Silentshoes (Thief), Wind of the Woods (condi ranger)
(edited by Silentshoes.1805)
There are currently about 625 people who have played at least 12 games. Not all that many for an international MMO PvP game.
If there are 15 matches going on at once, that’s 150 slots for people.
Now, if the “pool” at the moment of people playing SoloQ is only about 150 people, and many of them are higher rated hardcore people who play all the time, then the matcher is going to have to draw people from lower ranks to play against high MMR.
I agree that the matcher should sprinkle the high-MMR people back and forth between both teams of a match. But there is also the population problem: what if there are very few people near your MMR playing SoloQ at the moment?

I’m assuming it will broaden the range until it can find enough players. There’s absolutely nothing that can be done if there’s a small pool of players. Unfortunately ANet waited too long to start improving PvP and it’s going to be rough to bring it up to the point where the matchmaking system can properly work.
It pains me to say this, but it’s kind of amazing that they would even go to the effort to create the revamped SoloQ for around 700 people who don’t pay a subscription fee and use up server time and resources.
That puts it in a different perspective, and I am really glad they are trying to improve things for us.

I don’t think it’s that bad. Remember, there’s EU/NA as well and the update has only been here for a day. You have to be relatively hardcorde to play 11 games already (that’s close to 5 hours), so I’m guessing there’s lots of people getting between 5-10 games and joining the boards by the weekend.
