I know RR is a thing and it’s decent, pretty much anything is an improvement over warrior’s competitive state since the rampage nerf last year. AH is decent, my issue is that warrior/berserker brings nothing to the team besides…. well, dps.

You could argue that is enough, but even with this popular RR build I don’t see it offering anything to the team. Thief is purely dps too, but it also has excellent mobility, DH is also dps, but with traps and virtues it’s also doing some cc while providing minor buffs on the side in addition to the damage.

Warrior has decent damage, but with mediocre mobility, mostly single target stuns, relying on an enemy to stun you most of the time in order to have “good” sustain from RR which also means not clicking skills offensively most of the time but instead using them for defense, I can’t think of anything condi zerker does that chrono doesn’t do better. This isn’t to slam on chronos, I play one and I love it, but what exactly does a warrior/berserker do differently/bring new to the table? The mechanics of the popular build seems mostly selfish

What the hell are you on about? Doesn’t bring anything to the team? Well of course it doesn’t if you don’t play it like that.

There are a lot of selfish classes out there and a lot of selfish builds, that’s doesn’t mean anything. Your comparisons with thief and dh are way off too. The absolutely only thing that thief does better than warr(and any class at that matter) is mobility – it has less sustain, less CC, less dps and less team utility. DH has way less CC and sustian than a war has, and after the nerf bat, it’s even more useless outside of teamfights.

Want to bring something to the team? Play this build.

It can be tweaked for more damage, less cleanse, depending on the enemy comp.

You cleanse 12 condis from your allies. Not even ele does that. It’s madness. While doing about 1560 heal per shout. That’s roughly 6200 heal to all allies. Not to mention the added bonus of fury, might, fear and endurance from the actual shout effects. Plus two of them are pretty spamable. And with the amount of healing, cleanse and regen you have, you’ll outlast most teamfights. It’s actually a challenge to die with this build.

Sure, you might say the build does kittenty damage, but it’s far from kittenty. You can stack up some nice burning and with a well timed fear and headbutt, those ticks are there to stay. And when you’re opponent is low and vulnerable, sigil of intelligence lets you get that sweet big crit with a well timed final thrust.

I know it’s fun to say war sucks. But they’ll keep buffing him until we have a new necro. And then we’ll get another round of QQ and nerfs. Not saying war is 100% fine, but he’s way better than last season.

Depending on the build…warrior can have excellent aoe condis, great direct damage, can stunlock an opponet without help from allies, can heal, can bunker…it might not be the absolute best at any but if played by a competent person it can be extremely dangerous. Warriors are also one of the best classes against the overpowered condi mesmer, and warrior excells at not being locked down and interupting hard hitting skills, and heals

Edit: most people play fairly selfish but if you call a target then stunlock them they die…and kills are a great team support if it causes a rally

Shoutbow is not the best build available to warriors are the moment.

talking about pvp, the berserker is in a pretty good state now. u cant compare him or any other class to chronomancer, i dont think i need to mention why that is. but the berserker finally works very good competitive.

Eh…it’s really just mediocre, leaning towards the weak side.

I think the class is on the right path in terms of having a solid role and identity. It’s a high DPS, high CC potential profession that’s on its way to filling the spot it had back in the Hambow days.

However, there’s still some elements that are keeping warrior in the low mediocre area:

  • There’s still a pretty high tradeoff on dps to be able to bring many stuns/knockbacks and many builds end up being too low on CC to be more than a basic damage dealer or too high on CC to be able to help get a kill on a CCed target.
  • Mobility is really weak on condi builds.
  • Power builds are a bit too low on damage.
  • Mesmers and Revenants are still so OP, they make everything else terrible in comparison.

Eh…it’s really just mediocre, leaning towards the weak side.

I think the class is on the right path in terms of having a solid role and identity. It’s a high DPS, high CC potential profession that’s on its way to filling the spot it had back in the Hambow days.

However, there’s still some elements that are keeping warrior in the low mediocre area:

I am scared to think about condi war with high mobility. Really all that needs to be done is nerf to chrono and herald/shiro/sword revs.

yes you could say warrior doesnt bring anything to team if you are talking about healing/boons/condition removal. However, it can really do a ton of DPS and the ability to quickly drop an enemy is of significant value.

The Sword/Torch Mace/Shield build can really pump out a lot of hybrid damage. Against Revs it does really well if you can dodge/block their initial burst especially since Revs have poor condi clear.
