I played Spvp for 2 hours today, I know small sample, heres my results

saw 1 engineer, didnt see a single elementalist, 80% of the time my team of 8 (when it was was 3 classes only, theif, mesmer guardian, out side of those 3 classes, thief and mesmer where more abundant than guardian, ranger popped up everynow and then, I play at rank 16.

Sounds like some classes need some buffs. Or maybe its the tiered triats? Saw alot more diversity in beta when you could get GOOD traits not useless ones early,

Good design Anet, is if you have 10 traits and you see 3 or less are always used, dont nerf those 3 traits (or restrict their use as you chose) and instead make the others more attractive options.

Man Elementalists and engineers are very low, why is that?? how can I make the elementalist as good as the thief likewise for the engineer. Maybe ALL of the triats in the fire spec for the ele are a joke, (thats a true statement)

It is a much different story in tournaments and no one takes 8v8 hot join seriously when considering balance.

like RA was not considered for gvg balance.

The lack of any proof shows that his whole post is probably untrue and that you are right about the hidden thief whine.

Btw, maybe people are not playing Engineer and Elementalist because they are just not popular class concepts. Engineers are not underpowered and Elementalist are probably a bit underpower but both can be played well and can really cause devastation.

Sure, but tourney will still be “leet” and hotjoin will be lulzy. That’s just the honest truth about the nature of the game types. The truth shouldn’t hurt people’s feelings.

Just like WvWvW is FUN sure, but it’s follow the zergtrain and nothing to be taken seriously. Especially in terms of balance. Same with hotjoin, slightly less so, but nevertheless it will never be on par with proper tourney play between coordinated teams. It’s just the lulzy gametype.

Truth. More people need to stop paying any attention to non-tourney play. It doesn’t matter, it doesn’t count and it’s only there to goof off. If people started paying more attention to actual competition (tourney play) between coordinated teams they would see the true balance between classes. Is it perfect? No, it’s not. But each class has at least 1 viable spec (not enough variety I agree, but it’s a start) and engi / ele are both incredibly strong pvp classes when played properly in a team setting.

Most decent to good/great teams stream/record so start paying attention. The competitive community (tourney play) has been very open in this game so far about sharing their build theorycraft, team comp reasoning, and answering questions about how to improve your game. I’m not pro by any means, but I’m practicing and studying up and it’s making a huge difference in competitive pvp (btw, engi is one of my favorite pvp classes because it’s such a sleeper class. So friggin strong when played right).

When a bunch of people join with no group composition, you can’t really expect it to be taken seriously.

You are also talking about the sPvP 8v8 environment where people just prefer running whatever class can steamroll the enemies faster to give themselves more kills while zerging around the map like a bunch of mindless zombies. Engineers are popular in tPvP where bunkering a point is useful, and their are skilled Ele players in tPvP matches I;ve been in that can wreck havoc just as quick as a thief if given the chance. The classes are not popular in 8v8 because, 8v8 is a mindless zergfest and skill is unimportant in them. The only thing currently important in them is, get as many kills on the map as you can wherever you can because a kill is worth 15 points everywhere except a neutral capture point.
