Will Pro Teams Feed Forever on Ambers?
Everything I’ve seen points to matchmaking still being entirely determined based on MMR, not league position. League position is essentially meaningless, just a number based on amount of games played x percent of games won.
Essentially, it appears that Arenanet is using leagues as a way to pretend that the game has prestige while still hiding personal MMR, after years of people requesting an actually skill-based leaderboard/league/ladder system.
So, then, it’s a yes. They will eventually be matched with whomever is in the Q at the moment, regardless of MMR, and league rank. Preference will be be to first create close matches, but as before, in a small Q population the matcher eventually gives up and just throws the lambs to the lions.

If your MMR is at Pro League level, then you will probably end up being matched vs pro league teams. Leagues seem to be a non-factor in match making, although its hard to tell so far.

Assuming there are enough in the Q at the moment.
Yeah, I mean I just got an INSTANT queue pop into a full premade that had a dc and my team couldn’t win a 5v4 because they kept dying to bunker mesmers 1v1.
I suspect when they did the Powerpoint slide show of this planned league implementation, someone may likely have asked: “But how do we get enough people to regularly play for the matching required”?
And the answer likely was, “It is our hope that people will be really excited about the pips and the rewards and a LOT more people will play regularly.”
Let’s see how the Qs look after 14 days when a lot of tired people have lost very hard-won pips to pro teams farming on Twitch.
It’s embarassing that after 2 test seasons and 3 years of experience that this terrible system is the best that Anet can come up with. Every game I play in it as a solo player makes me want to play less and less.
I’m quite frustrated about this, for now i’ll avoid doing solo Q. I’ll only going to PvP when my friends are conected.
