In World of Warcraft….pauses for laughter to end…..I played a Paladin…because paladins had a lot of survivability and could do “almost” as much damage as a warrior. I thought that in guild wars 2 this would be the same situation with the guardian….you do a little less damage but have way more survivability. However….I’ve been told that warriors in this game do WAY more damage than Guardians…like the damage is not even close at 80. I’m willing to play a guardian if I sacrifice a little damage….but if I’m sacrificing A LOT of damage then I’d rather play the warrior.
Oh by the way all I care about is 1v1 PvP….or solo PvP

if you do a burning dps guardian the damage is pretty good. its not as bursty as a warrior can get with frenzy, but its pretty strong 1 v 1.
overall guardian is a better class in terms of versatility and tourney viability. warrior is great to stomp on noobs, but there is a steeper drop-off vs high end play.
I disagree with the notion that a Paladin is somehow more viable than a Warrior in tournament PvP. I do agree that the top-end burst is higher as a Warrior (as that is a statement of fact), but the expected damage throughput is likely the same. The way a Warrior achieves this burst is easy to counter play. It is likely both classes, against sufficiently skilled foes, will output similar damage.
Damage is kinda the same but the warrior one is incredible bursty. However, Guardians have tons of utility, while being pretty tanky.
For solo PvP and 1v1 take guardian, the Warrior class only really shines in a good team with tons of distraction.

Guardians have better sustained but I’ve been ripped apart by some Guardians now and then wondering where exactly the damage came from.
Sword/Shield and GS setups can put out some surprising pain and offer good defense too.

Go play Quake or whatever the kids are doing these days.
retaliation skills/traits for guardian>warrior by definition
