Honestly I don’t mind losing to better teams. I just hate losing when I’m outnumbered in every fight. Usually due to either afkers or poor rotations. Those matches were you can never seem to find an ally despite rotating between points. You know those matches where you wonder where the kitten some of your times are or what the kitten they are doing.

I mind less losing in a straight up fight even if I have weaker people on my team.

When multiple people from the other team commiserates with you on how bad your team’s pugs are.

• People who fight off point or get kited by mesmers off point while it is not taken or occupied by opposing color
• People who say literally nothing until we are losing, then explode in rage because nobody knows what they’re doing.
• Thieves that refuse to switch if we have more than two thieves. (I can’t be really frustrated at this because some people may just have one character. That’s a failing of the game more than the player I think.)
• People who see 3+ stacked on mid and push it by themselves
• Any non-heavy that does the above (X2)
• People that wont regroup when team wipes and just run off to w/e point is being contested.
• People who go home out of the gate when its already being capped and stand there.
• Any non mes or thief that pushes far without help.
• People that push far and stand there in expectation, even if they manage to fully cap the point when opposing team just completely wiped. Rally at mid please, you’re going to get eaten alive.
• Thieves that don’t at least decap/harass far when it’s free (This is your job >:{ )
• Afkers.
• People who say nothing in game at all
• People who wont listen to the 1 minute call for “Proceed to [kittening] TRANQ”
• People who leave home abandoned when a thief/mes is clearly harassing home.
• People who have a downed ally in a team fight and a downed opponent in a team fight that wont stomp the opponent if the ally is not in danger of dying immediately.
• Unfocused necros
• The -other- kind of unfocused necros.
• Blaming the thief for the loss when the thief performed well/demoralizing the thief in game when far is being harassed properly, because your sorry butt can’t stay off the ground and you think that by blaming the thief nobody will notice.
• Thieves that port out of a heal when they arent in danger of being stomped (or that wont stealth themselves when they are in danger of being stomped when that option is available so I/someone can rez)
  *Thieves that do this but up a ledge . (X2)
• Failing to update on status of Lord.

If you do not fall into any of these categories Idec if we lose. Usually if team loses it’s because of one or more of these is being done incessantly (obvious pet peeves like “waaah, thief ported” aside) .

This is fine if the rest of your team is working sides. If rest of your team is losing at sides then we have un problema. >:{

Harassment/distraction is always appreciated, but only if you’re:

a.) Distracting more than one person
b.) Doing it for a reasonable amount of time
c.) Doing it for a team that is adequately working sides and will proceed to mid when resistance at mid weakens once opponents realize they’ve lost home. If they come to mid to help you when you’re already dead (worse yet, one at a time) and points on either side are not under control, I personally think that’s a loss.

Otherwise, sure; go for it. it takes a little planning to do that, you might want to voice when you are occupying so that team knows when /when not to assist you.

Feel your pain. Worse yet is when those same teammates blame you for being at far and you’re essentially stopgapping the whole team. That kind of falls under the “blame the thief” thing.

Make sure that, when you’re at far, though, you monitor health bars so you know who on your team is squishy. If your opponents are mopping the floor with your team 1v1, you might need to switch gears and start +1ing home and mid, and just briefly visit far for decapping.

But I mean, who am I to give suggestions. It might help you get those points you earned though, idk.

Heh you look at the stats and see, I kid you not, that I accounted for 63% of the teams defense and all my kills were solo. And this was actually far.

I did a duo yesterday and we where both on far keeping 3 enemies occupied for 3+ minutes. In the end we lost the skirmish, but when it was the only point we held all that time you really have to go why? How could the other 3 on my team not cap one of 2 points defended by only 2 people?!?! Hoooooooow… I mean yeah they could have had the same deal. But that would have meant 1 point was completely unattended. Which would be so dumb…

That one or two players that obviously don’t belong in their current rating. Frustrating when they’re on your team and makes you feel bad for their teammates if they’re on the opposite team. It’s also a bit susprising how many players still can’t rotate properly and it’s the main reason they easily throw games rather than mechanical skill. I guess it’s expected when the game doesn’t have a basic tutorial for these things and people treat conquest as a deathmatch mode.

Yeah, a lot of players obviously do not know how to play or even how to win a match. They’re here for the ascended loot, whether they win or lose.

I’m stuck in a low rating and while I love close matchs (even if I end up losing), I hate being stuck in a team with two or three dummies who do not listen at all to what we say. I don’t care about new players : we’re all new at some point and I pretty much am to this game… I just don’t like people who do not care about PvP enough to even try listening. Losing a close match is fine: it’s part of the game, should and will happen. Seing your 4 teammate get rampaged by two players in the middle of nowhere and losing 100 to 500 shouldn’t happen.

I agree with all except that I love pushing far as a tempest. I can indefinitely delay that cap and cause the enemy team to devote 1 or 2 people to taking their home or sometimes i can even down the far enemy and cap it. Either way i have had alot of success with it.

Losing to a Lord rush angers me more than anything else in the entire game. It is the only thing that makes me shout at my screen for a very significant time. I have to say though, winning a game you didn’t deserve with Lord feels awesome though so the mechanic is fine in itself. I lost a game 390-320 (bunker wars 2 lol) to a Lord rush a couple of days ago and it took me a lot of wins before I got over it.

After that, the thing that frustrates me second most is losing because nobody went tranquility. It is just so easy for someone, anyone, to go down and when I am in a position where I can’t, and my team doesn’t go down, I get very angry.

After that, one thing that really annoys me is when it is truly my fault that I lose. In maybe 1 in 40 games I play at a level that isn’t even 25% of my best and I just don’t understand why. When I lose like this I always apologise to my team because I know I could have done so much better. It really frustrates me because I would know that if I played like I can, I would have won.

Losing to a boss kill doesn’t really annoy me because whenever a game goes to bosses, I expect to lose so it doesn’t bother me when I do.

Usually boils down to whatever stupid (mistake) I made or my team ignoring pinged targets/attacking targets that make no sense to attack for various reasons.

Or worse… when you end up losing less in that close match than when your team is getting rampaged…

If your team is getting rampaged, you shouldn’t lose as much : I mean, you truly were in the underperforming team.

Still, I find that I lose points more often than I get with wins. Even with a positive w/l ratio, I end up with less skill rating than I was when I started.

When the game set me up against a class stacked party. And i know the end of the game before it even starts

I just generalized that because most thieves and Mes’s I’ve seen that were decent handled this role well, but most other classes I’ve seen were not built for it.

If you can make them +1 or +2 you at home when they need to be at mid, go for it. Please don’t if you can barely 1v1.

This is also something you need to say out of the gate. “Specced for harassing far” or “will be patrolling far, built X” would be great.

Oh, Oh. Another one:

• When you have two thieves and they both insist on going far at the same time.

When your teammates don’t know what the heck they’re doing, failing to rotate and constantly rushing mid when our team is clearly a) dying b) the entire enemy team is zerging mid c) noone is alive except that person

The above reason accounts for most of my losses. And I have a ton.

Frustrates me most when you lose game with 450~499 – 500.

I rather lose matches 100-500, and not tryhard them… at end of game you remember that one silly decision of yours, or teammates mistake that potentially lost us a match. For me it happens almost every single time, close games everywhere.

And you know in the back of your mind that it is always the more skilled thief player that is willing to switch too. xD

Looks like loots of players like me who are stuck in bronze and having bad luck with matchmakings.

Agreeing with everything Azure wrote and some others too since i have expirienced all of them in this season in my solo queues.

Things that frustraited me also:

• A axe/torch ranger playing power build, following me every step while iam telling him to move to other spots he is needed.

• Getting in 3 matches the same Guardian who doesnt know anything. As exemple: Lord is being atacked that said Guard is moving to lord so iam going to cap points. Iam capping points but that guard is staying still at the broken gate. A flash hitme recognizing that it is THAT Guard (had two in that team) runshing to our lord, seeing that that guard is staying beside the broken gate and trying to jump over the gate. We lost the match 4xx-500 coz Lord died.

• Or in another match same Guardian is capping close and staying there the rest of the match.

• Bouths trebuchets atacking mid. 2 running at start close bouth waiting there 1 our treb, me and Warrior in mid. Warrior staying at stairs. I am in mid trying to dodge treb and and fighting. All enemies are down, also iam down. THAT WARRIOR still waiting at stairs and watching. Funny thing is. Iam dead, all enemies up again but downed instantly. Still that warrior watching. All enmies dead from our treb. That warrior leaving without capping.

• Keeping 3 at far. 2 of them keeping our 4 at close. I am killing one of there three, begging in chat that one of ours should move to mid. They ignoring it.

Loosing matches consecutivly like this. And thats frustraiting.

I messed up my first 10 matches with 3 wins 7 looses on solo q with matches like this. And somehow i have the feeling that RNG doesnt like me.

And come on, noone can tell me he would rush from bronze into Gold if the RNG Luck doesnt like you. What can you do if you are playing “1vs5” and thats how iam feeling currently with my matches.

Currently i have 40+ matches and close to silver, but still its frustraiting.

Every time that’s happened to me, it’s almost the same reason. We’re winning big, we’re clearly better than the other team in any straight up fight, but players get greedy. We hold home and mid and just wiped the enemy at mid, so 2 ppl push far. They then get easily overwhelmed, suddenly enemy has a 5v3 and takes mid and then players wander in 1 at a time and get ganked. Same thing every time.

LOLOLOLOL. I had a thief stealth me after we killed the last defender at a point. I was like wtf?

Personally the most frustrating thing for me is peoples inability to make critical decisions, and then when confronted, immediately resort to “its just a game” or other scrub mentalities. If you do not know how/when/why to rotate, if u do not look at ur minimap, if u are still learning ur class; pls go to hotjoin and unranked, that is what they are for.

Ranked is not for learning. Plain and simple. Ranked is for competition. When you queue ranked with Staff ele, refuse to switch classes when asked, or otherwise inhibit ur teams ability to win, ur a scrub.

Do mistakes happen? yup.
Should u only be allowed to play meta builds? probably not.
Should u be pushing far after mid fight? no, the answer is no, they are respawning.

Unless ur a top 100 player, why are u choosing to lose instead of win by following those very simple scrub principles? Why are u queuing ranked with the sole intention of trolling ur team and losing rating? Ur not trolling? Funny, cuz ur playing staff ele, or not switching off double thief, or not focusing the target (the one with the enormous target symbol above its head) because ur too busy in ur 1v1 off point.

These are some of the things that frustrate me, and they happen in every single division.

Frustrates me the most tbh is when I know I made that mistake at the end which cost us the game. I don’t really care if other people are trash since that’s out of my control but it’s most frustrating when you make 1 mistake which cost the entire game at the end lol.

Just posted this in another thread. Can’t agree more.

There needs to be some logic coded in the post game score to penalize those who try vs those who give up. Sure, maybe the game would have ended up a loss anyway even if they tried. But going AFK does impact and it causes frustration for those who are honestly trying. Trying to win, or learn, or get better. Not because they are pro or look at how I did.

Last 4 games for me before stopping are all losses. In each case one or two of our team stopped playing. I know this isn’t unique to GW2 but it sure in the heck is frustrating. And definitely is a buzzkill with regards to the enjoyment of the game. Losing because the other team is better is perfectly fine. Losing to afk is not.

• Blaming the thief for the loss when the thief performed well/demoralizing the thief in game when far is being harassed properly, because your sorry butt can’t stay off the ground and you think that by blaming the thief nobody will notice.
• Thieves that port out of a heal when they arent in danger of being stomped (or that wont stealth themselves when they are in danger of being stomped when that option is available so I/someone can rez)
  *Thieves that do this but up a ledge . (X2)
• Failing to update on status of Lord.

If you do not fall into any of these categories Idec if we lose. Usually if team loses it’s because of one or more of these is being done incessantly (obvious pet peeves like “waaah, thief ported” aside) .

i have no problem losing when both teams did their best rotating, grabing beast and buffs done right it turns into a nicely played war. so losing them is not a bad thing. losing when your team does none of the above on the other hand. well lets just say i am caring less and less about ranked

Being put on lower ranked team that i simply can’t carry by myself vs somehow lower ranked team and then lose absurd amount of points for it. If i do manage to win such match i gain literary nothing.

AFK/idlers is the single thing that frustrates me the most. If you give up so easily or don’t really want to play, then why bother queuing?

Another thing I get really ticked off of is when some class decides to run a totally contradictory/made-up junk build (bunker thief, bleed ele, or even a build that has absolutely no benefits or trait synergy). Note my examples were actually observed in-game…

I mean, the phrase “a true pro can play any build” is somewhat true, but if it’s your fifth time playing a class, please don’t theorycraft – stick to the meta and use the meta as a foundation for theorycrafting.
