WTS Final in Boston: The Chinese Team
That’s sad to here that things went down that way. Thanks for the links to the vods though. This will be interesting to see.
Thanks for the info, belewyn. It is sad China isn’t even able to send out their best GW2 talent to the biggest GW2 tournament.
I used to run the Academy Gaming tournaments for GW2.
Let’s not judge them right now, it might be a sad final but let’s not forget at PAX the EU runners up went and won.

That’s sort of misrepresenting the facts.
It could be argued that CC should have been listed as the winners since they won 2-0 and the rules LITERALLY said best of 3 for final match.
If you want to get specific then TP was DQ’d before they even entered since they knowingly violated the rules with participants. Although ill admit that while situation was unfortunate, especially since Xeph got the ‘clear’ to participate prior to the tournament only to find out that no exceptions would be made for him.
That being said, any times the CN teams come to practice on NA they get trashed. Also, I have an account on telecom district II in China and nothing has changed.
Heck, they still don’t even have a leaderboard….

Oh nice they -finally- added one.
Although to suggest that they could be competitive is a huge misconception unless they actually have competition at the EU/NA level consistently. Otherwise it will take far too long for their scene to develop and they’ll always be 5 steps behind.

Yo thanks for the information! China has always been an unknown and its interesting to see how Chinese teams are going through same issues other regions have gone through.
The PvP scene in China is also very small. The competitive one is even smaller. KongZhong offered 64 slots for the WTS qualifiers. Significantly less than 50% were used.

That makes perfect sense: farm gold on Chinese servers which are completely independent of the NA/EU servers (which actually are connected).
I realize you’re being facetious but I thought I’d point out the misconception.
That being said China also has an anti-gaming addiction law which literally prohibits anyone under the age of 18 from playing more than 3 hours per day.

Ok so maybe they are selling it to rich Chinese kids then. You know, since the kids can’t farm enough of their own gold due to 3 hr limit.

Although I must admit I do LOVE their VIP system. Almost everyone over there does it and I wish they’d do it over here since I actually really enjoyed the benefits. While some people would scream and whine “PAY TO PLAY” it really isn’t and the benefits are just conveniences and really don’t give you (much) of an edge over other people.
