Warrior Mobility Issues
As long the community think warrior is fine (in PvE is) A-Net don´t change anything. A highskill War can be beaten by a RANDOM Ranger, Ele, Mesmer, Thief with pistol or shortbow, Engi, Necro and Guard … Do you seen? Yes, you´ll punished by every class. You only need “stealth, range, teleport and aoe”. Nah, not the entire assortment ,one of those skills just fine.
It would be great if warrior movement abilities were immune to snare/chill (say on Mobile Strikes for example), or if they had some sort of constant removal of those similar to the trait that removes them on heal. These changes would have minimal impact on PvE, but dramatically improve sPvP.
Have you ever seen someone eviscerate while chilled?
Another solution would just be to simply nerf mobility across the board for everyone else, except for the poor necromancers and engineers, but that’s a bit less likely. ^^
I think a big problem warriors have currently, other than the obvious, is that any fix they do will be required in any build. This is the problem warriors have, they can have a lot of tools, but they can only have one build that gets enough of those tools in any meaningful amount. There’s a reason why builds like axe/mace aren’t as popular, and there’s a reason most 100B builds take Mobile Strikes.
And on another note, they need to make longbow and rifle less hybrid weapons. Just make longbow flat out a pure condi/aoe weapon and rifle a flat single target power weapon. It would go leaps and bounds to improve those weapons for sPvP. Why would they have something like the direct damage AoE 3 on the longbow, but then give it a large AoE burning for the adrenaline ability? Makes no sense. And frankly, I’m disappointed they removed that sniper aspect from the rifle like it was in beta. 5000 range killshots on the clocktower roof were literally the most fun I’ve ever had on a warrior.

Warrior’s other weapons need to buffed to the level of the greatsword. Now people are using 1-handed sword mostly just for for sword #2, mobility. This is a clear message for the developers: mobility is more important than they thought. Superior mobility usually wins in pvp and WvWvW, even if the damage or the armor would be slighty weaker. Doing skill balancing by hitting the test dummies in Heart of Mists is not enough.
An easy way to buff the least used weapons: decrease the cooldown and maybe slightly buff the effect (e.g. slightly more damage). Warrior’s needs more ways to remove conditions as currently Crowd Control owns warriors. Most people never use the healing signet’s active effect as it heals so little, 3320 points at level 80. If healing signet would also remove a condition, it would still not be overpowered. These minor changes would not make warrior too overpowered in pve, but offer more versatility into the builds.
Some warrior traits should be reworked. Currently the traits greatly favor spear and greatsword:
e.g. forceful greatsword gives might on crit hit using GS or spear, plus 20% faster skill recharge = too good to be true and reason #1 for warrior’s selecting GS
Slashing power and dual wielding are both master level strength traits. The first gives 10% damage increase for greatsword and spear, while the latter gives 5% damage increase when wielding offhand axe, mace or sword. They both should give 10% increase.
Last stand major trait is not that useful, because it activates balanced stance after the player has been subject to dazed, knocked down, stunned etc.
A list could go on, but I doubt Anet developers are reading these forums.
I have been doing quite a lot of solo roaming with my warrior in WvWvW in euro tier #1. It works so and so. There is no room for error. The smallest error on your side and you are dead as warrior lacks tools of disengagement. Similar type of roaming would be 10 times easier with a thief or dual dagger elementalist, due superior mobility.
5000 range kill shots are a bad idea. Kill shot is already powerful enough. Warrior is almost okay. Just that the least used weapons and utility skills would need some love, at least reduction of the cooldowns. And warrior really sorely needs ways to get out of the combat when things go wrong.
How is kill shot powerful enough? It has something like a 2s activation time and only hits as hard as an eviscerate. Maybe it’s dumb in WvWvW because of the massive stat inflation, but they don’t balance PvP around WvWvW.
Some people have used 1h sword for mobility forever, its just taken some people a bit longer to catch on.

Whatever the weapon you choose for mobility doesn’t change the fact that this mobility is affected by snares, and practically makes you a free kill to any half decent player using AOE snares.
This fits hand in hand with the main issue of condi removal that warriors face.
The fact that 90% of their bajillion weapon combinations are kittenty doesn’t help either.

The problem is that I most often have a condition removal available to remove a snare but it’s pointless if the snare is ground AOE because if I remove it, it gets immediately reapplied. Removing an auto-applied condition should provide some short term immunity against the same exact condition being reapplied. By auto-applied I mean something like ground AOE which doesn’t cost the opponent a button pressed ability to reapply it. Or even better, if you cleanse a condition from an AOE effect you can’t be affected by this same AOE instance since you chose to spend one of your abilities to counter it. The opponent would then have to drop a new AOE instance to re-affect you.
You know what. The only thing you can get from forums is an advice from other players or some statistics and theory crafting. I mean , yes, that is what forums are for, players help each other and so on. So why so many people think that if they will post their opinion or suggestion about any particular thing, it will be noticed by developers? It’s an illusion. Developers have their own statistics that show them the information that they need in order to do their job, make money for company. Apparently, much more people play PvE than PvP, so they try to focus on PvE because that’s what brings money to the company, satisfying players that make money for the company. sPvP’rs don’t spend gold by doing spvp, they don’t buy stuff to do spvp, their actions in game (spvp) doesn’t make any profit for company that released the game. They definitely would focus on pvp more if major part of gw2 players would play pvp instead of pve.
Many people may put them self in a state of cognitive dissonance, by expecting some positive changes (in pvp mostly) like balanced pvp combat or some other pvp maps with different objectives.

Forums are good feedback. Numbers don’t tell the whole picture. Without feedback, devs cannot know why x or y profession has lower representation. It might be because it lacks damage or maybe it lack survivability? No way to know the real problems without user feedback and I find that the devs have made several changes based on feedback from forums, so I guess they listen to the community to some extent, even if not to the extent that we would hope.
ANET simply does not know how to balance this class just to deal with anti-fun BS such as not addressing the million “I messed up” buttons, evade frames, sustain, chills and corrupt boon.
This game is probably going to take around 1 1/2 years to improve just like LoL did.

On a serious note ride the lightning should remove immobilize without a trait.

The logical thing to make warrior balanced from my point of view would be to rework the tactics minor traits.
This is the current:
Adept- Determined Revival - Gain 5 extra toughness per level while reviving.
Master – Fast Healer – Increases revive speed by 10%.
Grandmaster - Reviver’s Might – Grant might to nearby allies when you revive someone.
These are useless in wvw and pve pretty much and obviously some of the worst minor traits in the game for pvp.
I would recommend the following changes:
Adept – Shrug it off – Use shake it off automatically when you have more than 1 conditions – this can only trigger every 20 seconds.
Master – Fast healer (the same)
Grandmaster – Gain protection for 6 seconds when health reaches 50% (60 sec cd)

First of all, I wasn’t arguing that warriors lack mobility abilities. I was arguing that warriors are way too weak against AOE snares and the fact that this affects the range of all their mobility abilities.
Second, I don’t play glass. I run with 30 points in defense line traits while the rest of my stats are for offense so I’d consider my current build balanced. I’ve tried many other builds based on better survivability but I always come to the same conclusion: the best defense for a warrior is being able to catch your opponent in a lucky burst combo, otherwise you just don’t have many tools to compete against what other professions have. Half the professions out there will easily kite and condition damage you to death while the other half will outheal your damage all day long so you must build offensive enough to burst 75%+ of their life in one HB + eviscerate combo at just the right time.

Well well. Let’s buff warriors and ops its freaking op and everyone has 1 in their team.
Im not saying that warrior doesn’t need any changes but you can atleast manage to one with proper with teamplay. If you can’t achieve that in hotjoin not my problem.
What warrior currently gives: Highest DMG in game. Not burst DMG. Still can burst really hard.
What warrior lacks? Well it can be kited easily. If it gets stuck in bad position with lots of condies you’re basically finished. etc…
Ok so warrior has really good dmg.. hmm… ok so if it sucks on these and that. Maybe if I have this guy on my team simply playing like a kittening paladin from good old wow spamming dispel. Maybe it can outcome the issues hmm hmm…. Oh snap hey lets have bunker ele spamming heals and cleanses on top of warrior yay! Warrior survivability goes up few notches.
The problem is that if you balance everything to 1v1 this game gonna have some serious fakken problems at high lvl tpvp.
Shaolin I can understand a reason why you want to run 30 in defense and have a balanced build that runs fine alone. But what you’re trying to achieve here is phantasm mesmer(EXAMPLE). God in 1v1 kitten in teamfight. You can’t have them all. If you lack something you need to work it around your team composition or communication fak I kno. I should be getting paid for giving these lessons or hired by anet as a game tester/balancer.
I shouldn’t have to have an Ele just so I can deal with other Eles and Necros with Foot In The Grave and Reaper’s protection.
8 characters and META is already set in stone. Weak balancing is weak.
How many warriors killed you during the BWEs Purie? Warriors need buffs. Thinking that they’re fine is absolutely delusional.
Warrior isnt that bad. But its still the worst class. The 100b build is pretty good and fairly viable even at high levels. The problem is there really arent any other builds around. I know there was a few hammer dudes on this new map and a few longbow dudes lurking around on the more traditional conquest maps but still they could do with more fundamental changes than weapon changes. They could do with buffing or changing warrior traits. Shrug it off seems a logical trait which could see a serious buff imo.

I always cringe a bit when I read the words “Warrior” and “lacking mobility” in the same sentence. I agree, however, that probably not all dash-like movement skills should be cut in half by snares, because it can shut down the mobility of certain builds and professions pretty hard. Ironically, many of the movement skills affected by snares are supposed to be escape skills (like the Staff Elementalist’s Fire attunement #4, which is the only weapon based escape skill Staff Eles have).

And besides even if they dodge or u miss a whole frenzy/100b/whirlwind then you still have alot of damage with just the attacks and you can immobialise on both the axe/shield and the greatsword with leg specialist.

And then they apply a single cripple on you and backpedal away.
Imo it only feels terrible against trap rangers, bunker specs are no fun too but its really the rangers that make being a warrior miserable.

No, other professions can put more pressure on the warrior than the warrior can put on them. Other professions can easily save their mitigation and escapes for when the warrior decides to burst. The warrior is forced into making the first move most of the time. You say warrior deals a lot of damage which is only half correct since the damage is only dealt when in melee range, but over the course of a fight a warrior is not in melee range long enough for his total damage over the fight to qualify as high.

All classes should have access to a balanced build. Warriors are NOT in a good spot right now. They’re pigeon-holed into frenzy-hundred blades with different off-hands and slightly different builds.
And your lessons aren’t exactly helpful, nor are they witty. As a matter of fact they make you look pretty darn dumb
I 100-0 warriors on my engi and cringe. And some classes do have it all. I can 1v1 anything on my engi and win and I carry in team fights. Thieves, eles, mesmers and even rangers are all able to do the same. You can’t expect to be solely a team fighter in this game and win just as you can’t always expect to 1v1.

Besides that warrior has the best mobility in game in the long run if you use GS, S/W. Don’t think the problem lies in mobility but more in healing/condition removal in general.

But how would you deal with the fact that the AOE snare will be reapplied immediately after cleansing it? And it’s not even much of an option to just avoid it since you need to be in melee range to do your damage, the longer you delay your offense the longer you get demolished by range attacks.
I would really like to see warriors get some love, but it’s something that anet has to be careful with. Imagine an unccable glass cannon warrior coming after you. That’d be about the scariest thing in the game. They need something, but too much and it’ll be a disaster.
It’d be really cool if bunker warrior ever became really viable. I tried playing it for a while, and I liked the general feel of the build, but the lack of heals and damage avoidance just made it so hugely inferior to every other bunker.

One thing people here dont seem to understand, more than anything Warriors rely on good team support and when they get it they can kill the entire enemy team within seconds. You wanna be the hotjoin king play a build that is made for this crap, there are actually some even without GS 100B. Making Warriors work is hard. Period. If you are frustrated with Warrior reroll to something even my dead grandmother can play like tripple Cantrips ele.

I guess from your post that warrior should not be playable. It would probably fit better as some other profession’s pet since it can’t do anything on its own. And is your solution really to roll something else? Let’s get the warrior fixed, not abandon it. Even if warrior got buffed near being OP, it really can’t be as bad as all the months we’ve been enduring mesmers and thieves. I doubt it’s even possible to buff the warrior beyond what some thief and mesmer builds can do right now.
Warriors CAN work well in high end tPvP.
But for that to be achieved we have to be coddling like little children and cared for all along the way.
Teams view that as a liability, having to hold a Warriors hand throughout a game. That’s why they don’t use Warriors as much – to many downsides to it’s very few upsides.
Honestly Defektive, I think all classes should be like warriors. We might actually get a lot more coordination and teamwork. Bring someone to deliver the burst, bring someone to set up the burst, bring someone to support the burst, etc. No one should do all three.
i actually love it when i get snared before using GS 3, it hits on every attack
