What is the kittening point of announcing that they will be ‘activated’ if they aren’t visible. Haven’t they been active this whole time?

It’s kind of obvious that ratings are either reset with this or that MMR was based on a much simpler algorythm thus far. Either way, consider this to be a fresh start.

It will take a week for leaderboards to stabilize for that reason.

They said it’ll take a week… That’s a pretty good timeframe…

They’re not gonna reset the ratings… They already did that once last patch.

So people ask for transparency, and when they tell every you step they are taking, then you get upset and ask what is the point ?
All they are trying to say that its there, but they will need a week to bring it up for you to view.

It was well known that the leaderboards were already being implemented. All they’re telling us here is that they won’t be ready by March 26th, and that they need another week ( + no final date was given).

I honestly don’t give a baby cat… It’s 7 months into release of a game that took 6 years to develop, and they don’t have the core features that most Free To Play mini games have in beta.

I’m going to take a wild stab at this, but I’m assuming that by ‘activating’ leaderboards they’re going to begin populating the leaderboards. Once they have enough data they’ll make them visible. I wouldn’t be surprised if stats pulled from before March 26th won’t matter/aren’t recorded.

I find it a little odd in the phrasing of that reveal, but I am guessing that they had no way of actually recording the relative levels of players up to this point, so they will place the code in to begin tracking and will then make it visible once it has tracked enough data to be “up to date”. I think it would probably be best to reset the ratings to make sure this process doesn’t have unexpected hitches though with integration into existing ratings.

This is how I understood it. This is like the last thing to worry about anyways davinci. Its a single week. We’ve waited 6-7 months by now.

What are these leaderboards going to track exactly. This game confuses me with these rank points which you can still get tons of in a loss. Do actual w-l matter in this game? If they do then what the heck is the purpose of “rank points”.

Right now there is a match making system that has hidden elo and everything(seems to be working pretty well based on our play today). They plan to start putting people on this leaderboard based on their elo and after there stats are all nice and clean they will post up the leaderboard for us all to see.

Keep in mind lads that they are making leaderboards for the different facets of the game not just sPvP Nd is probably the reason for the 1 week hold up.

A week is just a ripple in the 7 month since release splash, Don’t stress it anyway.

I will take WoW for example, there is new season every few months… when new season starts all the data is reseted and players start from 0, Blizzard is not hiding ratings for ferst week because they want more data, noo. Whats the point of this? On the SOTG they already told us that they are testing the system already… now we have to still wait. Not many people will play before they show up the ratings anyway…

Its hard to say yet but I expect some players to come back to see how the leaderboard things pan out so it likely be in fluctuating chaos the first week or so.

Only thing I’m worried about is solo queue basically becoming a non-option. I’m already at the point where if I try to play myself I’ll often go against other premades multiple times in a row. This is during a time when the incentive to run premade is to sort of practice with your team by stomping uncoordinated pugs with some small likelihood that you’ll face an even competitive team. What will happen when people are fighting for their actual visible rating? No one is gonna solo queue except in lower brackets. I’ve had fun with quite a few matches just duo queuing with friends, but I expect I’ll be forming groups to compete come the patch.

You guys have to calm down. As Phantaram said we have waited 7 months, it’s a single week left.

People like me you’ll likely only see being optimistic on game forums; because I’d rather not post on a forum of a game I think has no future. It’s a waste of time.

It’ll pretty much be a team queue for high rated players and a mixed queue at low ratings.

I do wonder what exactly will be shown in leaderboards…and if it’s just going to be as simple as “this person is this rank in the leaderboard” and that’s it? They did say that it won’t be showing ratings, but rather the W:L ratio…which imo is a very bad idea and it would really make the top people not want to play for fun and only play to win – which means the top people will continue to only group with top people.

Side note: It would be cool if you could sort the leaderboard by specific class, etc.

This will be a sorry excuse for a leaderboard. They should have put a proper tournament system in place before they put a ladder in. I truly cant understand what they are doing anymore, they went from a QP system to something thats even worse, a mix tournament ladder. I hope the 20 ppl that will be on it enjoy it.

I appreciate the effort trying to explain the situation and calm people, but unfortunately i dont think it will work no matter how hard you/we try.
People will always be complaining and it will never change. Tbh i think it’s fine a lot of these stereotypical ragers quit, because the community is healthier without them.

Usually in other games (CS 1.6 for instance, since that is one game i played on a competitive level) the actual skilled professionals aren’t the ones who are raging and complaining, and i dont think it is different with gw2.

I’m just wondering what’s the idea of a rating when teams and solo players are matched in the same queue. So if you play only solo, you’ll eventually get matched against full teams which will propably lower your rating.

Actually its pretty immature to continue making excuses for A-net. See as an adult person I hold myself and other people accountable. That’s how the real world works. Sure I give people some slack initially but this game has been out for 7 months and they sold millions of copies they should have the resources to get things done faster. Just because they invite you to state of the games and sound like nice guys that really doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things. I’d rather they treat me with contempt but actually deliver what they have promised. The sad thing is this game has already jumped the shark no matter what they do. They might be able to improve the population somewhat but they’ll never been able to get it back to what is was at release. You’ll see. Eventually you will have to come out of cloud cukoo land and take off the rose colored glasses.

Bro I play Swtor for a year and I get 1 new pvp map out of that game.
They didn’t even release any more content other than a item mall full of hick items and some class tweaks that could’ve been done in less than a week.

In fact they even removed content because it was broken from the start.

It’s amazing how you can ignore every little patch they released about other part of the game and treat spvp like it’s everything a game needs to survive.

I understand this is spvp forum and everything but still, it’s amazing.

And you think you are an adult. Do you even know how much game development cost these days? Every game developers minimum salary is around 65k a year. That’s minimum. There are also artist and programmers who get paid more, and they’ve been making this game for 6 years.

Then you have to pay for marketing, trailers (which cost almost as much as a feature film to make) and all the other misc charges at launch.

You have to pay money to maintain the server. You have pay for office maintenance. You have to pay for custom support, which is around 100~ 200 reps that deals with a player base of say, around 400k. (being modest here)

They have delivered what they promised month ago. I no longer play the game as much as I did but i could seriously say the 70 bucks I paid was well worth the money. In fact, I’m amazed by the fact how Anet can release content every month when its not even P2P like WoW.

Hop over to swtor forum and you will see what a game that has jumped the shark actually looks like. No dev ever replies on forum. No content whatsoever 9 month after launch.
