I can’t find one. WoW tried to be but didn’t take off. Is there a successful one that GW2 can aspire to be?

No, LoL doesn’t count.

Try Forge

It’s a bit twitchy for me but it does have a niche role. Another one is Bloodlines Champions, all though I have t seen it around for a while but it had a cult following at one time.

Or stay with GW2, once more systems are in place this game will rock.

I have been searching for a game thats closer to a mmo than over the view moba and i have found just that.

Game is called: SMITE
3rd person style moba with arenas/conquest/ctf
It has rankings and ratings
quitters get punished hard
you can also report players who feed on purpose
has a much bigger pvp community than gw2
Youtube it!

You have heroes/gods just like the mobas. With mmo style camera angles. Games is very close to becoming a esport. Actually more so than gw2 will ever be imo. Best part is its free to download.

Similar to the way LoL is laid out.You can either keep playing the game to unlock the heroes with out $ or buy them your choice definitely recommend.

Btw i tried and have forge its bad. Smite is very polished for being in open beta. It’s a blast!

Yeah, I didn’t like Forge but some people are sadaists and will love it. Half an hour ink knew it must be made by old school wow rogue glad players, it’s just a stunlock feet for stealth classes.

SMITE…… I have a beta key and have given it a go. The arena part sounds like it could be aight but I hate moba’s. too much PvE in the pvp if you I ow what I mean. Towers, creeps etc. I dislike that rubbish.

Straight up arena on it would be cool though.

The arena’s in that game is by far my favorite mode!! Give it a try!
As far as conquest if you have a good team there is more ganking than farming. That’s why i prefer smite over dota 2 and lol. I really do have fun!

You don’t need a beta key btw its open beta so anyone can download and play it!

Here are some current E-sports that are played in dreamhack and major tournaments like ESL: League of Legends,Counter-Strike:1.6, Starcraft 2, Super Streetfighter 4, Quake Live, Heroes of Newerth, and Dota 2.

But, there’s still tournaments being held for a lot of other games (in various formats) like Warcraft 3, Halo, Supersmash brothers Brawl, Age of Empires 2, Fifa, Guilty Gear, Blaze Blue, Tekken, and even WoW.

Out of all these games, there is only one mmorpg that could be considered an E-sport and that is WoW. Now, Blizzard’s developers have come out and said that WoW, and mmorpgs in general, are just not viewer friendly enough to be successful to a wide audience. And I think that makes sense.

Imagine this: you have never played a video game before, you start watching a match of League of Legends or Starcraft 2 and get a general sense of who is winning, what basic strategy is being utilized, ect. The maps are easy to navigate and you easily get a general view of the whole match.

Do you think the same can be said for GW2 or any other mmorpg? No. People will start watching a match and be like ‘WTF is going on’. Mmorpgs are niche games. You have no idea what is going on unless you have played it, and even then, you have to keep up with the current meta, the latest builds, ect to actually get a good feel of what is going on.

If you have never played a video game before you will not have any more clue as to what is going on in LoL than you would in GW2, in fact I’ argue you’d have less clue as to what is going on as the basic premise of two teams fighting each other for control of three points is simpler than the various aspects of a LoL match.

How many people watch LoL that have not played it? I’d guess very, very few, if you compare the viewing figures for even the most popular “e-sport” LoL to other forms of entertainment the figures look pathetic, take South Korea out, they look even worse.

But then that is no surprise, unless you actually play the game (or used to play it or play something similar like HoN or DOTA, basically already have an interest), watching LoL is like watching paint dry, most people will not even get past the first 15 mins of whack-a-mole.
