Verbal Harassment Against Rangers
This one made me giggle, a teef that died to a single lb2 cast when he came to my homepoint and was put in a wolf fear without using any cd’s whatsoever.
Exactly why people tend to hate on rangers. You can kill a player with one skill from afar without any effort put into it whatsoever.
3 skills
1.Fear
2. fear damages on wolf > into leap
3. RF vs a target not Defending himself
its easy walking up to a Melee user and people using “Exactly why people tend to hate on rangers. You can kill a player with one skill from afar without any effort put into it whatsoever” as a excuse won’t teach them the differences between Ranged combat and Melee .
your best to bait out Rf ect first then Close in on the point as it draws the pet away from the cap point , leaving the ranger open for a Port attack , forcing him to swap pets away from that Wolf fear or the ranger will have to start kiting waiting for that wolf to return , learn to fight rangers not Walk blindly into fire.
I’ve only had this happen once. I queued up solo, ended up with 2 thieves, a mesmer, and a warrior running all signets on foefire…. so pretty much a loss from the start. I would call targets and watch as everyone attacked whoever was closest to them instead of focusing the target. Neither thief decapped far once the entire game.
I eventually went down at home and we ended up getting 3 capped, they had 3 at home and 2 on mid. I pushed far since the thieves weren’t doing their jobs, decapped it and had 1 come to kill me, won that fight and capped it and then went to check mid. Mid had a shoutbow and bunker guard sitting on it so I decided to hold them their and keep an eye on far figuring my team could win 4v2-3 at home. Well apparantly they kept losing the fight even though they outnumbered the opponent. I kept 2-3 busy at mid/far the rest of the game and the thieves kept going on in chat about how it was my fault we were losing even though I was the only one holding anything.
How the hell is it my fault if the entire team can’t win a fight where they outnumber the opponent. If we have to zerg every point it’s a lost game anyway but it’s always easy to blame the ranger.

and that is why they are changing the system to more favour condi/toughness roles so these PvE heros don’t bring too much glass into PvP and when they do out of habbit they blame the Ranger just like a Bad Parent teaching thier kids to hate on somthing without reason.
its really sad to see New Pvp’ers/ old dog veterans that have not Pvp’ed for nearly 2 years thinking they are still the bees knees with this mind set and really should just learn to suck it up .

I doubt it’s ever the case ‘’I did nothing wrong the whole game, but everyone was blaming me’’.

Really? You’ve never queued up with newbies that zerg 1 point at a time or spend 3/4’s of the game fighting off point and then get mad at you for capping a point instead of following them?
I’ve had plenty of games where you get 1 or 2 people like this but the match I was talking about was hands down the worst team I’ve ever had. It didn’t help that our comp was terrible, but that is no excuse for not focusing targets.

No, I actually never had a game when everyone would be blaming me for the outcome of the game. I rarely get blamed, but usually realize I could have done something better. All I’m saying is I don’t believe when people say they did everything right, but everyone on their team blamed them.

If this was a common experience then you’d be right. The only other times I’ve had players qq’ing in PvP is when I kill them. And it wasn’t the entire team, it was the 2 kittenty thieves that couldn’t manage to kill anyone or decap a point the entire game.
Of course thieves are always the first to cry when I kill them too, the majority of salty whispers I get in WvW is also from thieves, so seeing them try to pass the blame isn’t surprising.

Well, if you’re getting in these situations this much, you should probably think about it a bit more. Saying everyone who plays certain class is salty, blames others for their mistakes and cries just makes me feel like you really see things differently than how they happened.

It is common when you solo que and you’re paired with 4 team premade. They’ll refuse to blame themselves for the loss, so will target you instead. Between group mentality and that they all know each other, they’re going to fault the outsider, regardless whether it was their fault or not.
It’s probably what happened to him.

I get that, I’m not saying it doesn’t happen ever, but I can’t say I’ve had plenty of game like this.
I’ve been recently playing a ranger in hot joins so that I could do the Hunter achievement, and wow… I have been verbally abused every single day that I’ve been playing that ranger. I never received so much harassment on my warrior, engineer, or mesmer. It’ll happen at least once and up to five times per day that I’m doing spvp. I’ve had to report so many people over the past week. What I find interesting is that it is often coming from players who have the Legendary Champion title.
Where is all of this hate coming from? It’s making me really hate playing my ranger. I do not say anything nor do any emotes to provoke. All I want to do is play my ranger and not have to worry about someone calling me f****t (most popular word to use).

The “1 or 2 people like this” was referring to the players that run around fighting off point or zerging uncontested points.

No, I actually never had a game when everyone would be blaming me for the outcome of the game. I rarely get blamed, but usually realize I could have done something better. All I’m saying is I don’t believe when people say they did everything wrong, but everyone on their team blamed them.

I’ve had plenty of games where you get 1 or 2 people like this but the match I was talking about was hands down the worst team I’ve ever had.
This is what I was coming from.
Are you really going to try and cut 1 line out of my post to misrepresent what I said? Do you work for Fox news or something?
The “1 or 2 people like this” was referring to the players that run around fighting off point or zerging uncontested points.
Well, then I misunderstood, but man your attitude…You must be pleasant to be around.
I get really irritated with rangers in MY team, who refuse to get down from their perch and come help. I’ve had more than one situation where the ranger simply won’t assist with finishing off someone, and then it’ll be too late.
Please – an appeal to this current breed of rangers: Get your hands dirty a bit. Yes, long range support is much appreciated from a distance when that’s what’s necessary. But sometimes I just need another body ON POINT with me to assist with a finish, or maybe even to rez me.
GET DOWN from that ledge and do something other than stand and ping!
I doubt it’s ever the case ‘’I did nothing wrong the whole game, but everyone was blaming me’’.

Enjoy I guess. Assaulting everyone just because they misuderstood or play a class is definitely the way to go.
Also, it’s funny you exactly complain about this but do it yourself.

That’s because the typical power ranger will die to a sneeze and has zero condition removal. So ressing is not their strong point… Though they can stomp fairly well with LB 3, but that’s only if they’re not under pressure.

I don’t harass people in game. If I tell my team at the beginning of the match that I’ll grab home and I have 2 idiots follow me there I will tell them to please go mid, if they don’t I will leave the point to go mid myself. I’m not going to waste time in a PvP match arguing with people in chat.
If some jerk pops up on a forum talking about something he had no part of then I have no problem arguing. I had teammates that couldn’t 4v3, that right there is all the information you needed to know about the match. Somehow from that info you decided the players that couldn’t kill opponents they outnumber, while I kept 2-3 busy the rest of the match, must have been right. It was all my fault for not running back and probably turning it into a 5v5 for home that we would likely still have lost since my teammates kept dying so fast. At best we would slowly win it but whoever we killed first would have just taken back far and had us trip capped again.
What exactly would you have done in that situation?

What would I do if I knew my teammates wouldn’t be able to win a teamfight? Well, I would probably go help them if you ask me.
Nice calling me jerk just because I misunderstood something.
All I said is that if people blame you and there is more than one of them, you could probably consider if you couldn’t do something better. But obviously you’re too self absorbed to even think about that.
It really doesn’t matter what you play, every profession and build gets rage whispers if you can manage to be good with it. I’ve played so many different builds on all the professions, especially a lot of my own builds, and gotten rage messages in map chat, mail, or pms on all of them. Don’t let it get to you, some people just have anger management issues lol.
I always tell myself at least these people are taking it out in a video game and not by beating their wives or something like that though, am I right?
“What would I do if I knew my teammates wouldn’t be able to win a teamfight? Well, I would probably go help them if you ask me”
And what good would that have done? If they can’t win when they outnumber the opponents, won’t focus targets, what are the odds we would win 5v5? Even if we did that would have been it for the match. They hadn’t even managed to decap the point. If I left the 2 players alone that I was keeping busy 1 of them would have recapped far and the enemy would still have 2 points.
My best option was to keep the 2 players at mid tied up, kill anyone that tried for far(the one point we had), and hope my team could take home. If they did that we would have had them 2 capped and could have either held that or tried for mid.

3. RF vs a target not Defending himselfits easy walking up to a Melee user and people using “Exactly why people tend to hate on rangers.
You misunderstand, I don’t struggle fighting rangers. I play one in pvp every now and then so I know what to expect. I find the generic glass power ranger cheesy, that’s all. Also most of them stay on LB 24/7 even when they should revive/stomp/hold the point and go melee.
Hey OP,
1. Hotjoin is the perfect breeding ground for insults and verbal harassment regardless of class.
2. To make you feel better, I like rangers. I’d rather have 2 rangers on my team than 2 thieves or mesmers. I play a condi ranger and am very aggressive with capping/defending. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten any verbal harassment when on my ranger. I queue solo ranked tho.
3. When you graduate from hotjoin and queue solo in ranked/unranked, the ranger is one of the best classes to play.
I have noticed this as well, played tons of spvp on my ele, hardly any direct verbal assault. Made a ranger and played maybe 10 games total and 7 or 8 of those games I was insulted for using rapid fire which would basically instagib my target. Oh gee I wonder why they mad >.>
I don’t get too much hate, usually just the amusing “ranger gotta pew pew” or “wow press 1 to win..” and I just laugh.
In fact, a lot of things kill/counter me as a ranger:
- Medi-guards
- Other dps rangers when even 1 of my skills is on CD
- MM necro (too tanky, my arrows hit the minions instead aka not traited)
- GOOD D/D eles
- D/D thief if he’s lucky I don’t have ‘sic em’ equipped
- typical never dying warrior (same thing with guard)
- condi engi who knows their rotations
- lock down mesmer/inturrupt mesmer
But hate in general I think is when I come along to help out a team mate, pressing 2 and I watch someone’s health drop to 0 in half a second.
That or other zerker classes like me.. coz’ let’s face it – rapid fire, aa and LB ranger in general is brain dead ez to play and a lot of people hate it when struck by it.
Well getting trash talked / ostracized / frowned upon comes with the whole ranger package.
Pve wise rangers still get insta kicked uncomfortably often before even having the chance to say “spiritspotter”.
In wvwvw rangers aren’t accepted in closed raids, they take on the thankless role of sniping like a stray wolf exiled from his pack that can only follow the pack from afar and eat those few carrions that the pack doesn’t trample over.
In spvp rangers come last at the condition game, their niche is 1800 range pressure but then again 3 berserker classes out of 4 get access to one or more 1200 range teleport and guess what is the one berserker user without teleports ? You guess it, it’s ranger.
- D/D thief if he’s lucky I don’t have ‘sic em’ equipped.
What? You just press signet of stone and you’ve avoided their whole burst while giving you 6s of free cast time.
Svanir Appreciation Society [SAS]
Yeah, well, that explains why some of the legendary champions we run into in Ranked Arena are so horrible. That being said, I strongly recommend queuing Ranked Arena instead of Hot Join. Hot join is like the Cantina bar in Star Wars, if you know what I mean…
Illustrious Exhausted Primordial Legendary Druid, and Mesmer for fun
PvE | PvP (1500)| WvW | Fractals | Dungeons
Hot join is like the Cantina bar in Star Wars, if you know what I mean…
+1 for the laffs
- D/D thief if he’s lucky I don’t have ‘sic em’ equipped.
What? You just press signet of stone and you’ve avoided their whole burst while giving you 6s of free cast time.
Story of my poor thief’s life. Open up on the ranger, get’em down to 10% health, then my most powerful attacks do 0 damage. If I’m running dagger offhand, I’ve got to run around while getting shot at for 6 seconds :-(
Dont worry i was playing ranger dps every time someone was starting noob noskill u know and every time it was from players that die in 1 vs1, i deside to play necro the story is the same , i deside to play engin cele rifle the story is the same, now i play what ever i like and i dont hear anyone.
So play what ever makes u enjoy the game and not give a kitten .
Recent match and I sure hope it inspires the OP.
Queued solo. There’s no way this comp would work in the tournament tier but we did fine against a 3 man pre.
To be frank, we won because they had 2 thieves on their team. But unlike thieves, rangers are stackable.

One thing you mentioned was enough: Hotjoins. The common sense is below the Mohorovicic Discontinuity there. A few more months and it’ll fuse with the Earth’s core. You should expect nothing in hotjoins. coherent team play, honor, etc. It’s a good place to learn the mechanics of your pvp build, rotations, etc, but better to just keep the chat on combat maybe. There’s a lot more useful input on that page
prepare for the flood of tears tomorrow when you can use rapid fire twice within seconds if specced right XD
(changing weapons makes your next skill recharge 60% faster)
more likely because 99% of rangers are power…and 99% of power rangers are brain damaged
