I’ve noticed that there are some players who get very very angry in PvP. If their team is doing bad, they shout in chat. If you kill someone, they private message spam you with words that I can’t repeat here.

I get that this is a competition, but is it really necessary to verbally attack me for killing someone? I think I’m doing good. I have Deer rank on my lv 40 Ranger, so I’ve been playing a lot. When I “F” spike a player, I show off my rank emote. Sometimes I bow to them for saying it was a good fight. Then I get messages yelling at me to 1 v 1, or put me down for killing them.

Does a lot of people here get the same things from enemy players?

The best way to counter this issue is to not give a f* about what a person says to you on the internet.

It’s the mentality you have to prepare yourself for when you get into any online competition, whether it be GW2 PvP, League of Legends matches, CS:GO tournaments and even Smash Bros. tournies. The best you can do is to block the people who do such things and report the ones who deserve it, and go on with your day.

I never show my rank emote finisher. It either a special or the the standard spike. When I started doing that I got a lot less hate whispers. No one knows if I’m noob or a veteran based on my finisher then. It is also helpful because I have an inconsistent play style so sometimes I do play like a noob and other times I rock the field so it keeps people guessing. Those could all be reasons or it could be that I just log on during times when vicious people who take a virtual game way to seriously are playing something else.

After a while you’ll just shrug it off, I guarantee this. Don’t let the kittenbags discourage you. Keep on fighting the good fight with honour and a bit of humour.

Lol, this guy has a good point. Although, I find that the llama finisher still gets a lot of hate, so I’ve been using my skritt one instead. (I think since it’s less flashy and noisy it’s less annoying to get spiked with)

If you’re spiking someone with a Deer finisher, they might think that you’re really a higher ranked player and you’re just doing that to troll though. I know a lot of veteran players put on their dolyak/rabbit finishers just to be trolls so it’s not your fault. If you don’t have any fancy christmas/halloween/gem store finishers then don’t feel like you have to change your finisher though. Just be aware that the problem is them and not you.

If that is what you label ‘Vicious’ I would recommend working on growing thicker skin. Or just troll back.

No one likes to be spammed from range especially when they are having a good duel on point.

True enough. Still, there is a difference between being annoyed and actually take the time to write something in map chat, which in the end does nothing good.

As they do in every game. GW2 is nothing at all compared to most others. Report them for verbal abuse followed by block.

Personally I find the team chat spammers worse though. The guys that goes “OMG THIS TEAM SUCK!” because you lost a 4v5 in the very first mid point clash (quite often with said zerker spammer dying within 2 seconds, enabling him to actually chat while tanks contest the cap for a minute after). For some reason, it never seem to occur to such players that the other team may actually by some miracle of planet alignment or something be better than your team.

Sometimes, when I’m tired and feeling mean, I make it my personal task to be utterly useless after someone says that. I urge others to do the same. You dont need the victory. Its a game, who cares. Daily sPvP can be done in a single match. You will get far greater satisfaction from seeing them loose, trust me.

the knowledge that some scrub is throthing at their computer because I was able to execute a ‘sick own’ on them is why I love these messages. feed off their rage and frustration, don’t let it bring you up. as long as you’re killing the people whispering you all it is is their own frustration at being such a scrub.

This is what alot of people forget,they’re all so..serious,lots of tryhards that can’t seem to enjoy themselves.

as far as topic goes:
if you killed someone and they talk crap to them, just ask them: if am that bad and i killed you, what does it make you?

+1ing a duel to down the enemy player is the whole point of LB Ranger. Just gonna have to deal with it.

In that case, I’m pretty sure I would lose mostly because these players are better than me, not because their build is cheesier or my team mates are bad. I play a Panic Strike d/p thief lately, with vamp runes. You don’t get any cheesier than that.

Oh and go ahead and 1v1 and beat them – cherry on top of the cake!

Ps. Don’t go saying you play a lot of pvp when you’re a mere deer rank. I’m dragon rank (via ranked and unranked only) but i would not say i play a lot since i play for 2-3 months, while some play since the beginning.

They rage and insult me, they i insult then, eventualy someone gets tired and blocks the other and we are both ready for some more sPvP fun!

It’s healthy! Just takes some get used to, perfect to blow off some steam, since when i started playing pvp games, this is a normal ocurrence (2004) and probably way before that was a normal thing.

Anyways, you’re asking for it. If you kill someone, good for you, there’s no reason to make a fuss about it, is there? Once you stop that, you will no longer need to cry on forums about people being mean to you.

So after you kill the player you show your rank emote or bow to them….. And you’re asking us why they send you hate messages, especially if it was a 2 v 1 fight…..
Only reason for doing something like that is to make them angery.

Have a Dragon, but its much more fun to run the bunny, especially against other Dragons. In your example though I don’t think its the finisher but sadly might instead might be the emote. I would try just spiking them and moving on and see if that gets you less tells. Some people will use emotes as that extra taunt after a win and yours might be being interpreted as that versus you saying gf. Might be better just to use /say and tell them good fight if that’s what you mean.

On a side note: have had the most positive tells when spiking with the Skritt finisher. Especially a lot of whispers back “SHINNIES!!!”. Good hunting!

Why do you care? Create a new chat window and turn off team and map chat. Playing as a PUG, most of the comments aren’t very helpful anyway.

It’s our family name, arabic for “carpenter” not what you think. he’s my brother so i’m fairly sure lol
