We need Guild Wars PvP to save game
Yeah the fact that we’re lacking team pvp is killing this game since it’s a team game mode.
Funny thing is the fanboys of the solo que system are content to go down with the ship with this new system… I agree without team content the game is in serious trouble

The game or PvP mode? Because was just playing GW2 earlier today. The only complaints I was getting was from PvP players in HotM. My PvE guilds that refuse to kick me claims that the game is great.
And since this “IS” a PvE MMO. I don’t get how the game is going to be in serious trouble. Just because a side attraction to the game, that is not supported much is having issues. For every PvPer having bad times with GW2. Their are at least 10 PvEers laughing it up and screaming to ANet to just shut up and take their money.
I even dare to say that even if all of the dedicated WvWers and PvPers all left the game. ANet and GW2 more then likely not even notice much. At worst case, ANet may lose 3% to 5% of the total GW2 population across the whole game. I don’t know about you. But that doesn’t sound like it’ll put GW2 into trouble. Now if was found broken and messing with the PvE side of the game Anet is forced to scrabble to fix that stuff right away. Or risk losing a big portion of the game. Where if the same item was broken in WvW or PvP modes, ANet can just push it to the back burner till they feel like getting around to it on their spare dev time. Just saying.
But at least I admit it!
PoF guys get ready for PvE joys

True, but PvP players of any sort are more valuable players than PvE players. Story content gets exhausted, the desire to compete does not (unless the game does not reward ambitious players). Losing people that log in every day for a year or so like myself, people who will buy things from the gem store to show off (or extra character slots to be more competitive) are better than casual PvErs from a revenue standpoint. You might be right that the PvP population is low enough that it wouldn’t hurt their bottom line too much, but MMO devs are smart to pay more attention to the competitive crowd if they have an in-game store like GW2 does.
To me WvW should be guild based, not server based. GvG was pushed hard in GW1, but it was never as popular as hall of heroes or random arena. The PvP game mode that was DOA from the start was team arenas. Probably the most popular were the casual PvP modes in factions.

This is the PvP section. I’m referring to PvP specifically needs team content

Except team queue messed hard with matchmaking. It kinda seems like Automated Tournaments are the only way to fix stuff.

+1, absolutely correct. Right now there’s no way to objectively prove that you’re the best or near it, RNG is too big a factor in solo/duo queue.
automated tournaments would be awesome
YouTube
automated tournaments would be awesome
Or at least something that would automatically set up scrims between players. Then again they currently don’t have any reason to compete.
Perfect time to listen to vet players and add 1 vs 1 and 2 vs 2 and 3 vs 3 since pvp is dying. No other game has even tried to go pro in these areas. If this game hits them all they will get 1 vs 1 fans and 2 vs 2 fans and 3 vs 3 fans and they will overlap bringing in loads of players. (This is a wonderful suggestion and not a complaint for once up to the team to use new ideas).

It was never as popular as HA because ppl asked for RANK to enter guilds, so ppl tried to get Rank first (and of course to spam /rank to ppl). There was no way to measure how good/bad you were in GvG unless you played in >12XX points to get champ points (and that was much later). That made GvG really elitist and if you came new it was so difficult to get a decent guild. HA was more accesible for anyone to play and get to HoH.
I was lucky to get R3 alone “fast” and started a r3+ guild (leader was r5 an we were like :O) with some people an grew together as a team. But that is what online games are about right? Making friends, get better together and become good friends…
Anyway, of course Arenanet needs to make GvG’s become a thing, but GW1 ones, no powercreep, no imbalance cuz of pve, just a PVP oriented game with some PVE to show off. Better graphics and online purchases to make it EASY. GW2 is a PVE game and has its own place. Trust in your games like Blizzard does (Heroes 2.0, Starcraft remaster, ingame and crossgame rewards, etc.) copy them if needed they do it too lol!
I think Anet needs to bring back actual Guild wars to make game great again. The whole idea this game was built on was guilds fighting each other. Why won’t Anet develop dedicated guild-team based PvP? I mean separate from sPvP. Games like Capture the Flag. Three way King of the Hill. 5 on 5 matches that require different types of strategy. Maybe even some jumping puzzle PvP maps (true King of the Hill you have to climb).
Guild PvP maps would require each of the 5 member team to pull their own weight in different strategic situations. Guard seige equipment, escort builders, gather supply from neutral nodes. This would eliminate teams with good players who can no longer carry a lower skilled player. That in turn keeps skill level competition high.
Also, Anet needs to take away all rewards just for participation. Reward should only go to the best. So the structure would be guilds face each other in normal team v team maps, then after enough wins in a row, they’re placed in a three way King of the Hill. The guild who wins the three way gets the Glorious Chest, and the losers get kicked back to the beginning matches with nothing.
dont you mean stronghold which ppl hate. carry supplies, defend the doorbreaker, defend the lord, use treb, use and protect the right champion,
I think simply having automated tournaments would be a good way to promote team play, and also give alternative ways of getting rating points in order to avoid what some might call " elo hell " after unlucky placement matchs.
