What class should I roll if...
Everyone asks for a guardian or a mesmer. Thieves are strong, but I think there are plenty of those. I am biased towards guardian because I rather enjoy that profession so far.
Added: Oh, and if you can learn to play ele really well, you will be quite coveted (however pick up teams might be skeptical about taking you if they don’t know you.) Ele is a high skill cap prof that I personally believe is extremely strong once you learn them.
guardian, mesmer, thief
pretend they rest of classes dont exist
Mesmer, everyone is mesmer, you will be king of PvP with mesmer, never die, kill everything in 1 vs 1.
Not sure about what is in demand, but I highly enjoy being a ranger in sPvP. I enjoy the movement and run a mix between conditions and high pet output.
My suggestion to you is to focus on making yourself, as a player, good. Not worrying about other people’s elitist views on what is best at this moment in time.
But that is just me…
I can soundly say, without reading the OP, you should stick with a mesmer, guardian or a thief. You can’t go wrong.
From my personal point of view, I think you should go with Engineer. But along with Elementalist, they too have a high skill cap.
Looking for a good guild for PoF
Mesmer.
Check the twitch streams. When you see people like pokket picking a mesmer to play it means it’s the easiest possible class to do well with.
If you actually want to work for your kills play necro or a non gs/hb spec warrior.
Classes which start off as ‘amazing’ generally take a tumble in balancing patches.
Ignore the “omg go mesmer” crap. If you’re good at the professions you play, you’ll be sought out no matter what that profession is. If you’re looking to stand out and be noticed though, practice with elementalist. From my personal experience, thieves, warriors, and elementalists are a dime a dozen and 90% of them have no idea what they’re doing, particularly so with the elementalist. If you get good at it and do well, people will remember your name..atleast I know I remember the names of people that do well with the under-appreciated professions.
Say… Discordian.
You woulden’t happen to have played FFXI years ago, would you?
If you want to dominate other classes with little need to use your brain on when to use a skill roll a thief. It’s literally all about building around one skill and then spamming that with judicious use of stealth abilities. Choose either a heartseeker spam build, pistol whip spam build, or a slightly more complex backstab build.
Want to be unkillable by any less then 3 people and then only after a long period of combat? Go Guardian. You don’t need to do much in the way of damage, retaliation will do that for you. What? They removed it. Put it back up! Boons coming out your kitten when played well.
Want to control the battle? Go Mesmer. It doesn’t take as much skill to do well with this class as most people try to claim. To master it yes, but to get proficient enough to beat every other class on a repeated basis, no. Go two handed sword and one handed sword and focus. Stack power and crit. Go to town.
Which ever class you pick, don’t do Necro.
Yes, a well played condition build can do a decent point control. But that’s all they can do. There’s no choices in their builds. You withe go Sceptor/offhand and Staff condition build or you go home.
And there are better point control classes out there.
You can try out a sniper warrior; I had fun with this build, but I fear you won’t be the most valuable member of the team.
mesmer……….
Some good ideas, thanks…
I wasn’t trying to find the “best” class, what I’m trying to decide is what’s most in demand. What’s is the one class teams seem to be looking for when putting together a match.
I’m already pretty good with the Ranger, although I know I can get much better and will keep practicing. I’m just looking for a 2nd class to work on as well.
