The MMR system is kittened I swear. I have been playing quite a bit since thursday and have been doing decently well. In fact yesterday was quite a winning streak for me. But when I started playing today. I almost win no games. All the while when I was single queueing most of then time, I did play with some pug premades but thats rare. And I only went up by two rank from yesterday to today.

But today no matter premade or pug I almost always keep losing. On top of that the party members don even know what they are doing half the time. Its not like like I suck or am kittened enough to not know what I’m doing as can be seen by my decent NA pvp rank. Just in one day my win/loss ration went down by 1 percent. Till today it was going up in bits.

Seriously what is wrong with this system.

I personally don’t know of any other game, that gives you points towards the leader board for losing a match.

My guess is just it’s a bad streak for you. I get them sometimes too. It might be that you’re queuing up at the wrong time or something, idk.

Winning a lot won’t necessarily make your leaderboard rank go up quickly either. Surprisingly, your rank can go up even if you’re losing all your matches. The leaderboard is more about number of matches played at the moment than quality of matches or number of wins vs. losses. So if you go and play 100 matches in a day your rank should shoot right up whether or not you’re winning or losing lol.

I’m like rank 120 or something and my win rate is only like 55% because I almost exclusively solo queue, so that should tell you something lol. Good luck.

He was talking about the MMR though, not the leaderboard. The leaderboard will change in the future.

As for the MMR. If you had such bad matches then post in the thread “tracking bad matches” which is stickied. But be aware, it’s not because you lose that the system is bad.
So you’ll have to provide a bit more info.

I spoke to a thief the other day. He was on a 31 game losing streak and he exclusively soloed as well.

AS far as the MMr no clue. Ive had teammates that have blown a 200 point lead, thinking they had the win and wanting to fight off caps. Ive been in matches when i say," get tranq", theyd all run to ferocity. Ive been on team, where ive held a point(im a condi ranger) longer than a guard can hold home(only fighting solos).

I have screwed up as well. Not saying I’m perfect. But. i know how to rotate and run from a fight if its a 3v1. I can out rotate a zerging team. So, if i can do these things, why get paired with kittenty players that dont even know where Tranq is. MMR supposed to stop that. I cant count the times ive lost games, due to ppl wanting to off cap fight. It boggles the mind.

Or my fav….4 ppl capping home and going for beast…while im trying to hold mid at start of a fight. After i asked the guard to go mid with me. Hes response,I need the points gotta get beast 1st.

MMR is supposed to sort out these garbage players. I dont see it happening.

^ and that’s why I would like stronghold to be guild only. It’s a teamgame after all and it is very hard to carry, especially in a (MMO) conquest gamemode. There would be much less (game quality)complaints if there was no soloq experience.

But, don’t get me wrong. I like that we are able to soloq, it makes pvp much more accessible. But it’s also the cause of a lot of problems.

Solo thieves have a hard time, because if your team has another thief, it gets much harder to win.

Can you imagine queue times if stronghold is for guild teams only? Especially when you need more than 5 people to form up.

I’m on a 5-25 ish run myself as a thief over the past two weeks. I was pretty much .500 forever prior.

It’s got to be me and my lack of focus. Not including that game where the guard went mid alone on Skyhammer and got crushed. Or the one where we got 3 capped while I had 2 people defending their treb... But yeah, the other games, totally me sucking.

On the plus side, there’s been a lot of losses in the neighborhood of 500-350, so we’re not getting rocked, which makes me think it’s probably me.

Very possible during the thief dailies. That daily alone makes unranked and ranked a nightmare for thieves.

31 losses in a row means he sucked at what he was playing, clearly

A good thief can usually carry a match. Being able to +1 any fights, stealing bosses and get quick decaps (leaving home and be back again 10 seconds later) help a lot and can carry most matches. As long as your teammates so a decent job of holding two points that is. :p

Personally, I went on a seven game losing streak yesterday. Every game I did well, scored most points every game, won my 1v1s, avoided out-numbered fights, ect. Usually I match with and against really good players such as Five Gauge or Good Fights players. Yesterday however, I searched at 1:30am in the morning on a Thursday.

What I assume happened: Anet took my high mmr into a field of only low-to-medium mmr players since it being only 1:30 am. Anet assumed with my mmr than I can carry four really trash players against five decent players. In a perfect world of Gw2 being like a first person shooter where a person can actually consistently win 1v2’s, Gw2 is not that game. From there, every game was a 150+ point difference loss. Note that I’m a warrior. Thieves and rangers might be able to pull this off with good positioning as a ranger on certain maps and the mobility/burst as a thief.

Lesson: If you have high-ish mmr, only search around prime time.

My matches have been wildly inconsistent. Some days I’m on a killer winning streak, the next I can’t win a match and rage quit. Typically after this, I got to EoTM to kill up levels, because I’m throwing a tantrum and it makes me feel better.

The MMR system seems to be giving me weird matches. One match I’m queued with Fivegauge and then the next I’m with a new player who is still learning the basic mechanics.

On an unrelated note, there have been a lot of 1v1ers popping up in my ranked matches. Kind of annoying. Stop that please.

31 match lost in a row is ridicolous lol, you really can’t blame that to the mmr system he probably isn’t too good to begin with, lost a few matches, got frustrated, tired and started sucking more and more.

best way to end a loss streak is to stop playing for half an hour and relax before you que again.

There needs to be a billboard in the Heart of the Mists that reads:

If you enter a queue for arena on your own, prepare to lose.

Honestly, what do you think MMR is? All it does is keep track of your wins and losses.

If you keep losing, it won’t find try to find good players to carry you. On the contrary, it will look for people who keep losing just like you, so you can all lose together.

If you keep winning, it will look for players who keep winning, just like you. Unfortunately, those people might be in a team, so in the end, you’ll end up getting whatever the game can find.

You can keep blaming the game all you want, it just can’t create players out of thin air.
