What is the PvP team doing?
Leagues I guess
Leagues I guess
If Leagues can stop the production of everything else PvP, they really need to find a new team. If I worked at the pace they work at Anet, I would have been homeless a long time ago…
Reworking skyhammer, probably. Maybe spirit watch as well.

This isn’t limited to PvP, you could ask the same question about just about every kitten area of GW2, and it has come up (sometimes in violent explosions) repeatedly over the past few years.
People are constantly asking what the hell anet is working on. I feel like we see 1% of it and the rest gets cut…
Probably living story at the current rate…
Pvp team hasn’t been doing anything since launch.
Windows 10
New game modes

I seriously doubt there’s an actual “pvp team” of devs.
If anything, they’re the same developers working on everything else, and they’re most likely getting forced to prioritize everything else. Probably because pvp balance is to big of a cookie and i’m guessing the money comes from all other avenues within the game.
We get tossed a bisque from time to time that switches up the meta into some other overpowered class, simply because there’s not enough time and money to work on a real balance.
This is probably the big reason for the insane p2w meta we have at the moment.. because they’ve finally got a way to get money from pvp players.

Thats very true. Its sad to see when the game has such great potential.

Quote from Josh Davis-
“RE: Balance → Contrary to popular belief, the PvP team (or wvw, fractals, raids, etc) doesn’t actually handle profession balance. There’s an entirely separate team dedicated to handling balance for all core areas of the game (appropriately named the Balance team). The PvP team (and the other aforementioned teams and more) gives regular feedback on balance issues, but the balance team is ultimately in charge of maintaining the design vision across the game.
For reference, the PvP team is focused on infrastructure → PvP Leagues and maps, for example.”
you have to look at this with a broad perspective. anet is owned by ncsoft and anything happening at hq effects the spending power for gw2.
that doesnt really answer the question but its the best ive got.

So sad, but probably true. If the PvP team is focused on skyhammer, GW2 is officially slowly heading towards end of life.
All maps are being reworked to included new home base areas that are harder to spawn camp. A new mechanic is also being added, called the “Resign” button. They need to make sure it can hold up to the millions of pushes it will get day. Also in the works are actual water softeners, to counter all the saltiness of player like myself, who are thoroughly disgusted with PvP at the moment, but cannot stop themselves from queuing up every day.

Well right now they are on leagues, skyhammer and khylo.
For the past: Well, the developement team mainly made HoT. I suppose a lot of what they do we will never see.
Just an example: If one of my coworkers comes up with the idea to introduce a new movement element named ‘gliding’, I would gather my team and ask: can we use this?
Probably followed by months of try and error.
I dont say they neccessarely considered gling for pvp, but i’d guess in the development process of HoT there were a lot of ideas that would have to be considered/tested for pvp. Probably PvP even was the reason to reject certain content suggestions.
I am not going to fully defend Anet and it’s PvP team becouse I too think that the ammount of PvP modes and Maps are few over all these years but on the other hand.
Remember that programing, planning and making art for the game isn’t easy, they can’t just spew out maps and hope they are good. They need planning, testing, rework, testing, planning, scrapping, planning, testing, remoduling and while doing all this they also have to maintain and rework existing maps to the “needs” of us players. I would make a game like GW2 too if it was as easy as taking a dump.

I find a little weird s2 is almost finished and we have no news on off season, s3 and balance patch
That’s not surprising at all. They are currently probably rolling dices to decide what to do.

They didn’t say anything about how off season would work for season 1 either. they’re just going to cut the season, and put ingame when the next one starts a few days after its closed.
