First off, this isn’t any special request from the devs. Just me wondering about this.

As I read through the forums a lot, I see that the vast majority of posts are about builds that players don’t like (S/D thief, turret engi, power necro, etc etc). I was wondering, what do you enjoy fighting and what do you like fighting it as? For example, I love fighting other cele engis on my cele engi. Really any mirror match is fun for me. I also love fighting against power rangers if I’m specced into reflection (Reflect turrets or reflect shatter).

Are there builds that counter you somewhat but you still enjoy fighting? For example, I like fighting necromancers even on engineer. Winning against them causes me to start screaming “BEST ENGI NA” in TS.

On fresh air I enjoy power necros/rangers just because it’s hilarious to see them kill themselves along with rifle engis overcharging themselveds.

As a sort of challenge I kinda enjoy dd eles and and dps guards.

Once again… As I said on another forum, well necromancer… Turrets RIP.

I like berserker duels, unless it’s against a power ranger (I don’t like the noise the LB makes). In particular, I love mesmer duels: patiently waiting for the opening, CRAZY BURST, and lurking back into the shadows, waiting for the next opening. Or SD thief vs SD thief: crazy war dance!

I also really like fighting celestial rifle engineers, no matter the build (of course, on some I just don’t fight them). They are really strong, their cc chain is somewhat hard to read, but when you see in their game and reflect that OS and burst them down, it’s an immense satisfaction. It’s better than fighting a condition engineer, when you feel like you’re the one doing most of the damage by walking at the wrong spot and hitting yourself with confusion.

On my thief I enjoy fighting: Medi guards and longbow ranger.

Partly because I’ve seen them rush straight at me, anticipating an easy kill, then have no idea what to do when I’ve survived their burst and force them into panic-mode.

Nah, I only play it after I do a double at work and I’m sick. That, or if I just am in that mood where I hate humanity (Lich me or banner my kills enough and it’s coming). I’m actually usually either Cele engi, 100 mines, shatter mesmer, D/P thief or power ranger. I use to play Power Nades, hell even assassin nades just to give myself a challenge xD. I also dabble on everything to get some perspective on it.

i guess thieves are my favourite, but i love to fight anything that isn’t condi my engineer and anything that’s not a power ranger on my warrior. oh yeah, and i know this guy that has a phantasam build that’s even more cheese than turret engineer- but gladly no one runs it.

As a double ranged shatter mesmer:
Classes I Love to fight:

• S/d thieves (it’s a learning experience everytime, and the times I do win I feel super proud of myself).
• DPS Guards (usually an easy kill)
• D/D cele eles because it can go either way
• Mesmers Shatter mesmers are fun, condi mesmers are usually a free kill.

Classes I hate fighting:

• Turret engis (go burn in a pit.) I can usually win given enough time, it’s just honestly not fun at all.
• D/P Panic strike thieves
• Condi necros

As a advocate of Digums:

Yay(Easy to Mediocre Matchups): Turret Engies, Normal Engies, Mesmers with no Condi Clear, Teefs, D/D eles, Rangers, beating most Meta builds to show that Quad Sig Ele can work if played right.

Nay(Hard Matchups): A Medi Guard with a functional brain, Mesmers with condi removal or has a functional brain, A Teef with a functional brain, A necro that knows how to position and condi transfer, Karaoke Warriors, Anything with mass condi cleanse/Condi Immunity, Scum of the Earth builds.
