill battle every kitten time. I’m super tired of it.
So I guess when you get magnet pulled by engineers that really screws you up too huh?

Yes, sometimes a wel placed mark can be really useful, but good marks have a high CD and you can still active berserker stance and stability and be happy, using your precious block not to go in melee with the necro but when the Necro go in RS, that is Melee, to fight you, blocking all his damage.
And if you’re a warrior and think that have unblockable markss is OP (and only 2 marks over 5 are good, but they’re damage is still Low), just look at your skills.
Example: Signet of Might: for 6 seconds all your attacks are Unblockable. CD 25 seconds.
You’re able to make ALL your attacks Unblockable (also your powerfull Burst damage skills) and you ask for a nerf to a single weapon that need a Trait to become unblockable and still is used for it’s utility (LF generation, condi transfer and fear) and not for it’s damage (that is really low).

This isn’t enough, necros need to be brought down because too op. Get rid of chill cdr increase, and maybe slow. Remove life force generation from skills, only gain from deaths. Remove dmg reduction from death shroud. Remove weakness from curses, because holy moly- completely op. Remove might gain from spite, because deeps too high. Necros are supposed to immobile, so they should only have 1 dodge instead of 2. I think this will balance necros.

I think they also need a 4 second stun upon leaving shroud, or maybe 10 stacks of torment from being death incarnate for a short while……

I could bare a .5 to 1 second wait time if they made marks better. The skills aren’t all that powerful, even if unblockable and they’re still very easily destroyed by dodge rolls.
It’s just not a real easy situation to handle, since technically, staff isn’t all that powerful, it’s just semi-decent at AoE pressure, especially since the chill nerf, the staff potency has dropped off significantly.
With some buffs to Staff 2, a reworked staff 1 and have staff 4 remain instant, I could get behind a .5-1 sec trigger.
They could also make the marks on the ground larger and more differentiated, that’d help a lot.

Im not asking for more blocks. In fact i’d trade a lot of my guardians blocks for more base HP. Since blocks do kitten all and condis rip through health pools.
The sweet victory of seeing non-condition damage users (or I guess this still only doesn’t apply to people who don’t copy and paste off metabattle.com) having to come to terms with realising the dps of chill really wasn’t that high.
Reminds me of when the zerker-no-clears-equipped boys always complained that condition users had it too easy not needing to take more than one dps stat, and then they gave us expertise and think to themselves “I’ve made a huge mistake”.
Unblockable marks are the necro’s counterplay to blocks… It’s how necros deal with rev shield5, mesmer shield4, guardian f3/shelter, etc.
Blocks in turn counter plague signet (which is huge), signet corrupts, shroud skills (except the minor chill ticks from standing in Reaper Shroud5). Unblockable marks adds counterplay, for example Staff5 to interrupt mesmer’s Shield4 and then immediately plague signet to transfer all of the torment and confusion the mesmer just stacked on you.
OP’s suggestion just dumbs the game down, which is probably why A.net never listened.
I know this might sound farfetched, but they should consider base-lining the Soul Marks LF (and rename the trait for the unblockable portion). Non-Soul reaping builds lack LF pretty heavily. This would increase diversity and quite possibly reduce the common-place of having unblockable marks in the first place. It’s too necessary right now to have that ranged LF generation.
You might see a mix of Unyielding Blast/Decimate Defenses (a nice way to support the fading Power Necromancer) or possibly some classes to give up SR to take Curses/Spite/Reaper.
Similarly, I think the LF degeneration should be baselined as 3% per second (rather than 4 natural) and change Vital Persistance to 20% Shroud ability cooldown and -33% degeneration.
Just saying, these two changes would greatly increase diversity with very little effort and risk at making anything unexpectedly over powered, and unblockable marks would become less common.
