We have to care 'bout the LB now ?
I used to be a big believer in leaderboards rewarding grinders.
However, that has lead to no competition in team queue as people don’t care about the leaderboards at all.
So I think they need to rework the leaderboards so it is more MMR based. Or at least bump up the point loss for losing a game.

I play off hours solo q so i still get to many pug vs premade compared to a primetime player. So stoppped caring about the lb’s and just play for fights makes the game a hell of a lot more fun for me.
I personally think you should always get dinged at least 1 point for a loss regardless of win probability. Otherwise I don’t know how the top of the leaderboard won’t always be mostly determined by who plays the most matches. Either that or we have to limit the games played per week that count toward LB.

I think LB standing it should be based on win ratio (%), but should require minimum 100 games played in season.

brannigan,
That seems unfair, though. You make people play in the wrong “bracket” and then penalize them for not winning against higher-bracket players.
The entire fixation with win/loss record assumes a player on a losing team must be a poorly skilled player.
The LB is basically ranking people who tend to score “above their bracket” more often…but the LB does not show these “virtual brackets”.

without a healing class this game does not make people group up as other games. A lot of people solo Q . When you solo Q, a lot is out of your control. To be honest I fell I play better solo Q compared to be in a premade. When you are solo you feel like you can’t make mistakes, the whole match depend on you play as good as you can. Where in a premade you can screw up here and there knowing your team-mates will pick up the slack. My solo win rate is barely 50% last season and my gp win rate is about 80%. I really don’t think the gp Q me should rank higher than the solo Q me. But then again no one cares about LB
One possible solution could be to put in a game per day limit . Something like the first 6 games you play every day count toward LB and the rest don’t matter.

Please don’t tell me your attempting to blame matchmaking on not having the holy trinity…..

Did you tweaked something ? Because I see 6ppl in the top 25 lb with more lose than win, and when I see the first Guy with 80 points (80w/40l), I wonder if losing games matter now since I get only 1pts per win with 0lose
Can’t we reach the top without being able to spam games all the day ?
We’re in an off season, there have been no rule changes, and there will be no rewards. I suggest you only follow the leaderboard as a way of gauging your personal progress.
We may also change the off-season rules at any time to experiment with scoring changes ahead of the next test season.

Another Test Season?
I hope you can follow community suggestions to fix many issues we have now and we had in the last season
And I hope in a League Test Season :P

Your leader board is ridiculous and undermines any form of competitive plays. It’s a farm board, where loses means kitten even. Take a look at my current rank. Only guy in the top with a win % at 88. My wins are far more superior than any current player on the leaderboard, and my loses are very few, meaning that my rank points shouldn’t have been deducted in any way. People with the same wins and a shocking multiplication of 5 times in losses, have, for some ridiculous reason, more points than I do. I have even experienced people getting points for their loses on the leaderboard. It’s a joke. Not feeling a need to be rude, I just think that is inevitable.

You’re certainly entitled to your opinion, and we are aware of this criticism.
We’re currently simulating various rule changes by replaying data from the test season, so if you have any ideas on how to improve things please feel free to share them.
We’ll also be creating a postmortem thread for the test season soon, but we’ve been really busy and haven’t had time to prepare for it yet.

Unfortunately, people who participate more, are going to earn more points. If you’re inactive for three days, you’re going to miss points. There is no catering for casuals who play only 3 games a day, or 1 game every three days.
For a season thats on 24/7, I want a rank booster of some sort for not participated for X amount of time.

Thx Justin, so basically there’s gonna be a reset again ?

Both suggestions being along the same lines as each other, you could create an “off hours” buff or exceptions etc, as well as doing the same thing for the weekends (weekend booster of sorts).
Taking matters a step further, you could also take an old concept from the GW1 days and reward players for a “hot streak” where every x amount of wins awards y bonus points, and have the streak be interrupted by losses, DCs (accumulation of any sort of dishonor would also fit into this idea), etc.
Beyond that, I think that other comments highlight a potential issue (not unique to GW2) which is that being a “casual” player gets directly tied to time investment (or lack thereof). I hope that the leaderboards never become a place you go to check a persons time investment over their abilities, because being a “casual” player isn’t a matter of time investment; it is a matter of competitive attitude, ability, and results, and the leaderboard should reflect that.
Given the concept that statistically speaking you need enough samples to make an accurate placement, so time investment is still technically going to need to be addressed in some manner, maybe like having “placement matches” during seasons to create multiple samples in advance and avoid the initial potential chaos.

I don’t see why the LB can’t just take the points earned and divide them by the number of games played to get a rating of points earned per game, with some nominal threshold for LB eligibility, like 15-20 games or something like that. The spread of points available each match might have to be reworked, like -5 for a disastrous loss you should have won to +5 for a miracle victory of pug noobs over a premade team of esports pros, in order to provide for greater variance (and fewer ties) in player rankings.
