Can people admit the stat combo is a problem yet? Barring the mandatory thief on both teams, abjured took WTS final with 3/4 cele and a 1 engie that usually plays cele but swapped sets just for the matchups.

The set’s stat budget is 3 tiers above ascended. Is it any wonder that any class that can bring versatile scaling does so and stacks cele until it has no other viable build? Fix the kitten thing already.

i disagree from the stand point that the matches were so close and they did come from the losers bracket to win.(which in itself is a weird thing)

Anyone who played completely in sports can understand this. The ORNG kind of got screwed from the stand point that after beating the abjured and TCG they had to sit for a couple of hours watching these guys.

Also the tcg came so close to beating the abjured that your point has some merit but falls flat from the stand point that there are other comps/usable builds that arent cele. If this were like any real playoff there is not comeback for the abjured and then what would you say?

Can certain people learn that the Celestial combo isn’t the problem and that it’s a few specific builds which are just too good? Chaith (Five Guage) hasn’t played Celestial since the patch (he’s been Marauder or Soldier). Only d/d and staff eles and condi signet necro can get away with using celestial. These are builds which have lots of conditions and also might stacking to offset the low power on celestial amulet.

If ANet would allow more stat customization, you’d see a lot more variety, though these specific builds would still be too powerful.

Mesmer doesn’t use Cele.
Thief doesn’t use Cele.
Engi doesn’t use Cele.
Warrior doesn’t use Cele.
Ranger doesn’t use Cele.
Guardian doesn’t use Cele.
Only one Necro uses Cele.

But then the problem lies in Cele and not the Ele? What kind of formula you are using to calculate this?

I find these tournaments are much more about the rotations than anything else. Not that the builds aren’t important, but they are mostly chosen in regards to being able to bunker on a capture point, buff allies on a point, or spike someone off it.

The combat system can’t be balanced around that.

OP, since you think chaith runs cele engi normally these days, I dare you to try running a cele engi build in pop, and maybe once you realize how impossible it is to survive as a cele engi, you’ll come back and realize the amulet is perfectly fine.

While it’s true that the winner is ultimately determined by rotations and pairing the correct players for the situation, some builds make that a lot easier. When an cele d/d ele can fill almost any role, you have a lot more freedom with rotations.

Bunker is cool and all but when you can holdoff 3-4 good players AND dish out damage on your own for MINUTES at a time … you know it’s broken AF

I see 2 issues with what OP descibed: Ele-stacking and mandatory thief. No class should be mandatory (somehow people are ok with that, I am not), and you should have less synergy if you stack classes compared to if you didn’t – but that is not the situation. Doesn’t this more or less say it all?

oRNG beat them the first few times because of Warrior and Guard combo. Rom was just getting carried by Tage res and support, he literally got away with spamming 1 on Rampage with the set where they put Abjured on the lower bracket.

Sure double Ele is stupidly strong but Abjured CANNOT afford to fight the Warrior + Guardian combo. They have lost the first set because they chose to fight Rom and Tage together. Honestly, Warrior is stupidly strong and it doesn’t matter how bad you are if you have a strong Bunker Guardian like Tage giving you shouts to carry you.

More importantly, here’s what happened to the next 2 sets with oRNG and Abjured:

Pay attention to what Chaith said btw, “we started doing our own thing” after the TCG game meaning they did a 3 point push and applied that vs. oRNG. This is what oRNG did wrong, they CANNOT afford to do 3 points and should only do 2 points and KEEP THOSE TWO POINTS because if their forces (namely the Warrior + Guard) are separated they CANNOT win.

It is a team mistake on oRNG’s part to play Abjured’s game which is 3 points because now ROM can’t do anything if they separate Tage from him and ROM just got destroyed so much when he separated from Tage. A team fight comp like oRNG can only afford to do 2 points and make sure they win team fights.

TL;DR The fact that Tage had to be with ROM really bit them hard.

P.S It’s not about Warrior being unviable either. It is a mechanical issue in a sense because you need it A LOT on Warrior, something that ROM kinda didn’t have. You see him missing Earth Shakers a lot, not using signet to protect from blind for when it counts when he has Tage sustain anyways, losing track of dodge count, etc.

d/d ele is a build with all pros and no cons. it’s no surprise stacking them is effective.

my proposal, which is albeit a tentative one is this: increase the number of might you can stack to 50, but half it’s value. adjust only some might stacking skills (empower etc) while leaving many as they are know.

furthermore ele is unstompable on the first attempt.

d/d ele does great hybrid damage, great team support, is very mobile, is hard to take down, and can’t be stomped on the first attempt. yeah, that seems OP.

I love the logic of this community: “A team of great players won a tournament with X builds, barely beating a team with very different builds…..X is mega-OP”

Clearly, the performance of the players has nothing to do with the outcome…

Orng rotating badly and d/d ele being OP are not mutually exclusive.

Its a problem but not in the context of WTS. If they don’t adapt or just get outplayed then that’s their fault not cele ele. Its not like they don’t know how strong it is.

The point is that it is MORE telling when the only teams that win all have nearly uniform comps. The fact that there was some decent variety in comps indicates things aren’t necessarily as skewed as people say.

I will admit that I think d/d cele ele needs some adjustment, but acting like having a bunch of celes is the reason for the end result is just silly. In fact, oRNG took the first set against the abjured’s cele bruiser comp. Funny how people don’t conclude from that result: “Cele is UP, double guardian wins again!” Of course that conclusion is just as silly.
