Voice Function for SPVP
also new players could learn quicker, when you talk, you ask more – when i write, only when i am dead/idle-defending and most of the time as short as possible
And this is one of the topics, bronce is quallified to know, because we (should) have the most new players.
For example, telling someone they wait at the wrong spawn-point of a beast, or telling them the middle buff in temple, and the capture all one… (had that, blinked on the map to that point – no time for writing, barely for clicking on the map, they for the 8:30 buff instead of the 11:30 -.-)
It would be great. But you have to accept that not everyone speaks english ;-).
And some people are talk lazy.
And some people are talk lazy.
Well I would be fine with that as long as they listen to me
This is such a good idea, I fully support it!
Of course there should be a possibility to mute/block people if they troll/insult or annoy in any way. This is easy to implement so the issue of people behaving poorly can’t be used as an excuse to deny this suggestion.
Furthermore I don’t see that “non-English-speakers” would be an issue, since they won’t understand written English as well.
I am certain that a voice communication would improve competitive gameplay (like counter strike e.g.).
Looking forward to see a devs response!
This would be great especially for me since if I try to type I have to stop what I’m doing and if I try to type while fighting it looks like this gjre9gh3u8gh3u gregreughrudfg46. Most of the time I don’t even bother trying to type, it’s too much of a hassle.
They should just add more sounds for when someone puts something on the mini map. There’s no sound for when someone draws an arrow or a number on home to indicate how many enemies are going there, for example. Also, anything that is placed should last a bit longer and any sound should be a bit louder too. It should be louder than any other sound because it must grab a player’s attention. And if a player can’t look at it within a few seconds, then it needs to last longer because of those situations. The mini map is the best way to communicate what’s going on, next to plain ol’ typing in chat, but as mentioned, not everyone speaks English. There’s also no sound for when someone types something in chat.
What I’m trying to say is, there should be more things that grab a player’s attention when it comes to chat and the mini map. Those are the places where you communicate, so there should be better ways to communicate. To summarize in my usual point form way:
- Mini map visuals should last longer
- Chat box should have sound options for when something is typed
- All chat box and mini map sounds should be louder than in combat sounds
Sounds like to me people want all these extra features implemented to simulate being part of a team.
- Class stacking
- Lack of communication
- Bad teammates
All issues that would not have to exist if we just had a 5v5 only Team Queue, which is insanely easier to implement than an in game voice chat, which opens up a whole new avenue of trolling. Why keep creating more and more problems in the game trying to make Solo Queue work, when Team Queue is the logical answer.
Furthermore I don’t see that “non-English-speakers” would be an issue, since they won’t understand written English as well.
I personnaly do understand written English but I don’t understand spoken English.
You want them to create a voice chat system when there are plenty of alternatives that perform very well?
To be raged at over voice? No thanks

This will never happen in GW2. The devs barely manage to implement tiny QoL stuff, something major like this is out of the question.

Spoken like someone who’s never played an actual competitive game. In-game voice is ubiquitous in online gaming – specially with competitive games. You know what they all come with? An option to mute or even disable.
I’ve stayed at this party entirely too long
To be raged at over voice? No thanks
There is a special upgrade for PC that targets this problem, once installed you don’t need to listen to those without quality feedback and info – the mute button
Hell no. I’ve got consistently bad teams (5 losses in a row, my team members dont know where to go, dont focus targeted enemies, fight outside of point, plain idiocy), and a voice system would only make all the salt and hate destroy everyone’s speakers. No.

Most competitive games have a voice function and not everyone has a team to play with. + the q times would me much higher

lol dude. I would guess my winnings from online games exceed yours by a factor of 100 at least.

The Queue times would be much higher is a horrible excuse. There has never, and I mean never, been a 5v5 only Team Queue. There has also never been any incentive from Anet (such as rewards) to even attempt to get people interested in Team Queue. Yes, Queue times would be higher than the current Solo Queue, but would provide better quality matches. Now how much higher queue times would be would depend on how anet implements Team Queue.
Also, this is gw2, not most other competitive games. Voice chat is made easily possible through 3rd party software, which you could easily organize on a team. Also, not everyone has a team to play with because not everyone has ever lifted a finger to even attempt to find a team to play with.

This thread doesn’t deal with voice communications in general. Its main target is to form a platform where randoms can voice-communicate without organising third party software.
For team queues you can certainly always use TS or Discord, but if you queue with randoms, you simply don’t have the time to get on teamspeak with them.
Most of the arguments “to be raged at voice” are poor in my opinion. First of all there are possibilities to mute, and if you are so scared about being raged, maybe consider that you actively have to active voice communication, so it is still everyones free will.
(By using that argument I could ask for removing team chat since there is so much salt there as well btw.)

I won’t deny that bad skills are an issue , for sure they are. However, maybe some people will focus targets more if called over voice. If they are so focused on using their skill rotation, they won’t be able to read the chat simultaneously.
Furthermore I don’t see that “non-English-speakers” would be an issue, since they won’t understand written English as well.

Well, you could consider this as a great chance becoming able to understand spoken English. However I am certain that you will understand “go close/mid/far” or “lets go lord”.

An in game voice system works for PUG solo queuing . The alternatives (discord/TS) generally only work for premades.
I still don’t know why ANET cant/doesnt do it. I was playing an MMO/PvP game on APPLE iOS platform that had Voice chat and that was over 3 years ago. It was great when I was solo queuing. Heck even great for premades.
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "
I’m new to pvp and so far I’ve read more harsh comments than tips on how to improve. Not sure how it would be to hear such harsh comments, or cursing…
Oh god i woud be banned in a matter of days if this would be implemented.
this can work in US but in EU it will be a chaos too many languages and too many people who thinks everybody knows her home language and refuses to speek another one, many times seen french, germans and some eastern ones talking a lot in his languages in team chat no matter no one knows it

It works in other games perfectly well, I don´t see why it shouldnt work in GW2. Most plebs in Europe have to learn English in school.

You have to learn maths too, does this mean everybody is good at maths ? No. And it’s the same for English.
I often was the first in my class in English, or at least, one of the first. And as I said, I don’t understand spoken English.
The level of English in my country is just very low because of the bad school teaching methods we have.
Would be cool, but I’d not use it. I have no interest in some squeaky voiced teen raging because he’s losing a match for the remainder of the match. Great for people who want to use it. but as with every game with built in VOIP that I play, it would ne mute city.
|Seasonic S12G 650W|Win10 Pro X64| Corsair Spec 03 Case|
I would even pay the kitten out of it to get VoIP ingame!!!
Games would be so much more fun!

Most of the ones calling you trash in comments dont have the guts to tell you that through mic. It has been like that in most games Ive played (Battlefields and CoD’s)
The good thing about it is that you can just mute if there is one troll/flamer.

Muting would be nice. You know, I’ve performed badly during a match and while most people were raging at me, one single person whispered me and gave me a lot of helpful advices. These strangers quickly become friends because they know some people aren’t as quick to adapt during a match, but can learn how to do so, just need time and a little patience.
Curse Voice does everything GW2 PvP/Voice needs. It works very well in games like Smite, LoL, Counter Strike… Curse Voice provides match auto-syncronization, personal mute, teammate mute, push to talk, “party” sync. Where are the Moderators?? Reply us..

Nope you just need this. The language auto translates via settings since the combo’s set in stone you just have to reskin from one language to another. Here I’ll add to examples, don’t let anyone tell you it can’t be done because it’s a super easy addition to any game.

and
Paragons voice system with the mouse instead of keyboard
That’s what actually PvP games that care about their PvP are doing. It’s completely doable and it makes Solo queuing way way more competitive then it is in GW2. You still will run into trolls but that a easy problem to solve in those games. Just get them on video trolling matches and Hi Rez will actually send you a In game thank you, and let you know that they have been banned or what not However over here in GW2 I’ve sends ANet videos of these players, sometimes even put them on my youtube channel and on these fourms. They are still running around trolling GW2 Ranked matches.
But at least I admit it!
PoF guys get ready for PvE joys

What a great idea! It would help so much…
Overwatch already does it.
But that is a true PVP game, unlike GW2.
All I really want is a question mark ping.
If they don’t wanna add a voice command thing at least make it yell into your speakers when you ping something like if you ping mid have it yell MID every time you ping it and so on. Anything’s better than nothing…no one pays attention when you ping or type, and typing’s too hard when you’re doing other things like fighting, healing etc.
