We should look at what specs need buff
bunker guard will live again, well, someday
people are just crying just because they do not play the so called “overpowered” professions and prefer to play their mains.
Tempest needs the warhorn skills to be buffed considerably and some relatively minor tweaks to traits (stability on overload merged with minor traits) lucid singularity buff and a larger heal value on rebound when you use it to take a lethal blow.
Taking a break from GW2 to play various
Nintendo games..

More so, we need to buff some of the Core specs rather than the Elites.
Agreed, either buff core or nerf Elites, cause the difference in pvp is huge.

The difference is huge and it’s killing build/role diversity. Using your elite spec is mandatory now so you’re stuck with the role associated with it, ie: guards trap dps, rangers support heal etc.
Berserker
/thread
All the elites will be nerfed till they are interchangeable with older specializtions…i think daredevil and beserker will see buffs but the rest need like a 5% reduction in order to get that esport pvp that gw wants, beserker is terribad…its useful in some pve areas (not many) and uncomparable with even the basic warrior which is up compared to all of the elites. Im excited for when they get it all figured out and you can play any 3 specs and compete based on skill and not getting dropped by 14k hits that are unblockable or unavoidable…will be to see what comes out in the next few weeks
Papa’s Lady Luck- Necro
(HELL)
pre-HoT meta-tier (ele/engie/mesmer/necro/guardian) is completely fine, if not still in need of some nerfs here and there. ranger is also fine for the most part. imo, the only solid cases to be made for buffs are buffs for core warrior and thief.
elite-wise, beserker needs buffing the most. daredevil and tempest also need some considerable buffs too, daredevil being desperately in need of a stronger core thief (and maybe being buffed directly too?) while tempest itself needs to be made stronger to compete with core ele. druid is also in need of buffs to it’s offensive side (NOT THE PET’S OFFENSE) but at the same time needs some nerfs to it’s defense/sustain.
that being said, we can’t begin to buff things without first nerfing things we know to be overpowered like herald, scrapper, dragonhunter (already started), and chronomancer. hopefully this way we can avoid a power creep by having a better understanding of what actually does need to be buffed by seeing spec performance in a considerably more balanced context.
Here are some basic specs which need buffing:
Thief pistol/pistol
- I have no good idea how to buff this without buffing D/P or P/D which don’t need buffing. Thief seems to be held hostage by D/P+SB spec, which is the best overall thief build for all game modes. SB#5 and D#2 give thieves amazing mobility and thieves great access to stealth + shadowstepping makes thief viable at all forms of play, but pigeon holed to a certain role. Buffing thief easily pushes it into D/D ele level of overpoweredness.
Engineer turrets and gadgets
- currently turrets die way too easy in spvp and WvWvW, make them more durable to AoE/cleave and self-repairing by default
- gadgets are underused. Perhaps make gadgeteer GM trait more or less as baseline or reduce cooldown of some underused skills. Rocket kick could be turned into a War sword #2 alike 600 range leap, providing more mobility with rocket boots, still behind in mobility when it comes to ranger and thief
Minor things:
- Necromancer axe should cleave at least 2 targets
- warrior warhorn feels weaker now than shield, revert some of the nerfs
- Engi elixir gun needs rifled barrels as baseline (1200 range on #1 and #2)
Here are some specs which need to be toned down:
- D/D celestial elementalist (too much sustain, nerf burning fire adept trait and slightly reduce the duration of some of the boons from arcana trait line)
- Herald Sword/Shield + Staff Revenant (too much sustain, mainly because so many evades + blocks + heals + boons in one build, which has solid DPS as well)
- Dragonhunter meditrapper guardian (tone down LB dmg, especially #2 and #4, heavy light GM trait very powerful)
I am not so sure about the following:
- Chronomancer bunker mesmer builds (too much sustain + mobility + escapes combined with solid dmg, maybe balanced for conquest, but problematic in open world skirmish)
- Soldier/marauder rifle engi with toolkit + Elixir S (invulnerability + blocks need to looked upon, condis still major weakness against this build)
I would still avoid buffing tempest as D/D elementalist is still sitting at the overpowered category. Same for warrior as greatsword based warrior builds are strong indeed (albeit weak to blind spam and ranged kiting). First balance the basic spec.
