[Team] Best WvW guild of all time. EASILY.
So me and my friends come back to try how bad the game is after about 18 months away and you haven’t decayed our mmr so we just get trashed every game because the game thinks we are as good as we were 18 months ago. When clearly this is not true as I don’t know my skills, my opponents skills, have no twitch reactions for the game and have no idea what a good build is.
And yet the game is matching me in games where me and my friends are clearly just going to be trashed.
No wonder nobody plays this game. Seen as nobody can ever come back to it because of this.
Won’t ever change I know, just thought I’d let people know one of the many reasons this game is dead.
Not surprisingly we won’t be sticking around.

Other games have actual systems which replicate it. Apparently this game does not.
Some games use mmr even rocket league uses it… and even at the end of each season everything gets reseted players need to play to get their rank back..
Rocket league pvp ranking system is actually very good.

Actually that game and its leadder is very player skill based , i dont like that(im very unskilled there lol….) game but with a very simple game they did it right, they even had to improve and extend the leadder system.

Interesting, I don’t actually play the game myself, but from what I gather they are very often outmatched. Stuff like they were being matched with veterans and elites/semipros when they were just a few days into the game (or something like that, I don’t know the classifications).
Back on topic. The MMR situation in GW2 is not great at the moment, but they have said that they are working to improve that. I believe that the first round of improvements will go live with S5, an then the majority of them will go live when the next year of ascension starts.

You shouldn’t have to be destroyed in matches repeatedly to get to where you belong though, and I think that is what OP has a problem with. Ideally you should have one or two bad matches max before you are matched with players closer to your skill level. Of course this isn’t exactly feasible for a variety of reasons, but that number should be kept as low as possible.

Agreed, but I don’t have time to do this. A league system solves this but unfortunately their league system never seems to be in operation. So yeh, its terrible.
Anet has a volatility attached to your mmr that increases when you don’t play. This is the standard for pretty much every game, overwatch included.
Losing should decrease your mmr quickly.
