What if you could only see your own MMR?
Yes, it would cause a lot of drama.
Basically in every thread you post you would have to support your argument with your own MMR. – well, I’d still prefer to see it.
While the MMR can cause drama, it could also enrich a grown up community.
Every discussion would get more value. F.e. if people are complaining about power ranger with the information of their mmr, we would be able to specify on which mmr this problem appear and therefore be better at solving it.

But instead I occasionally see people taking the current leaderboards seriously, which causes even worse drama. I once had a person on the first page of the leaderboards call me a noob and saying I don’t know what I’m talking about when I tried to explain that rushing the lord in the first 2 minutes of a match was a bad idea.

Most people that talk about leaderboard usually get booed since it is simply a function of how much time you got aka grinding for it. MMR however isn’t as reliant on grinding so it holds a higher value than leaderboard.
This is an mmo forum, if someone isn’t whining chances are the game is dead.
Im all for it but Anets overprotective spoonfeeding philosophy isnt.
Compared to this, the old leaderboards had much more merit.
