Unity Gaming Org is launching its first Guild Wars 2 NA & EU 5v5 Monthly Tournaments this June. The aim is to provide a monthly avenue for players to compete for cash prizes. We are working in partnership with matcherino.com. This is a crowd funding website which gives the community a chance to donate directly to the prize pool fund.

Tournament Information:

EU Tournament – 11th June – 2pm BST/3pm CEST Start Time
NA Tournament – 18th June – 2pm EDT/11am PDT Start Time

Prizing
1st Place: Cash prizing will be available for a Total of 65% share of the total prizepool raised. (Should the prizepool remain at $50 they receive the total amount)

2nd Place: Cash prizing will be available for a total of 35% of the total prizepool (Subject to over $50 being raised, otherwise in game currency will be issued)

3rd Place: 500 Gold (100 Gold per player, subject to community goals reached for 2nd place prizing)

Timings of streams will be announced closer to the event. You can donate your FREE dollar (50 free codes per Tournament) to both NA & EU tournaments. All donations go straight to the players themselves. If you purchase a reward, a % of that purchase goes towards the overall prize pool for that region.
You may also donate Gold to the tournament, as we want to supply 3rd place prizing with a 500 gold prize per tournament. Any gold raised over this figure will rollover to the next tournament and also given away in chat during the tournament streams.

NOTE: Gold donations can be sent to jebb.6819 & jebro.6370 (we may add accounts if amounts exceed the weekly mail total).

Teams that wish to take part in the Tournament must also join our discord: https://discord.gg/yxUgDVW . This is to make communication easier and to solve any issues leading up to or on the day of the tournament.

We are so happy to bring you this tournament! If the first tournament is successful, we’ll continue with regional tournaments once per month. We are also looking into in-game rewards for other events such as 1v1s, 2v2s AND 5v5s so stay tuned for news on those.

I sincerely hope you won’t split teams up in fear of a super team dominating the competition for a little while.For one it’s not a bad thing if one teams co sistentlh win and it fuels competition(look at rogue in Overwatch).If you want this to be a glorified academy gaming sure limit pro players from forming teams amongst themselves,but if you allow them to play without artificial handicaps and encourage pure competition.The scene will grow

There are no limitations for pro league players currently. Because there is no pro league and also this is a fresh start. At present there is no plan to limit players forming any team they wish. They just need to stay in the rules stated. Pretty much 1 tourney per region per month for any player

@ArenaNet It’d maybe a good idea to have this advertised on the in-game loading screens. That’d be a huge step for getting the word out.
