What about the update on Spvp and Esports ?
They’re shooting themselves in the foot by pro-longing their patches, obvious bugs, balancing and (major) communication blogs. This is evident by observing the number of hours played on the game (on average).
D3 met a similar fate, but through a different method. The game sucked and it plummeted to where it is now.
Although ANet are more forthright in their communication vs blizzard, the game is just not holding the attention of players.
expediting the information (if not the actual content) would at least slow the population trickle
ITT: People making ominous references to irrelevant games in their impatient attempts for vindication on whiney complaints about a game that has just launched a month ago amidst a massive number of players still enjoying and still playing this “broken” PvP referred to by forum dwellers not representative of the entire GW2 gaming community as a whole by even a small percent.
How about just be patient? And I would really like to see some actual statistics posted for the number of players making this mass trickling exodus grom GW2 people keep talking about as if they are privvy to some special info based solely on their own dislike for the game.
PvP is great for launch, and it’s exciting to think that it will only improve from here.

Reading the thread before answering sometimes helps. This link http://beta.xfire.com/games/gw2 has been posted before which clearly shows that GW2 already lost more than half of its player base.

Xfire statistics are above, and there is some validity to the communities frustrations when a major part of the game is flawed to the point where competition doesnt exist and balance has been ignored.
The very least they could have done is separate the PuG tourney groups and the premades that would make literally everything excusable and people would be more patient.
Posting a relevant link sometimes helps… I see nothing about those loss in numbers being to people “quitting PvP” which is all I’m really curious about, the rest of the game isn’t nearly as important to me. I thought that’s what this board was for.
You could just as easily say those numbers are due to people disliking the dynamic quest system… or WvW… we’re talking about sPvP here and you’re conjecturing based on your own dislike of certain game mechanics.
Anet has always come through in great ways. if they’re not talking it just means they’re working so they can eventually tell us about it. should try to enjoy the game as it is now because eventually its going to be a whole lot more competitive.
Well ANet somehow got the greatest rep for caring about their players, if it’s because of clever marketing or just from back in GW1 I dont know. It’s a good start for the company, but some people just check if they got what they paid for or was promised in actual gaming. So far spvp has been completely neglected and ignored. Many people dont wait because someone says the company is a friendly one, if the game is close to unplayable in it’s lack of balance and lack of promised features it doesnt matter if the creators are friendly and working for the salary if nothing reaches the customers. It’s the brutal truth. In the long run it’s affecting the companys rep as well since customers feeling neglected will have that opinion and that’s the opinion they will share. Countless of gaming companies have suffered from bad reputation because they promised players things that never happened or happened too late. You cant keep the game released in beta state for so long.
It’s just a blog with updates, it’s not that hard to post one sooner than later and if something change after the first one is posted, just add a new one with the new changes. People need to feel the developers care, if someone random says they do it’s just words and words means nothing if there’s no action to it.

No, it’s just a lot of people who play this game are adults and realize that reguardless of your spoiled Veruca Salt-esque “I want it NOW” mentality, you can’t always have it.
When the blog comes out, it comes out. There’s really no need to spam the forums with impatient bickering.
I think adults use their time more wisely as in making value out of time and money. You know what has been marketed, and if you dont get it after you paid for it the product isn’t good enough. Sure, back in the days when there was either this or no viable option, companies could get away with “soon” in terms of delivery, but we all know that’s not how the market looks today and customers act after it. It doesnt mean they wont still try to get what they paid for, and that’s why they turn to forums like this and express their feelings. And that’s usually what forums are all about, if everything was just sunshine and happy life there wouldn’t be very much life in forums, because people dont need to discuss if they dont have different opinions or gather around opinions about something they need to be changed.

At GW2 release, the xfire gw2 player peak was 14.000 on weekend with 7 hours/day average. During the week it was 12.000 players.
Now, 1 month later, it is 9000 player during the week.
This just means people play less.
This is not a problem since there is no subscription fee for GW2.
But there better be an update to give people some motivation again.
(pvp ranking & GvG where are you?)
Since I pay no subscripion fee, I just quit the game and will return when sPvP is starting to become fun. There are so many great games out here at the moment, just give GW2 a break and come back in 2-3 months…
Who cares about numbers and stats.
The point being is that Anet should of learned not to kitten over PvP from the beginning. If I recall correctly, something like this happened at the Launch of Guild Wars 1. Although, I do recall PvP working as intended at launch. Either way the lessons learned the hard way in Guild Wars 1 should not of been repeated here.
if you look at the stream numbers of gw2 on twitch you know how bad things are
Melony, did you will say same kitten after 2mouths when you want play PvP and… oh crap, no one play it (OR those who play= only guard/warr/mesm). Numbers and stats is things that defines whole MMO. Just accept it. Less players play PvP, then more leave… beacouse there is no-one to play with. PvE is nice, but comeon! After 1000000 kills same boss, who make exacly same thing is just boring. PvP is real person vs real person fights, what give more satisfaction and its never same. For ME PvE is addons for PvP, and if PvP starts fail- I just sell game out, or stop play. And many, many more PvP players do same if ArenaNET dont start treat us seriously.

The game is a month old now, how long do you suggest we wait? Another month? 3 months? A year? You can’t keep people waiting forever, especially when there are glaring flaws that have not been addressed [mesmers insta-repairing trebs, the ridiculous sharks in capricorn].
LOL at people thinking xfire is representive. I know a kittenon of games yet none uses xfire.
^ What is representative then? Fan-boy’s reassurance that all is fine and we should either l2p or go back to WoW?
It is relevant as a sample size though. Obviously not everyone uses xfire, but not everyone fills out surveys that they get in the mail either. It doesn’t mean that the data is invalid, it just means that it is a sample that can be quantified using those averages.
On the other hand, I know a lot of people that have stopped playing until the rating system is introduced. This doesn’t really affect the well being of the game in the long run and I expect people will come back once everything is straightened out.
A blog post in the next week would be duly appreciated. Dwindling users is expected, there is a lot of competition that came out in the past two weeks: Torchlight 2, Borderlands 2, and the WoW expansion. People are bidding their time playing these new releases, getting a change of pace. Grinding straight to rank 30 or 40 in a month sounds quite maddening to me, to tell the truth.
I think a major frustration here is that a lot of people see lots of potential for competitive PvP and we want answers NOW NOW NOW. It takes time to gather the correct information and prepare to release it at a strategic time.
