Utter dissappointment.
Actually no.
They have never, in any way or form, even IMPLIED that the Feature patch would go live on the 18th.
They even made a point of calling it a maintenance patch in order to avoid confusion.
But clearly they overestimated the players.
And the first time we ever heard a date was in the same sentence as they called it a MAINTENANCE patch. Maintenance != Feature

It’s your fault for expecting it to the on the 18th when they never said that.
Gee all my friends tell me that I should expect new legendaries are going to come out tomorrow, and when they don’t, I guess I should write up a post about how incensed and disappointed I’am that Anet didn’t release them on my terms!

Put up with having the reward chest bug for region transfer.
Put up with warriors having zero sustain for 10 months then being turned into a noob class going forward.
Put up with constant unreasonable moderation in the forums, despite being a clear gw2 fanboy.
Put up with the support team being unable to refund me 600k glory for about five seconds of miss clicking at 3am (despite being able to refund joe blogs for buying the wrong ascended trinket).
Put up with balance decisions showing blatant disregard for committed tpvp players
But this takes the biscuit. Arenanet please be straight with us about your content updates (and spare the maintenance/feature patch lingo).

They DID say that AFTER the living story season one was finished (which is on 4th of march) there will be a BIG feature patch that will have everything they’ve promised. So you’re telling me since they didn’t give an exact date I should understand it like this: After 4th of march could mean even the december of 2014?

That is the first time I’ve ever seen you type something remotely negative about Anet. You must be at a breaking point, my friend.
Anet, what HAVE YOU DONE???

They also said that there would be a break between finale of Living Story Season 1 and Feature Patch.
18th is two weeks after the finale. Thus it would be just like a regular time between patches.
Having a break between the two would suggest that it would not be released two weeks after, and thus not released on the 18th.

Did they say they have separate teams for PvE and PvP? Why should the PvP team have a break from PvE releases?
They’re literally separating the 2 modes when it goes in their favor but when it doesn’t, the PvP team takes a break from creating living story.

You might have missed the last months or so but they are actually going to make it less and less separated.
You are also completely ignoring the fact that the Feature Patch is not strictly a PvP patch, it will also include PvE changes and additions.

Did they say they have separate teams for PvE and PvP? Why should the PvP team have a break from PvE releases?
maybe Because PvP isn’t a big enough priority for them to separate the two? Why would they go through the trouble of separating the two just to appease a couple of forum PvPers?
Maybe they are doing what is best for them as a company?
This is an mmo forum, if someone isn’t whining chances are the game is dead.
When we whine about PvE getting all the attention and PvP getting left behind, they say that those are separate teams and that we should be patient. I’m not ignoring the fact, I’m just saying that they manipulate their community so we stay put and quiet. Which is actually effective, as I can see.
Well clearly talking doesn’t work either, seeing as people seems to be incapable of understanding what they are being told.

And I should be just dandy and happy when we haven’t gotten a single update in 3 months. Sure.
No.
But blatantly lying in order to attack ArenaNet is just silly.

Alienating half of the player types is always a good strategy. I wonder how that worked out for Trion. Oh yeah, they went f2p and lost significant revenue when the pvpers left. They couldn’t quite figure out why though…
Gentlemen, this is a public relations debacle on Anet’s part. Yet they defend themselves instead of being forthright with the community. C’mon Anet! Your goose is cooked! What’s wrong with giving us an expected time range for the upcoming feature release? The community is in a uproar and hiding behind the veil won’t help. The mob must be appeased. If only Anet can offer clear, transparent communication instead of cloak and dagger terminology (“maintenance build,” “after living story”).

Yeah, because everyone will be totally forgiving and understanding if they give us a date that they later need to push back due to unforeseen circumstances…
They have giving us a time-frame.
After a short break between after the Living Story S1 end.
Any more precise than that would be silly before everything is 100% set in stone.

time frame
noun
1. a period of time, esp. a specified period in which something occurs or is planned to take place.
No, ArenaNet did not provide a time frame. What ArenaNet did is specify when they would not be providing the balance patch. For all you know, that patch could come in October of 2311.
A time frame would have been acceptable.
But that’s not even the core of the problem. The core of the problem is that it takes TOO LONG to push out balance patches. If the team pushed out fixes every couple of weeks, the player base wouldn’t be too worried that some of the big fixes were going to take months.
There would be progress.
They have, what, 3-4 guys working on the balance team? Take 2 of them and give them the task of pushing small adjustments out with every 2 week update (i.e. nerfs to HS). The other two can work on longer-term changes, like the Sigil stuff and Ele/Ranger redesign.
They’re getting paid the same regardless, so it’s not like there’s a cost increase.

“A specified period in which something is planned to take place”.
I would say after March 18th is very much inline with that definition. Especially if one consider that they have confirmed that it will be released this year.
Which would make the planned time-frame between 14/3-31/12.

No, it is not silly. I’d agree with you except you seem to be missing the fact that they will be removing a massive portion of pvp rewards from the game. If they decided to get rid of all ascended, exotic, and rare drops from pve until “after a short break after the living story s1” the forums would riot.
The expectation would be ridiculous if the current actions planned by ArenaNet weren’t equally ridiculous. Cutting the already pitiful pvp rewards for an unspecified amount of time is not acceptable. They can either give us a real time frame or they can opt to integrate the new system when the old system is taken down.

Where did they confirm it was this year? Was that the same place they confirmed it was coming the 18th of March?
Finally, are you serious? You may think an 8 month time-frame is acceptable, but I surely do not. If I had a contractor give me an 8 month window on when to expect my house to be finished, I’d fire him on the spot.
Well, since they have never even suggested that it would come out at March 18th it wouldn’t really make sense to have it there, since it doesn’t exist
They have however stated that it will come “soon after season 1 finale” after a short break.
And that would suggest that it would be coming within a month or so after release of the last part. I’ll see if I can find the quote.
You claimed there were no time-frame, I proved you wrong. Nothing more, nothing less. I didn’t put any specific opinion on information.

Actually you haven’t proven me wrong. Cite where they said it was coming this year.
When [Living World Season One] ends [on 4th March], we’re going to take a break for a little bit and then we’re going to do one really big feature patch that is more akin to what people see from some of our [MMO] competitors,
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-01-14-you-thought-that-was-it-for-guild-wars-2
Due to the size and scope of the final four story releases in season one, the next round of major features will be bundled together into a large “feature only” release that will come after the first season of the Living World 2014 has finished.

The problem here and the on-going problem is the misinterpretation of the word "
soon" and “or so” (where is the superscript TM when you need it). So if you consider soon to be a month or so after March 18th, I am sure there are people that consider soon to be a month before Christmas.
To be fair, they have not committed to any date, this year or anytime soon… There have been comments and statements that suggest the interesting patch will hit sometime after March 18th that we might consider soon, but who know when that physical date actually is. As one of the other quotes floating around “early summer”, again not a committed date either, could easily be into June.
You see how misleading the word soon is? People aren’t mad because they hate the game and want to leave, they are mad because the love the game and want it to get better, but are having an extremely hard time sitting idle waiting for an on-record completely non-specific and indisclosed time.
It shouldn’t be that hard to see that people are concerned about being strung along. And also, I guarantee you if the devs were honest about projected dates and update those dates on a 2 week basis, people like me wouldn’t complain at all. I work in the real world, I get how things work with dates and delays, but to simply just not bother giving dates to avoid forum rage is just lazy.
Dates prevent game companies from sweeping things under the rug. They make them accountable for their plans, and it shows they are committed to the community. Constantly avoiding all things date related just indicates you believe the community is safer being completely ignorant of the proceedings of development…. which is COMPLETELY the opposite of what the CDI project is focused on.
So open communication and community interaction for upcoming suggested changes and in game implementation, and a completely closed door policy on when those changes may reach the light of day. Overly cynical certainly, but not far from the reality.

Nothing here indicates 2014. It is easy to read into it as 2014, and it would be comical if it did not occur in 2014, but you are making the same leap everyone else did about March 18th, only on a much-more-likely to not be wrong scale.
I wouldn’t really say that “a little bit” after 4th March can be considered 2015+ though.
Unless they have very big little bits over there in the US.
And the main difference between this and the 18th March is simply the fact that they blatantly stated that it wouldn’t be the Feature update when they first mentioned the date.

Guys, I’m not seeing anything good coming from this thread so I’m going to lock it.
I realize you are all frustrated that we have not been talking about dates and updates, but this is a very specific strategy that perhaps you guys will understand more when we do start talking about what’s happening.
In the meantime, you should all pay very very close attention to what your friend lordkrall.7241 has hinted at in his posts. I will say no more….
