I’ve been trying to determine what gets the kill for this without luck.

• Done most of the damage. They still got the kill by dealing a single hit some time before I dealt the last hit.
• Dealt the last hit every single time (e.g.: they were running away with no conditions on the NPC and no retaliation on them). They still got the kill.
• In situations in which all conditions on the NPC are mine and after they were defeated. They still got the kill.
• Number of players around doesn’t change anything either.

What exactly do you you have to do to take the kill?

Killing hit/condi damage gets the credit

last hit…whatever is direct hit or condi tick

It should be which team deals the most damage

As I mentioned before, I ruled out last hit, conditions, most damage, number of nearby allies and pretty much anything I could think.

Under all situations the other team always got the kill.

Sorry, but you did not rule out last hit. It is last hit so you must have missed the actual last hit.

best is skill that do multiple hit like Pistol whip.

Luck and spam, or stealth and patience.

Sorry, but you did not rule out last hit. It is last hit so you must have missed the actual last hit.

Nope. I ruled it out when an enemy ran away from my party members who chased them and killed them well far from the NPC so they couln’t even hit him with downed skills.

The Chief didn’t have conditions, and my team were the only ones around. There was nothing else that could have hit the chief. The enemy team didn’t have any profession with access to stealth. And there wasn’t any lingering turrets, summons or pets around.

My team definitely delivered the last hit, and yet they still got to.

During the entire match against these guys, as long as they hit the NPC once, they would get the kill. Once a hammer/longbow warrior even just came along to deal a single #1 attack with the bow and then ran away to mid to capture, and they got the kill.

So if it is not last hit, what is it?

Keep convicing yourself it’s not the last hit, but it is. Whether it’s direct damage or condis. Very simple answer. You saw wrong.
