edit: Well looks like they were disqualified, very disappointing. Team Curse were the best and proved themselves, being disqualified after they had won the preliminary is just… not good. As european this anet decision is very lame to me, sending the defeated team to PAX. TP won fair and outplayed CC. If they had problems with residence of one of their members they should of told them that before the qualifiers so they could change something. It just seems another bad decision by arenanet( sad to say we are seeing alot of those lately). Theres no need for any discrimination, the important thing is that TP outplayed everyone else. Please dont favour NA teams, beacuse now it seems so, first denial gets out with helseth pax ban, now TP?

+10 to that. In my opinion thats 10x bigger offense then not living in EU… honestly not living in EU is something i dont find even wrong LOL. The point is TP owned CC, and the better team should progress. They practiced with xeph and they played with him, no1 care where is he from.

It is not about living in EU or not, A-Net has to make sure that citizens of other states are allowed to participate in tournaments where money is on the line.
There is some obscure legal/law stuff that has to be considered.

Also there is another thread going on this subject in the PvP Events subforum going into greater detail on whose fault it is and etc.

You guys should atleast get a somewhat complete picture of the situation before you are starting your speeches.

A few members of CC posted on the forums that the change to best of 5 and a few other things were unfair. The thread became sort of ugly with lots of qq’ing all round. Other members of CC tried to just say gg though.

TC, there was boat load of player’s who couldn’t go so team’s got subs for the tourney while TC cheated there way to win. GG this what you get.

They got Lance Armstrong-ed. They should’ve let Xeph temporarily sit out for this tourney and went 4 TP and a sub. Prolly the following tourneys, the eligibility rules will be relaxed a bit by A.NET.

That’s the main problem. Not whether CC is better or not, nor their behavior. It’s about how the thing has been handled. That’s what bothers a lot of people. Everytime the community can get a little bit excited over things, we get this stuff. :p

Yeah Xeph being UEA was a total mystery who would have imagined until yesterday. Let alone Anet and the organizers of this event who don’t know these players and have no contact with them. lol seriously?

I don’t think SYNC necessarily has a free win at PAX, because admittedly CC did do fairly well in the EU finals.

That being said, although the PAX tournament will kinda be a joke now, I think we can all rally behind the idea of cheering on SYNC to kick CC’s kitten, given CC’s poor sportsmanship.

I commend Car Crash for persisting and moving on to PAX. Their team followed the rules to the T. They made sure all their players were eligible. They followed the instructions of the tournament organizer and complied with the best of 5 even though the original rules clearly stated best of 3.

We don’t know what fully went on behind the scenes but Car Crash is coming out on top and it’s well deserved. They followed the rules and the other team did not.

You should all stop QQing bout TP/TC getting disqualified. As much as i think that Teldo and Azshene deserved to play at Pax, i dont realy think that Phantaram and Xeph realy qualify as top players atm after changing class, and on top of it all, TP getting special treatment shouldnt happen.
Also you shouldnt just flame CC for complaining after the tournament. The whole thing was rather messed up, things like the team manager of TP being involved in the creation of the roster (dont want to say they got the easier opponents but stuff like this just shouldnt happen) and then the change to bo5 at the last minute when CC had to play the whole day already. Yea some of them went a bit far on the forum maybe but i think this can be understood.
I’m realy no big CC fan, well tbh mogwow and me are not realy the friendliest to each other and i dont like Posi either, but this has nothing to do with them not deserving to play at pax. Yes, i didnt realy want Mogwow to represent EU, but thats what we got now so just suck it up all you other eu guys and support them as much as you can until the event(and maybe after).

I’m sorry but I absolutely don’t want to support this game anymore as they keep firing bullets in their feet. The meta is gonna be the same for the tournament and i can’t watch this, nor do I can say to people “Hey c’mon try out this game this is awesome”, because actually, it’s not. So many potential, so many good things, but so many waste …

EDIT: Oh, and btw, I don’t like Anet behavior too. They keep this meta, they perfeclty KNOW this is crap, but because they hold a small (yes, 10k cash prize is small) tournament, they make every players stay with this for months. This is unacceptable.

This way you at least give TC a chance to redeem themselves and if they fail then they are not the best team that is qualified to go and face the best team NA.

I’d say they’re even more top players because of that. The meta is what it is. If you’re just to stubborn to adapt, well you’ll lose. The game gives us 8 classes, nowhere is stated you can only play one. They played a lot against CC before the tourny and based on those experienced they change their comp. This will keep happening.

That is pure speculation. There was a reason anyone enjoyed the EU finals. This was a very tight game between CC and TP. Both could have won (and did depending on Bo3 vs Bo5). If you look at the brackets TP beat Pish 2vs0 – Thus it is very likely that also CC would have won this. To think a rematch is necessary to give equality to all participants who played against TP is kinda fail. CC and TP were/are the best teams in Europe and almost everyone bet that these 2 teams would be in the finals (which was the case in the end).

Tbh I wanted to see TP vs CC at PAX (because these are currently the best 2 teams) and I am pretty sure if CC would have gone the way over NA qualification (instead of qq the forums) this would have happened. I am pretty sure only people from NA think this will be a free win to team “Sync”. Actually I think Sync has to work very hard to have even the slightest chance to win the finals (Now against CC but also before against TP).

Anyway I am unfortunate to hear that TP was disqualified but looking forward to a great final between CC and SYNC. Since TP is not disbanding they will get their chance, I am pretty sure

It’s a legal issue and nothing else. I’m guessing it has to do with laws about internet gambling, which vary from country to country. The laws are often so broad that they can be read to include video game tournaments. ANet doesn’t want to be involved in a legal dispute with that, so they had to restrict participation to countries where they can’t be sued.

When a team is disqualified, it’s standard practice to replace them with the next highest ranked team from their bracket, which would be Car Crash.
