Liane Frostfire – Elementalist [TWP] Ilona Frostfire – Mesmer [TWP]
Enya Frostfire – Mesmer [OMFG]
I stopped playing some time around the Dhuumfire patch. Used to play primarily S/D/F burst ele and shatter mes.
So far all the builds I have heard of are DPS/sustain/bunker and since that’s not a playstyle I enjoy, I thought I might ask here if there is something I missed.
The higher the skillfloor/cap the better.
Invo rev
Rev and thief. Guardian can also have great burst if you play around the trap test of faith properly though it has a low skill floor.
Thief for sure, to be effective you need to be really good, you need to have great map and momentum knowledge, great capacity to survive in fight and hitting at the right time.
In soloqueue many time depends on team composition and mates rotations, is not always effective for those reasons too.
D/P Thief, high skill cap-best results, (P/P power Thief can work too but is much easier than d/p and less effective), P/P condi Engineer: burst is just insane, and Guardian. Not sure about Revenant …
Ele and Mesmer are not “bursty” any more, you might have some success with Scepter condi mesmer build, but it can be countered with some professions who focus on condi cleansing …

Rev is the viable power build with greater burst potential. a staff 5 with legend/weaponswap with shiro heal followed by sword 2 can delete nearly everything without defensive buffs
Full glass d\d ele $_$

That combo doesn’t use Enchanted Daggers. Otherwise, you’re not getting a free Precision Strike or forcing your opponent to use a stun break (and possibly dodge roll).
Thief definitely has the highest skill floor. Rev has crazy burst too but its skillfloor is significantly lower. It just takes some time to learn how to manage energy. After that, it’s much easier. All other power burst professions have low/medium skill floors.
Thief definitely has the highest skill floor.
In my hands Elementalist has higher skill floor than Thief and i’m sure that majority will agree with me. Switching between four Attunements all the time, Jesus! … One mistake, one wrong attunement, and i’m downed lol. You have way too many buttons and combos … Engineer, if you play it with more than one kit can be difficult too. More buttons = higher skill floor.
Thief’s playstyle is challenging but enjoyable, while ele is frustrating + thief has one super easy weapon set: double pistols, if you really can’t stand on melee weapons.

Ele used to be high skillfloor back in the day, but IMO with the bunker/support builds these days you have a huge margin for error, at least that’s my experience so far.
I’m considering just ignoring the meta/patches and going with my old glass ele builds, but everybody seems to agree that glass ele is effectively crippling ones self.
Will definitely look into Thief. If that doesn’t do it for me I’ll probably just wait for a patch that favors my playstyle a little more to get back into the game.

Exactly what I said.
just use guardian.plenty of burst.
Ele can do wonderful things, but i tried glassy ele types … If you are not targetet much it´s great …. But one mistake or coordinated focus and Pooooof …. I usualy perish in seconds if i face a necro + something doing a boon corrupt + burst … It´s very challenging i learnd to avoid the first one or two tries to kill me XD …
I use scepter/focus ele and while i don´t play fresh air i know it can hit hard. If going glass ele i prefer viper which is a lot of fun .. Sometimes …
Agree that reve, thief and guard can do very good bursts. Power warrior hits dam hard too. I use warrior if i want to see big numbers :-). Currenty condi war is favored but i prefer power and twoshoting other glass builds happens ;-)

Rev and Thief mostly. Gs/Axe+Shield Warri works too. Longbow DH also does work with a more offensive Amulet (such as Marauder) but isn’t as bursty as it used to be.
Classic power shatter Mesmer is still very punishing, but requires a lot of finesse to pull it off.
